I used a long 4x4 post with cement blocks inside the camper and all 4 corners and gradually lifted the roof. I used my floor jack to do the lifting and the post with blocks for support
I'm doing the same thing on my Jayco that you did here. Stuck, though; how did you pinch the 1/8-inch cable double-loop inside the slugs? Looks to me like the regular 1/8-inch ferrules are to big.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the good information really appreciate 👍
You’re welcome….. more to come 👍
Thank you!
Was curious if you have any suggestions on where to find an inside support beam for the 1990 jayco popup?
I think you would have to create you own. I’m sure that (4) 2x4’s would work…. Just paint and maybe decorate them so they don’t stand out.
They make them. I found one on eBay.
Do you need to take out the square tube That houses the coil in order to attach the cable?
I actually scrapped the camper a few years ago as it was becoming a money pit.
How do u lift the roof just by hand cables are broken. What is the best way to work on it

I used a dremel to cut the cable to lenth. I then looped the cable into the ferrule and it worked out.
@@landrysworkshop I think I understand,, but want to check. You used the Dremel to reduce the diameter of the cable on the slug end?
The used a smaller ferrule to secure the loop?
Then used a smaller ferrule to secure the loop in the slug?
@@nancygoodreau2126 yes… after cutting the cable…. you trim off the frayed ends and put the cable through the ferrel
Could you tell me what size eye bolt you used? I think mine has the same issue.
I think the diameter of the eye is 2 inches... I’ll check again when I get back home and let you know
What size pulleys you used i see you replace the old ones with new and better quality ones tht bolt on
I unfortunately scrapped the camper a few months ago
What is the length of cable used?
I unfortunately scrapped the camper a few months ago. The project wasn’t going anywhere
