Here is the thing...The Gauntlet was very good about doing this with tons of Spidey's villains. Shocker with the suit that canceled kinetic energy, was terrifying. Teleporting Electro. Speaking of Condiment King, I vaguely remember reading a comic where he actually almost killed Tim Drake due to an allergic reaction he got from one of his spices. So yeah, even the goofiest of villains can actually be dangerous once in a blue moon.
The fight with Daredevil is interesting because of how DD sees The Spot. To sighted people, he still looks like he has the silhouette of a man, just with some black circles painted on his body, but since DD sees with sound, the dude is just riddled with holes. It's a really cool interpretation of his character design.
@@RelativelyBest Definitely piqued Daredevil's interest, I'm sure. And probably gave him ammo for some rather funny nicknames. "Swiss Cheese Man" among them.
Spot is not only a great design, but his powers are so creative. I don’t understand the “goofy villain” allegations because he’s legit a really cool concept that I’m glad the movies done justice.
Honestly in my opinion (haven’t watched spiderverse yet) the 90’s tv show has one of the best takes on the spot there is. Plus it made his portal technology have awesome overarching consequences.
Hell, he could even be the main threat in a movie like that. Imagine if the Spot could say, be connected to every other Spot via the portals he can create. Imagine an army of Spots crawling out of another's chest. They could simply swarm that universe's spider-man or whoever else, kill them, move to the next one. If any writer established a connection like this, Spot could be a multiversal threat. Could even add onto that threat by letting them combine their portals to make black holes with enough of them, and to make it darker, say the spots have to be condensed onto a single iteration of the character to turn them into the black hole like drake suggested.
I think the spiderverse trailer is giving Spot respect. He shows up looking like a goofy petty thief then has some crazy dark portal power. I love villains like that
I actually never knew The Spot was a joke character. I saw him in the 90s cartoon and his power was terrifying. He literally almost ENDED THE WORLD by opening a black hole! He was a villain I was scared of for a while and literally created my fear/infatuation of black holes.
tbf any blackhole would end the world the size doesn't matter. the size would just affect the speed so if scientists created a mini blackhole. safe tp say humans would be the next dinosaurs
I kinda like him in his original incarnation. He's a guy who just takes his superpowers out for a joyride before realizing that getting punched by superheroes hurts and hanging up the spots. We need more unmotivated people with superpowers, and Spot being sort of ordinary (Pays his bills, hits the gym maybe once a week if he remembers) could be a fun way to go with him. Every now and then a hero or villain will light a fire under him to get him off the couch, but just letting him be and having him use his powers for personal convenience rather than heroism/villainy would be kind of relatable, I think. The endless learning potential of the internet is out there, but really all we use it for is cat pictures: Same for Spot.
This is actually why I like the 90's run of She-hulk. A lot of times it's just like "Yeah, I know I'm a supervillian, but like, I've got bills to pay and this other villain is committing trademark infringement." One of my favorite comic moments to this day is a scene where all these minor villains were in a court room and She Hulk happens to burst through the wall. And as she's fighting them, she goes "Porcupine? Aren't you suppose to be dead?" And Porcupine literally goes, "You're right, I am! *Hrk*" And falls over dead. And his b-list villain friends has a South Park moment and goes "Oh my god! She-Hulk killed Porcupine! You bastard!"
This is a good idea because of how OP teleportation is in the right hands. Especially because spot Is one of the only defensive teleporters I’ve ever seen. Like he has the power to be a top villain but actually he just teleports to work in the morning. He grabs a drink from the fridge without getting up, he teleports heavy stuff upstairs.
Having him temporarily become a "hero" because some villain busted up his car as random collateral damage, so Spot beats him down... and now the villains' allies want revenge and he just wants them to piss off.
I feel like Spider-Verse has given him the potential you have been craving: they treat him initially as a meek and bumbling joke villain that everyone points and laughs at, but that gives him even more if a drive to show everyone he’s not just a joke, slowly evolving into a powerful and downright terrifying villain capable of massive destruction and death on an incomprehensible scale. Shame it took so many years for someone to give this villain the chance to shine.
