Now THIS is a GOOD video. Thank you. I'm Lebanese, and we are PHOENICIAN CANAANITES, from the Levant. That is our base. As shown in the vid and other research, we also have at least 15% European DNA, and further Caucasian admixture (from Iran and the Caucuses). In addition, many of us have some northern European DNA as well. This is confirmed through my own dna--I had 13% northern European admixture. And I am FULLY Lebanese (all 8 of my great grand parents). My friends had similar results to me as well. So to sum up, we are a Phoenician Canaanite population, with European admixture. Which is quite unique. Of course, we are also related to other Levantine people ✔️ by way of our Canaanite ancestry 💪🏻. But we also have other admixture that is specific to us. (Just as other Levantine people are unique in their own right also). Lebanese are *specifically descendants of the great Phoenicians*. And the BEST WAY to describe this is to say LEBANESE. It's a country, a culture, and an ethnicity. With an amazing history.
Your test is anecdotal. It's like bringing up a Lebanese individual with 5-15% Arabian admixture and saying "many of us have this". The Lebanese people are extremely close to other Levantine populations. This idea of being a "unique Levantine population" is copium. I also find it hard to believe you're Lebanese given your name and profile picture lol. "We are PHOENICIAN CANAANITES. With at least 15% European DNA, and further Caucasian admixture. In addition, many of us have some northern European DNA as well." This whole statement is incorrect, are you trying to LARP as if you're European lol?
If you’re basing this on the video, then you’re basically saying all Arabs are Phoenician. Please watch again. For example eastern Yemen has a higher Natufian dna than Palestine and Lebanon. Are they also Lebanese/canaanite/levantine? Going by you’re saying you’re more Yemeni than Yemenis and Yemenis are more Lebanese than you. At the end of the day it’s meaningless. Identity is dynamic.
@@Moemuntz Incorrect. You should definitely watch it again, because Lebanese are CLEARLY a Levantine group with European admixture. Arabs from the peninsula are NOT Levantine. *Natufian on its own is NOT Canaanite*. The Arabs do not have Canaanite DNA. But Lebanese do. Do you understand this? This is a fact. Identity may be dynamic, but that doesn't mean that ancestry doesn't matter. It's a part of our identity, and for many people it is an important part.
@@donmoez6289 First of all, get a life. Worry about your OWN identity instead of trying to decide others'. Second of all, I never said that Lebanese aren't similar to other Levantine people. I said that it is unique because of our *admixture*. Our admixture has things that other people don't have. If you have a problem with this, then you need to get a life like I said lol. Nobody is larping. Our European DNA comes from ancient times. It's a part of our makeup. But I clearly said that Levantine is the most significant part. Finally, this is NOT merely anecdotal, it corresponds to the very facts that he mentioned in his video. And the research. I didn't say anything controversial. You seem to dislike the facts, for whatever reason. Which is ridiculous, but I'm not going to bother with you.

