@@stephenhall5430 I’ve done the dorsal and anal fin attached before but they end up being difficult to work around when I’m burning scales and I end up breaking one off. So it’s just easier for me to do them separately. The only reason I carve the tail on is because it was always the hardest to fit and finish for me. And the only problem with carving the blank with the tail on is sometimes the grain is not running quite the right direction and it can make the finished tail more fragile. If I do a bigger heavier bodied fish like a 10 pound bass, I think I’d do the tail separate and glue a blank for a tail with slightly different grain direction for the top and bottom. Hopefully having the grain direction running horizontal to the tail lobes if that makes sense.
I love how you did the gills, you make it look too easy.
I don’t know about easy, but if you’re going to show gills I feel like it’s the best way.
Great job! Thanks for another lesson. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Yes

Yeah I hope it gets there soon.
Hey Danny do you like making fins seperate or cut out with body keep them attached
I cut and carve all the fins separately except for the tail. I rough it in with the blank.
@Danny_Harris-Arts thanks I tried the ones hooked to the main body it was hard to work on them. I think I will try like you do .