The first time I saw The Spot in a comic, he was super intimidating. He just treated Spider-Man like a total joke, standing perfectly still as the Web Slinger literally couldn't stop hitting himself.
Nah but seriously imagine miles tries to shoot a web at the spot and it just gets redirected back at him?? Or he tries to shoot a web and spot makes the web hit himself??
I actually love what they did with the spot for spiderverse. He starts off dorky and not knowing his power, exactly like the comics, and they have a very good reason for his powers, along with a good reason for him to fit into the spiderverse "universe" (explaining without spoilers is hard) but by the end of the first movie, he looks so cool and menacing, I love him as a character and I hope they dont mess him up in the second (probably wont tho, the studio thats making spiderverse is amazing)
This character honestly deserves much more, he could honestly be a really cool antihero like venom or be a completely tyranical avenger level threat. he gives the same vibe plastic man does and i love it alot.
Ah, great. 😠 Now I wanna see a fight between Plastic Man and The Spot. I can only imagine the body horror *that* would create. Though I guess it's still _kinda_ possible with Reed Richards.
@@benkayvfalsifier3817 Holy shit plastic man v spot would be so cool. Plastic man would win imo he would like become a ball of yarn and thread through all of spot's holes or some looney toons shit like that
I kinda like the idea from that last part that the spot is almost like a symbolic manifestation of the spotted dimension, almost like it's sorcerer supreme even (considering how it has no other denizens that we know of), and whenever he dies or is horribly mutilated or what have you, another one just forms from the spots inside the dimension.
Just saw the spider verse movie, I can say with 100% certainly that they had gone through every appearance of the character before actually writing him because they knew exactly what they were doing with his character.
Honestly I think there’s a good chance Spot does in fact get trapped inside his self by the end of the second sequel and that whole “going kookoo because he was stuck in a black and white room for so long” thing happens.
The Spot honestly would work as a "Horror" themed villain. Imagine an abyss of nothing but white and black spots with this faceless figure attacking you at all directions, deflecting all your attacks against you. You can't run because of his teleportation, you can't physically capture him because he can literally just summon an exit, your only chance is to hide from him or exploit is his strength for his finite amount of spots.
Having came back from watching Across the Spiderverse, I can definitely say that the movie delivers on him as a character. And I'm definitely looking forward to more of him in Beyond the Spiderverse.
The Spot has a really special place in my heart for a special reason. When i was a kid I loved Spider-Man,borderline obsessed with the character. One day my dad got me a couple episodes of the 90’s Spider-Man show on DVD and one of those episodes was the one with The spot and I loved him. I’m pretty sure it was because he had a funny voice. I must have watched that episode at least 100 times. Fast forward to that Halloween and my dad of course gets me a Spider-Man costume but HE went as the spot. We took pictures with of me “beating” him and it was the best Halloween ever. I love my dad 😊
i love how seemingly everyone who wrote for Spot after his initial appearance simply saw him at a glance and decided he was a joke despite him being potentially one of the most dangerous of marvels Z-listers, like the man is a walking spacial anomaly. if we wanted to treat his power with even just a little bit of weight he could practically collapse all of reality, but it does speak volumes to the Spideverse team that they did the homework and knew EXACTLY how much Spot could become, and provide for the story
Portals are amazing. People LOVE the game Portal, Doctor Strange's portals wore one of the best powers in the MCU, Blink from X-men was so cool in Days of Future Past, Voyd from Incredibles 2 was cool! I don't understand why Spot is treated like a joke. Portals are such a cool power!
>Tries to recreate some teleportations superpowers >"screw security measures im dead anyways if this doesn't work!" >goes into the misterious hole on his own >gets out of the labyrinth of spots thanks to his memory >receive spots superpowers >decides to do some tests with his superpowers >casually approaches Spider-man >kicks his ass >stops kicking ass when superhero's girlfriend shows up >leaves >do some more tests with his powers >kicks local super hero's ass one more time >gets punched once >refuses to elaborate further >leaves
He also wasn't beaten there, technically. I remember waiting for him to return eventually since he was both strong and interesting, i couldn't believe they'd never use him again.