I'm fully LEBANESE ✌🏻, and my heritage is from South Lebanon. Here is my *DNA* *breakdown*: MYHeritage: 61% Levantine (Canaanite) 24% Greek 13% Caucasian 2% Miscellaneous MyTrueAncestry admixture calculators On average, according to these calculators, I had-- 65% Canaanite 17% Southern European 13% Northern European 5% Caucasian and trace ancestry The content of this vid is mostly accurate. But I'd add that newer research has been conducted (from after 2017) by geneticists Pierre Zalloua, and by Lazaridis. Their work reaffirms the ancient European connection, beginning from Phoenician times. And there's other interesting information about the Canaanites as well. I recommend everybody who's interested look it up. So in short, we Lebanese are a Phoenician Canaanite group, with European and Caucasian admixture. Another way to say this is *simply Lebanese*. It's a country, an ethnicity, and a culture, going back thousands of years, down to the present day.
Wow! I’m surprised that you’re 1/3 European/white. I’m Lebanese and my results were 100% Levantine and I know a few other Lebanese people who got the same results as me. I think the majority of us have little to no European dna
@@iamalegend5630 I'm not 1/3 "European" as a separate ancestry 🤦♂. That is part of the LEVANTINE dna. You have to check MyTrueAncestry or a similar company to see the *breakdown* of your dna. Thanks you for this documentary. In arabic the Levantine area was called ‘bilad Al Sham’ or in Latin Syria Palestina . It include Palestine, south west Syria, Lebanon, south of jordan. The people who lives in this area are Canaanite descendants and the arab came and Arabnised the area. There were Phoenicians, Moabites, ammonites , jebusites. Also, the Arab in Levantine area does not look like Arab in Arab peninsula and this is another prove That they relate to the Canaanites and Greek.
The lebanese and Syrians....are not Greeks .the Greeks are originally phonecian Lebanese ..Greek islands were discovered and ctivated originally by the phonecians and early Egyptians, not vise verca
Palestinians and Lebanese share similar ancestry, lets be proud of our ancestors and pray for more love and peace among all Levantine people. 🇵🇸🇱🇧🇵🇸🇱🇧🇵🇸🇱🇧🇵🇸🇱🇧💓💓
Bon't say that!!!! Israel might use the ancestry factor as an excuse to drive all the Palestinians out from what remains of their lands. But seriously, we all all the same.
I don't know why there's so much hate towards the arabs even the arabs themselves, and my honest thought about this thing is that the arab is the last group of the semantic, and the Arabic today = sematic, i feel like Arabian is keeping our heritage as sematic, plus who says that arab origin start from the Arabian peninsula many studies show that arab origin is from the south of the levant and sinna. So everyone in the levant and the gulf maybe we are not the same but we are the closest to each other ethnically. Proud to be arab and proud more to be sematic . My English is not good sory😊
You should do a video on Yemen, I think it would be very interesting to see the differences between the southern Arabian peninsula and the northern/levant 🙏🏽

Yes there’s the different religious groups and the related cultural background that comes with them, but if we can talk of a ‘secular culture’, a culture that is related to the connection of the people to the land and the traditions that are generated from that connection and from what the land produces, that culture is pretty much similar between all religious groups in Lebanon and beyond in the immediate region since we’re still talking of one connected environment.
The problem is, our neighbors in the region want to deny our identity. They want us to be exactly the same as them, because they're jealous of our uniqueness. That's why I don't try to connect with them. I defend our Lebanese identity as being Lebanese, and being different.
@@freepaganthis problem is also found in Lebanon. This is why we made this political system of ‘power sharing’ between the different confessions. Because we also correlate identity with confessional belonging, we’re not able to solve our problems. Or some Christians consider themselves to be superior because they have a westernised culture. But the western world has improved and developed specifically when it separated between state and church. And here we’re still afraid of the other who’s supposedly different and we find protection in confessional institutions, whether educational or other. And the majoritarian Muslim group has its issues as well and we’re still not finding genuine solutions.
@@zahifar3936 Well, I don't think Western culture is necessarily superior. But it is different. And the reality of that difference is pungent. There's no denying that it's there and is significant. Lebanese in Lebanon need to tear down their govt and start over. Make it completely secular. But with protections in place for Christians, atheists and so on, so that sharia isn't put in place either.
Some Lebanese Muslims have become hardcore in recent years. They think they're Saudis. Meanwhile real Saudis would laugh in their face if they heard that they think they're the same people.
@@freepaganthe problem and solution isn’t in only the political system, it is also in people’s minds and their openness to the other. People in Lebanon may be educated and have diplomas and live a ‘modern’ life, but not many are cultured and ready to understand the other. The solution is in that. Getting to know the other and realise, as I stated in my original comment, that we are the children of one local environment. We’re not confessional groups who came from different places and are gathered here and we need to find ways to live as strangers in a common country and tolerate each other. We need to put religion in its natural place and reconstruct our national belonging. No other way. Otherwise we remain in our problems. Federal system, whatever, that doesn’t solve anything by itself alone, if the desire of the federal system is based on our perception that the other is not really our brother and sister in citizenship and identity.

