I'm dealing with the SAME crap! Buddy's bike. I adjusted valves. Starts right up cold. Will NOT start when hot. Rebuilt fuel pump with All Balls kit. New temp head sensor. I'm now at thinking dumping in another $100+ for an injector because at 68 degree's F, it tests in spec with ohm meter but when hot it tests out of spec. After that will be the stator because when hot the pulse coil was nearly out of spec at 279 ohm's but when cool it was in spec at like 245 ohm's. Someone even said sounds like a "leaky" injector so I held the throttle wide open while trying to start (which actually leans the bike out due to a fuel cut off sensor?) but it still did not start. So....currently what I have to do is turn the idle adjust knob all the way in clockwise until it stops, kick bike over 2-3 times until it tries to fire, then turn idle back out (usually 45 turns) and it will start up. Try that during a race!! You'll end up on the box for sure. These bikes are bullsh!t.
I watched this video because I had bought a KX450f as a first dirt bike switching over from a 300 ATV..I could figure out how to start the KX and seem like the kick start was just not working which the only way to start the bike…just when listed the bike I thought maybe I should find a UA-cam video on a KX start up…after watch this it started right up on the first actual kick…I still sold the bike because the guy was already on his way….but man I hated to sell it and I didn’t want to be that guy to drop out of a deal at the last second….
Could be the injector or valve adjustment. They make an injector cleaner now. I haven’t dealt with that issue with fuel injection. If it was a carb I’d say a jet is plugged.
It's all good when they are running. But I started on Suzuki and Suzuki is the worst junk of all motorcycles , I race MX and I had everything break on My Suzuki 2 stroke like crazy little parts and I put 4 sets of transmission gears in 3 years but I did race 6 Moto's on every Sunday. The parts on a Suzuki are expensive and all of the Vet riders road Hondas so now I know why I ride a Honda. a 2010 crf450r still going strong haven't even rebuilt it stock motor have raced many Moto's but not 6 Moto's like I used to. I love my Honda CRF450R OLD RELIABLE. BUT NOW I'VE GOT TO DO A VALVE SHIM ADJUSTMENT ON THIS COUNTRY BOYS KX450 THANK YOU I'M SENDING THIS VIDEO TO HIM CUZ HE JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW EASY IT REALLY IS SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN'T THINK FOR THEMSELVES.
Hey, so i just bught kxf250 2013 and first day a ride it lile for 2hours whit no problems start's first, second cick cold/hot... So i got hom e late parked it in a garage come next day pull ot out... Pull the choke started first time so i leave it on choke for like 1min then gear up and came to turn the choke off it dies on me... So i started it again first kick whit no choke but it starts to die so i give it al litle throttle and it dies sinc then it wnot start i checked the valves they are okay, it got fuel, air, spark i can kick it over and over a milion times and every 10kicks start's for like one second and just dies.... I'm hopples any recomendations?
Have you replaced the spark plug? You may have wet fouled the plug staying on choke so long. Impossible to clean after that. I’d start with a fresh plug if you haven’t tried that already.
My kx 250f had the valves shimmed and still is a bitch to start. A buddy and me tried kicking it for like 20 min with no luck and then all I did was unplug the tps and plug it back in and i started it second kick, then it ran and idled tits! The tps was recently replaced before the valves were shimmed so idk if it's electrical or if it could be the stator? I was gunna just replace the stator cuz the shop said it was putting out low amperage but then saw how much a stator is and decided to hold off. Dunno if you have any ideas?
I haven’t messed with the tps on any bikes. I have seen stators put out low amps before. A lot of the old Yamaha 4 wheelers had that issue where they wouldnt start with the electric start because the stator was weak and it needed to spin faster. But you could pull start it by hand and it would start. I would think kicking would be just as good as pull starter. So it’s hard for me to say. I hope you can get it fixed. Sorry I wasn’t any help.
Rob Carter I don’t remember. I do remember it lighting up. It would come on during kick and maybe stay a little after. Feel like it may have been solid but no guarantee.
I adjusted my throttle cable at the throttle body and forgot to reconnect the pressure sensor before I put it back together. Kicked forever and it wouldn't start. Reconnected the pressure sensor and like he said it took about 100 kicks to get it started.
Trying to figure out why my kx450f takes 30 kicks, but it’ll roll start no problem. I’m not a fan on roll starting it, I wanna just be able to kick it 2-3kicks
@@Tru251 no. I do my own. I have a video on how to do a valve adjustment as well. Check it out. Most shops will trade you out for valve shims cuz the valve wears and not the shim. But if you have to buy some they are cheap. Or you can buy a whole set for about 90 bucks

So my bike will only run with the high idle on, once it’s turned off, it dies immediately. Starts right up though with the high idle. I’m stumped

Could need a valve adjustment. When you get to needing to roll start it then you need to do valves.