As someone who just finished watching 'Across the Spider-Verse' with my family, here's a summary of how The Spot was portrayed. While his origin is different since it has to include the multiverse collider from the first movie(maybe they'll mention Cloak and Dagger in the third movie since there was a mention of dark matter twice, but I wouldn't mind if they didn't), I think they did a pretty good job with the portrayal.
His specials move set in marvels contest of champions makes him an awesome villain to look at. His movement is super fluid, great work for people at kabam for making him look terrifying and fun to look at.
My new headcanon is that whenever Spot comes back to life off screen, it's like a parody of Immortal Hulk, where he goes through "The Spotted Door". And it's literally just a white door covered with spots that he just nonchalantly opens and walks through every time.
The Spot was the first Spider-Man villain I ever saw. The episode that he appears in the 1994 series was the first piece of Spider-Man media I’ve ever consumed. It always felt kinda special and nostalgic to me whenever he appeared in comics or even the 2017 show. Seeing him finally get some love makes me happy :)
as a kid I had a spot action figure and playing with that is why Spot is my favorite spider-man villain. Finding out he was roomates with my second-favorite Mysterio is actually really cool.
Teleportation powers are kinda broken, so I'm guessing a lot of writers are too lazy to think of interesting ways to use them and to defeat them, so they gotta nerf the users in some hard way. BTW I like your reference to the Shonen tournament arc use of such characters. Pretty apt.
The Spot is basically Spider Man if he was a villain. taking a silly concept, but executing it right so it actually becomes awesome. (hell, they were even two nerds who got mutated)
Oh man I love The Spot. I been wanting a mini-series or something with him in it for years. Needless to say, I got pretty hyped when I saw that he's in the next Spiderverse 2 film. I hope they get crazy with his powers and I'm glad to see that he's finally getting some recognition. Edt: Last time I saw The Spot he beat the hell out Winter Soldier. Instantly took out his arm and everything. It was pretty dope
After watching this video, The Spots origin in the ATSV is incredibly similar to his comic one. Works for Kingpin, turns to a life of crime, has his first fight with Spider-Man get interrupted. Its impressive how they practically used one issue as reference to make one of the most forgotten Spidey foes of of the best Spider-Man villains
It helps that Spider-man often forgets how he can use his webbing in multiple ways from a fine spray to a solid goo. It's not as bad as the Flash forgetting he can run after villains who "get away" in the Flash TV series but it's a solid number 2.
I know you rarely talk about TV and movies in these videos but I think its worth mentioning that The Spot's appearance in the 90s animated series played a massive factor in the characters popularity. They showcased an incredibly niche villian and began the slow snowballing effect that lead to the character being in across the spider verse
My only experience with the spot was more or less limited to the 90's Spider-Man Animated Series, but I always really enjoyed the character and the concept. I've spent more time than I care to admit thinking about having that ability. I also (for fun) like to build my own Spider-Man universe and mini stories, and the Spot is always included on the list. He might not be my favourite, but he's definitely someone I enjoy. Honestly with Spider-Man more than any other rogues gallery makes me struggle to pick a favourite villain. I can create like a top top, probably a top five. Maybe I could squeeze out a top three but I don't know...
Portal creation has always been one of my favorite superpowers, but the fact that the spot incorporates it into his body is just so sick. The whole "portal sucker punch" thing has been done by so many characters in fiction, but it's sick that spot can split his body through several portals at once
He just needs one writer to fall in love with him the way Nick Spencer fell in love with Boomerang. Between Superior Foes of Spider-Man and his ASM run Boomerang became a personal favorite
I first learned of the Spot through that comic where Wolverine kills him. It was called Wolverine: Enemy Of The State. Had no idea he was supposed to be a joke character at the time. Then in 2021, I binged Spider-Man: TAS and saw him there. Spider-Verse really gave this guy the respect he deserved! So glad he's being taken more seriously!