If you're ever bored and want to go down a strange rabbit hole, look into the x haplogroup and the fact that it's really high in druze, scottish (Orkney islands specifically), and Georgia. It's also oddly present in north American native americans. You might be thinking "so what?" If you keep looking into it you'll find conspiracy theories involving atlantis, freemasonry, and rosicrusians and oddly the dispersion of this haplogroup kind of supports these ideas considering that druze are phoenicians supposedly connected to king Solomon, the Orkney Islands are a very important area for freemasonry, and a theory of atlantis says that native americans and middle eastern people came from atlantis. I know this is all going to sound whacky, and maybe it is, but it's a neat little rabbit hole. My ancestors are maronites and scottish ironically enough and I've always wondered if the x haplogroup is really common in the maronite population too or just in the druze population. There isnt a lot of literature out there on it.
native americans and europeans share a common ancestor, north eurasians. which is big in northern european countries. The middle east and the Caucasus's where the caucasoid groups came from and spread their ways. Europeans, jews, arabs , north africans are related in sister clades..
I understand this. You'd have to look deep into it to see why its so weird. Like in a lot of older texts that have to do with Rosicrucianism and Free Masonry there are claims that the Druze claim to be descendants from Atlantis. The thing is, these people were making these claims before anyone even knew what DNA was. I'm not saying it's real. I don't believe it myself. It's too far fetched for me. I appreciate this good sir. I love your content. I believe chalcolithic iranian is a component of Lebanese ancestry. Is this the same as one of the two groups of Iranians that you mentioned or a different group? Also if you are looking for ideas for other videos, it would be awesome if you would make videos solely about who natufians were, who Yamnaya were, who anatolian farmers were, who chalcolithic Iranians were and so on. Obviously I'm just making a suggestion and it's your channel so you're free to do as you like, but when you talk about these groups I'm curious about who these people are. And you do a really good job illustrating these things concisely. Sometimes I don't want to watch a 3 hour video but maybe a 20 minute video on that sort of thing lol. Up to you though. I like your Content regardless. Wish you kept the British video though. I can't find it anymore.
I can tell you. I'm Lebanese and I've done the research. The Natufians are pretty much native to the Levant. They might have come from the Caucuses originally, but we really don't know at this point. The other portion that makes up Canaanites were Caucasian. He says here that they were Iranian, but this is not an established fact. they could have come from other parts of the Caucuses (see the latest work of Lazaridis on this). The Yamnaya were a hunter gatherer population. They are responsible for spreading most the Indo-European languages in the Bronze Age. Btw, a small percentage of Yamnaya DNA is Levantine! We Lebanese have a good amount Yamnaya DNA. I myself have 30%. Chalcolithic Iranians have Yamnaya DNA also, but I haven't done a lot of research on them. But as for the other groups, those are the facts.
@@jasonbrown5014 Oh that's cool. Well I'm fully Lebanese, but in MyTrueAncestry I did get about 13% northern European. Maybe from the Byzantine Era, or the Crusades. All of that is an established part of our dna, which really is fascinating.

My great grandmother last name was Zvulun, which is the name of 1 of the 12 Hebrew tribe which are said to have never left the great kingdom of Israel. I did an origin test at my family tree dna and got percentages of the Levant, little Asia and less than 1 percent of Arabian peninsula alongside 16% Italian, 7% of which specifically from Sardinia and also 1% of Yemani Jew DNA :)

