That is very true, but I think that Karl is so original that the other two may be trying to process what he just said! (or commenting to egg him on.) I've had friends that are that outlandish, too, and I said things much like Gervais does. Have a good one!
@CaptainRooble IMO part of what makes the show so funny is the fact that Ricky and Steven wail on Karl, but it still never hinders his storytelling, and he always has a funny response to their logic. This clip just doesn't really illustrate it that well.
I just read Gervais' Blog and he made fun of the people who think that this show is scripted. I think Pilkington is saying weird stuff to make it more interesting. I just watched " An Idiot Abroad" Karl is perfectly sane and laid back...Ricky and Merchant tickle this stuff out of him. Even if he seems like he doesn't care...I'm sure he likes to be funny. I have been watching the Ricky Gervias Show and it's quite hilarious, but I must admit, I don't agree with the denigrating comments that Ricky Gervais constantly makes against Karl Pilkington. He's the reason why Gervais and Merchant are making so much money in the first place! Bully arseholes!
@FranBMan fair enough. after all what are friends for. but I will say that just because his ideas are out there doesn't mean he's a lunatic. After all, once upon a time you had to be a lunatic by societies standards to think the earth was round...

And ignorance is the lack of knowledge. Karl lacks knowledge because his brain simply will not hold the information. He is always reading or watching for info, but he gets it all mixed up. That is the comedy in it, and shows the low (but not non existent, ofc) intelligence. But the things he intuitively KNOWS, he trusts in utterly. High wisdom.
@vodka2727 Actually, he's NOT being "open minded" - Ricky has studied the evidence and changed his beliefs based on that actual tangible evidence. That's far more the mark of an open mind than someone who refuses to change their beliefs in spite of the facts - that, in fact, is a perfect summary of someone closed-minded, and not at all open minded. P.S - none of this is a slant on KP - he's the man! But don't like the fact Ricky's being slagged off for pointing out evidence.

Because he is a baffling person. I put it down to a low intelligence, but a high wisdom. Karl is very wise, he intuitively knows many things, and does not trust today's religion, "science" to tell him the truth. But he can't verbalize reasons for that, or remember or understand enough language to get that across to the science congregation. I found out the lies through study, and can verbalize it, but Karl JUST KNOWS... High wisdom, low intelligence.