Great video as always. You should do one on Darkhawk. He was the first comic book character I discovered on my own and is a personal favorite. That first run was solid with a surprising amount of crossovers and went for 50 issues, and the new interpretation has potential. But the Fraternity of Raptors and the Darkhawk unit in particular have such cool lore that tie-in to cosmic significance, and it’s so slept on (even by Marvel itself).
The spider verse angle of him being multidimensional is actually a great way to explain his multiple personalities and unexplained resurrections. What if his spots don’t just link space, but also every version of him together. Each one could present differently like the various spider men throughout the spiderverse but have a kind of hive mind. That way every time one dies, the others remember and someone can jump into his dimension if they feel like it. It would also explain his different costumes and looks, it’s all him, but different hims.
I loved his appearance in Spider-man TAS. It was very brief but had an impact that lasted until the end of the series being that he was the reason green goblin found out peter's identity, by extension causing the disappearance of Mary Jane and later having the ending of the series be Peter going off to find her. Not bad for a bit character. Very worth watching.
I always liked the Spot, from his first appearance. He always had cool powers and was a fascinating idea, just really not ready for a fight with an experienced Spidey
This made me sad. The spot was one of my favorite villains of my childhood. Unfortunately i havent given him much thought since then. He has the potential to be an incredible antihero. I would love to see him as the star character in a series that fully explores his capabilities
Honestly, wearing a spotted costume actually could be a pretty clever strategy. His big weakness is being able to be hit on the white bits on his body, so having decoy spots could allow him to distract opponents by hiding his own limits.
Design alone has always made The Spot one of my personal favorite villains and I can't even explain why. There's just this vibe of someone being covered in portals and such that makes him so creepy to me.
I love Spot. He has so much potential with his powers and his fights are really creative. He can be really menacing and lean into the horror angle but he is also a wacky and nerdy guy.
God this was so incredibly timed, for those of you who know you know, and those who don’t, you will SPOILERS for anyone who isn’t in the know and wants to: The Spot in the new spiderverse and kills it.
It's just now occuring to me that the Spot is actually quite similar to one of the stand out members of my favorite Marvel superhero team: Doorman of the GLA. A story focused on the two of them could potentially be really interesting.
Ive seen Across the spider verse twice now picking it apart the best I could and let me just say they did not fail with spot, his Character arc was amazing being portrayed as a joke or the "villain of the week" and him taking that personally then him turning into one of the biggest superhero threats in a while. It was a great sequel to the first film and they finally did Spot's character justice.
The Spot was one of those villains that could have been a villain where people were like "he had so much potential." But I'm so glad his full potential was shown.
I have the original comic and was _blown away_ by this villain's potential from the start... And then by the black hole of creativity Marvel applied to said potential.
SPOILERS FOR Access the Spider-verse Bro really went from a joke to a legitimate threat in the recent movie. I like how he was getting handled easily by Miles during his intro but later was casually tripping up the 3 alternate spider folks with great precision using his holes.🕳️
The spotted dimension could be used to explain his frequent revival/reincarnation, but it could also be used to explain the inconsistencies in the characters personality/appearance by being unrestricted by time, meaning that his comic appearances may not be linear.
Yeah, I think it’s important for comic book writers to understand. That while it’s okay to change things up. They have to keep the original spirit of the character in tact. Spot is dangerous and should be treated like the threat he was meant to be. Great video drake let’s hope the new movie can bring interest back to the character.
Im telling you now i love his appearance in the animated series and felt bad his story never got resolved so seeing him in across the spiderverse is awesome
i was so pleased to see them take an admittedly goofy but super cool conceptual character seriously instead of as a bit part. been waiting for a video like this!