All Levant countries Lebanon Palestine Syria Jordan share the same DNA blood. They all came from Canaanite ancestors. Unlike the Israelis who came from Europe and claimed that they were Levant.
Nope. Watch the video again. While it is undeniable that we are all Canaanites, Lebanese have a different genepool than their neighbors. As the man explained, we have a significant amount of European and Caucuses dna. Which is unique to Lebanese people. So you can't say we're the same. We don't even look the same. If your point is about Z ionism, then I agree most of them are foreigners in Israel.
@@D19DMO128D No, this is not true. You can see the difference between us and Palestinians as soon as you look. We have lots more people with light hair and eyes than Palestinians. Also, we don't just have Greek in our DNA. Did you see the part about the Caucasian/Iranian? that also contributes to our light features. Palestinians have nothing to do with that.
@@D19DMO128D Bro I've seen both videos and the research articles. You're not stating anything new. Except you're making a few mistakes by saying "Lebanese Christians" instead of just "Lebanese." All of us have roughly the same DNA. And your second mistake is thinking that our dna doesn't have any "northern" elements. This is patently false. The Greek that we're mixed with is not necessarily "darker" lol. You're talking out your elbow. Besides the VAST MAJORITY of Palestinians are Muslim. So on the whole you guys don't have the "Palestinian Christian" look. Even that one is only a little more similar to Lebanese, not totally. Lebanese were also more affected by the Byzantine Era than you guys were. And the Crusades. That's where we get our northern European blood. Granted this is less prominent than southern European, but it's there in many Lebanese people (regardless of religion). You can see the paper by Pierre Zalloua from 2018 where he talks about it. Finally, we get most of our Levantine DNA form Phoenicians directly. And have a much higher percentage of it than anybody else in the world. That also contributes to our differences, both in the genome and in terms of our appearance.
@@D19DMO128D Idk what happened to my reply, looks like it got deleted. In short: Lebanese have more European than Palestinians. It's not just Greek, and no, there's no evidence that it was a dark population of Greeks either. We have both southern and (to a lesser extent) northern European DNA on average. This is from both the Byzantine Era and Crusades. Palestinian Christians are a tiny minority. Most of you are Muslims and have that look that comes with it. So you can't use the Palestinian Christian population as any kind of representation for the wider Palestinian population. Northern Levantine people are substantially different from southern ones. This is because our (main) ancestors were particularly Phoenician. Finally, looks don't lie. There are many more Lebanese with light features than Palestinians. This alone indicated the difference.
@@D19DMO128D There's no way you were one of the people that took part in this research. If you were a real researcher then you'd know about Pierre Zalloua's work. He discusses in his paper from 2018 "Ancient mitogenomes of Phoenicians from Sardinia and Lebanon", the impact of the Byzantine Era on our genepool. That and the Crusades explains the (albeit lesser quantitt) of northern European DNA many of us have. And you'd also know that the Caucasian/Iranian populations that we inherited in great proportion from the Phoenicians contributes to our light features also. And it is obvious to any geneticist worth his name that features like light eyes and blonde hair don't originally come from Slavs lol. They come from Eurasian Steppe and WHG populations. Which Lebanese have. So it's not even about the European aspect, even though we do have more of that on the whole than Palestinians. It's the total admixture, and the ancestral lines within that admixture is shared by a lot of European people too, just fyi. Facts are facts. Sorry if you don't like it and that you don't know any better.
Hello, may I inquire about the source and basis of your conclusion that some ancient native Iranians intermingled with Gassulian to give rise to the Lebanese CANAANITE DNA? Your analysis seems to assume that Iranians are the cradle of civilizations, which contradicts archaeological findings and Phoenician historical records. Maurice Dunand's Phoenician expedition demonstrated that Lebanese Canaanites originate from Lebanon, as supported by Sanchuniathon, the oldest historian from Beirut. Their genealogy, according to Sanchuniathon, began within Lebanon, and their cities predate those in Iran or Mesopotamia. The Canaanites consistently identified themselves as such. While I acknowledge the possibility of later interactions and mixings due to invasions or maritime travels, it's crucial to recognize the enduring Phoenician influence in Lebanese lifestyle, traditions, folklore (singing, dancing), and family names. Many Lebanese families preserve Phoenician Canaanite names like Canaan, Azar, Shamoun, Murr, Bakhos, Haddad, and more, unique to Lebanon. Furthermore, 90% of Lebanese villages and cities retain Phoenician Canaanite names. The Phoenician Canaanites established ports in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, discovering these regions long before trade or migrations occurred. Greek historians attempted to trace the Phoenician Canaanite origins outside Lebanon, leading to contradictory claims about their presence in the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf, Arabian Peninsula, Europe, etc. These assertions were based on the Phoenicians' colonies and ports in those areas. Absolutely, the uniqueness of the Lebanese people is evident in their distinct characteristics. Pierre Marie Martin's observation underscores the remarkable resemblance between the Canaanites and the Lebanese. Their aptitude for professional trade, love for travel, ease in assimilating with diverse cultures, and individual capabilities all echo the traits of their Canaanite ancestors. It's fascinating to see the continuation of such qualities in the Lebanese people, maintaining a connection to their roots as skilled traders and adventurers. The exploration of Africa for gold and diamonds, mirroring the pursuits of the Phoenicians, further highlights the enduring spirit of exploration and commerce within the Lebanese culture. on the other hand Iranians as well as arabs areflect the same conception of sticking on their countries , very isolated and difficult to accept any stranger to to mix with them NOTE the Greeks' sources has been proved wrong and untrue , their historians attacked each .
Bro you have to understand how population genetics works. Every single group in the world is made up of previous groups. The Phoenicians are indigenous to Lebanon, no doubt. They even named their homeland LBN which means "white" in Phoenician. And they lived there for thousands of years (and still do in modern Lebanese). I'm also Lebanese btw. However, the Phoenician Canaanites were made up of two distinct populations. 1., the Natufians (who are indigenous to the Levant). And 2., Caucasian Iranians who came to mix with them. After mixing with them, they became the Canaanites. From there, the Phoenicians emerged and mastered the sea. Then they mixed with other Mediterranean people. Later, we mixed with even more Europeans, and that has been our DNA ever since.
@@freepagan With all due respect, your comment echoes the content presented in the aforementioned video. and alI i only sought evidence and proofs supporting the assertion that Canaanites resulted from a mixture of Gassulians and Iranians, as claimed in the video, or Natufians and Caucasian Iranians, as per your statement. To arrive at a more convincing conclusion, it is imperative that the evidence presented be irrefutable and grounded in solid historical and archaeological foundations. I have also presented significant historical and archaeological facts that contradict with your both theories: Numerous studies indicate that Lebanese cities rank among the oldest inhabited cities, predating those in Mesopotamia. This suggests the possibility of migration in the opposite direction-from Lebanon to other regions and not from Mesoppotamia to Lebanon as you both claim. Sanchuniathon's cosmogony, which traces the entire family tree of the Canaanites back to Beirut, gains support from the discoveries of clay tablets in Ugarit, by the Phoenician expedition led by Maurice Dunand , affirming the accuracy of his accounts. In anthropology, the notable exception lies in the migratory patterns of the Lebanese and their ancestors, the Phoenicians. Unlike surrounding civilizations, they were known to migrate or leave their territories, particularly before sailing and trading gained widespread popularity.i mean they were the first to adventure outside Lebanon while others remained islolated in their homeland