Got back from watching SV2 and I gotta say, they did Spots Justice because bro is legit a menace after he used the collider and learned about how he can travel to different multiverses through the portals. I’m so hyped for the third movie
having just watched it the day I'm commenting this, I'm almost certain half the reason they picked him as the main antagonist was just so they could flex even more about how unique their animation could get because HOLY SHIT. (the other half of the reason being he has a legit cool powerset & Miles' story made for a new unique origin that still works)
The tournament arc analogy was such a good one. One of my favorite tropes in those genres is just how interesting a power can be when used to its fullest potential in ways the reader might not think
4:21 a much better explanation would be that peters spidysence dosnt go off as what would you be in any danger from yourself, your mind knows that you can’t hit yourself so it dosnt defend against it, now once you learn that you can hit yourself at full force (with a little help of bending space and time) then it can adapt to warn you it’s going to happen.
Me watching Spot at the beginning of Across The Spider-Verse after being sure he was a top villain because the 90s animated series episode was so awesome: "Wait... The Spot isn't a top threat villain?! Wait... Is that why I haven't seen him since the 90s???"
Spidey villains come in three variants: intelligent complex humans that put on a costume but their powers aren't exactly a threat for superbeings (Doc Oc types), eldritch abominations whose personalities are as interesting as their powers (Venom types), and petty thieves who are dumb as a rock (Electro types) - this is spot! It's kind of crazy how many Electro types there are and how they can range from the most powerful villains like Electro to "I am Rhino and I smash walls".
I was watching the movie with a friend, and idk what went through his head, but as soon as he saw the spot, he yelled “MINOS PRIME ?!?!”. I laughed my ass off.
I never saw the Spot as a joke. I saw this guy in the *one* episode of Spider-Man TAS he was in, and he was immediately my favorite Spider-Man villain. (I mean yeah Venom and Green Goblin have way more of a pedigree, but everybody loves them already).
Back when I was in elementary, I remember seeing a character like this, and it always struck me as a weird but cool power. Now, the spot is part of a top rated movie, and no one believes me that I’ve seen this character before, not even my dad, who is a huge marvel fan.
I think it would be cool if they show the spot somehow duplicating himself as additional versions of him spawn from various "spots" each with varying levels of sanity and competency. After showing this as a possible reason he keeps reappearing they could show an advancement of his power where he can not only use the spots to teleport, but also cross dimensions since apparently the spots are already sort of connected to a dark dimension.
First off, THANK YOU! The Spot has so much wasted potential and “The Return if The Spot” is an underrated gem of a one shot. Secondly, The Spot’s son was briefly mentioned early on I believe when it was stated that he used to read him bedtime stories at night. That’s why the story that Spidey delivered at the end, Treasure Island, was so significant and where the “Black Spot” assassination mark comes from. Merry Marvelite did a video on it recently and I think he lists the issue in the description somewhere. Love this vid, and more love for The Spot! ~_~

Shame it took so many years for someone to give this villain the chance to shine.
it makes sense that the miles series was the one to do so, because it’s def without a doubt the most ambitious and it’s beautiful
Honestly, the power set this guy has should make him unstoppable, he only has one weakness: writers without imagination.
Also the fact that the hero has to win most of the time. If the writer wants you to lose at the end, you're gonna lose, no matter how strong you are
Across The Spider-verse did it right.
...and, as mentioned in the video, running out of holes in his body leaving it vulnerable for attack.
Which is a shame because his powers have so much potential.
@@ahhcount thing is he can just recall his spots when he loses to much if he simply pays attention his ONLY weakness is removed completely
No spoilers but The Spot was BY FAR the best part of Across the spiderverse. He's just so entertaining
The first time I saw The Spot in a comic, he was super intimidating. He just treated Spider-Man like a total joke, standing perfectly still as the Web Slinger literally couldn't stop hitting himself.
With his powers he could get easy money live a chill live he can travel diminsion and space etc without a ship
Deadpool would wish to have his powers 😂😂😂😂
*WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF*
*WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF*
*WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF*
Nah but seriously imagine miles tries to shoot a web at the spot and it just gets redirected back at him?? Or he tries to shoot a web and spot makes the web hit himself??