Some of the diversity you saw would have been because of the refugees ( 25% of the population). While they are also Levantine (Syrians and Palestinians), they're not the same.
In addition, many of us have some northern European DNA as well."
This whole statement is incorrect, are you trying to LARP as if you're European lol?
If you’re basing this on the video, then you’re basically saying all Arabs are Phoenician. Please watch again. For example eastern Yemen has a higher Natufian dna than Palestine and Lebanon. Are they also Lebanese/canaanite/levantine? Going by you’re saying you’re more Yemeni than Yemenis and Yemenis are more Lebanese than you.
At the end of the day it’s meaningless. Identity is dynamic.
@@Moemuntz in the neolithic, it's clearly political

2% Miscellaneous

On average, according to these calculators, I had--
65% Canaanite
17% Southern European
13% Northern European
5% Caucasian and trace ancestry
The content of this vid is mostly accurate.

This is interesting from a genetic standpoint. Modern Lebanese share a generally similar genetic heritage. And cultural as well.
We do have a very diverse background. For me however, it is pretty European lol. My Ancestry DNA test said that I was Syrian and Lebanese, mixed with French, German, Scottish, Irish and English ancestry.

The exploration of Africa for gold and diamonds, mirroring the pursuits of the Phoenicians, further highlights the enduring spirit of exploration and commerce within the Lebanese culture.
on the other hand Iranians as well as arabs areflect the same conception of sticking on their countries , very isolated and difficult to accept any stranger to to mix with them
NOTE the Greeks' sources has been proved wrong and untrue , their historians attacked each .

With all due respect, your comment echoes the content presented in the aforementioned video. and alI i only sought evidence and proofs supporting the assertion that Canaanites resulted from a mixture of Gassulians and Iranians, as claimed in the video, or Natufians and Caucasian Iranians, as per your statement.
To arrive at a more convincing conclusion, it is imperative that the evidence presented be irrefutable and grounded in solid historical and archaeological foundations.
I have also presented significant historical and archaeological facts that contradict with your both theories:
Numerous studies indicate that Lebanese cities rank among the oldest inhabited cities, predating those in Mesopotamia.

The migration of Iranians has nothing to do with having civilization and...
Because they were just a group of people who moved from place to place and this has nothing to do with civilization and...
Iranians (natives of Zagros and Caucasus) also have built very old cities
Like the hill of Jiroft, the hill of Hasanlu, the burnt city(shahr e sokhte) and...
On the other hand, the haplogroup of the people of West Asia and South Europe and other some regions is J2 & J1
And this haplogroup has spread from Caucasus and Zagros to other parts of the world
It seems that a Caucasian Iranian man(J2 & J1) who came to middle east thousands of years ago mixed with a Natufian woman(E1 & E2 ) and created the people of today's Lebanon.
For this reason, most people in the Middle East have the J haplogroup (because the Y haplogroup is only transmitted from the father).

i am simply asking 2 very clear questions :
1- what are the SOLID EVIDENCE that CANAANITE is the result of a mixture between Gassulians and Persians . or Natufians and Persians ??!! it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT EVIDENCE SHOULD VERY SOLID .. because the whole content is building up over this SLOGAN .
2- IN ARCHEOLOGY if we assume the theory is undebatable and irrifutable ..this drives us to the effective fact that the oldest inhabited cities must be in Persia and not in Lebanon .. which is not the case .. THOSE WHO CLAIM THAT MESOPOTAMIA IS THE CRADDLE OF CIVILIZATIONS HAVE TO TELL US WHEN THEN THE OLDEST INHABITED CITIES AREN'T IN MESOPOTAMIA ?
3-HISTORY WISE .. NONE OF ALL THE PHOENICIAN CANAANITE HISTORIANS starting from Sanchuniaton HAVE EVER CLAIMED ANY ORGINS OR COMING FROM ANY COUNTRY OUTSIDE LEBANON ..even in late history they didn't seem to have ties with their "relatives " in Persia ..
4- it looks a kind of hypcrite to limit the people of old Lebanon to WOMEN only , since we all know that DNA marker is transmitted from FATHER TO SON ( in male connexion ) .. and the message behind transmitted to us can be briefed as " CANAANITE ARE IRANIANS at the end "
NOTA BENE : it should be known to everybody that the so called "LEVANT"was initially inhabited by the Canaanites .. Syrians aka Assyrians and Philistins and Hebrews settled in later .. so we have to respect the chronological eras ... which conclude us to the result that the Syrians , philistins and hebrews are settlers and colonizers of the canaan lands and this doesn't make them Canaanites

If you want to know your origins do an autosomal/Haplogroup tests.
Assyria was in Northern Mesopotamia.
Inland Syria was called land of Aram.
Eastern Lebanon was part of it and part of Coastal Syria was part of Phoenicia.
All Palestine was Canaanite before the settlement of the Hebrews.
Today, people have been mixed a lot.
We are sure today that part of the Phoenician genome was linked to the Arab clade FGC11 and that they had their own mutations (As for the sample ERS1790733).
You can be today a Syrian, a Jordanian, a Palestinian and have a Canaanite clade under J2 or even under E1b1b.
A simple example for the SNP J-Y86930 linked to Phoenician settlement in Croatia, you can find one Palestinian, one Syrian and one Jordanian linked to it.
Another clade is J-BY527 under one of the major Arab clade (J-FGC11) and you know what ? The Lebanese here is a Maronite who is autosomaly 100% Levantine.
Genetic is very complexe so if you want ot be sure about your origins, just do an autosomal/Haplogroup tests.