@@Purplesome_ that did happen
Spiderverse does him justice fr
Plastic man would win imo he would like become a ball of yarn and thread through all of spot's holes or some looney toons shit like that
I just stopped by this universe to look for a super-collider, and I found these videos. Thank you for the appreciation guys.
just misunderstood fr
@@burgernthemomrailer almost Spot on. no pun intended
@@burgernthemomrailer yes and no. He does go crazy but it's because people keep treating him like a joke so he powers up alot
And I'm definitely looking forward to more of him in Beyond the Spiderverse.
he's TOO POWERFUL for writers to make him more then a joke , imagine having an arsenal inside his holes dimensions while he fight
He doesn’t even need an arsenal, he can use the terrain itself as a weapon.
After Spiderverse 2, the Spot has gone from Villain of the week, to one of the biggest threats in Spider-Man history
I love my dad 😊
i love how seemingly everyone who wrote for Spot after his initial appearance simply saw him at a glance and decided he was a joke despite him being potentially one of the most dangerous of marvels Z-listers, like the man is a walking spacial anomaly. if we wanted to treat his power with even just a little bit of weight he could practically collapse all of reality,
but it does speak volumes to the Spideverse team that they did the homework and knew EXACTLY how much Spot could become, and provide for the story
Probablemente por su aspecto ridículo
Even the Dungeon & Dragon movie few months ago acknowledge the potential of portal power and make creative use with it.
>Tries to recreate some teleportations superpowers

The Spot will always be an A-List Villain to 90's Spider-Man fans
Facts
He also wasn't beaten there, technically. I remember waiting for him to return eventually since he was both strong and interesting, i couldn't believe they'd never use him again.
He sacrificed himself for the greater good and then bounced
I respect the chadness
Yup cause that’s house Peter lost MJ iykyk
As someone who just finished watching 'Across the Spider-Verse' with my family, here's a summary of how The Spot was portrayed. While his origin is different since it has to include the multiverse collider from the first movie(maybe they'll mention Cloak and Dagger in the third movie since there was a mention of dark matter twice, but I wouldn't mind if they didn't), I think they did a pretty good job with the portrayal.
His specials move set in marvels contest of champions makes him an awesome villain to look at. His movement is super fluid, great work for people at kabam for making him look terrifying and fun to look at.
He’s a great defender too! Most of the time I get my butt kicked it fighting him on arena or battlegrounds 😂
@@badmerr6758 he’s terrifying in battlegrounds 😭
Watching a competent Spot Main is horrifying. He feels like a PG MK fighter with how dangerous he is
Shoutout to the writers of Across the Spiderverse for making a joke character into an actual threat of a villain.
Seriously the guy who has this kind of power was considered "not a threat" is insane
At least the Spider-Verse team saw his untapped potential. Plus, It would be cool to see him in a Insomniac Spider-Man game.
"i created you, and you created me."
I love the way Spot was taken as a joke and ended up being this Giant threat
Oh man I love The Spot. I been wanting a mini-series or something with him in it for years. Needless to say, I got pretty hyped when I saw that he's in the next Spiderverse 2 film. I hope they get crazy with his powers and I'm glad to see that he's finally getting some recognition.
Edt: Last time I saw The Spot he beat the hell out Winter Soldier. Instantly took out his arm and everything. It was pretty dope
They go beyond crazy....they go straight-up Cosmic Horror with him.
@@jacknagel9387 Yes they do!!!! That movie was incredible.
I know you’ll be extremely happy with this next Spider-Man movie with the spot, he was far more then just redeemed
The Spot is so freaking cool. Please Marvel, continue using him as a cool villain.
That'd work with the slight echo in his voice after the power-up
I loved his appearance in Spider-man TAS. It was very brief but had an impact that lasted until the end of the series being that he was the reason green goblin found out peter's identity, by extension causing the disappearance of Mary Jane and later having the ending of the series be Peter going off to find her. Not bad for a bit character. Very worth watching.
His theme song still echoes in my mind. So chilling. So haunting. And yet, so tragic and angry. Everything about him in the movie was perfection.
This man went from C List Spider-Man Villain to Multiversal Demigod
Because of the movie?
@@gannielukks1811 Especially because of the movie
I always liked the Spot, from his first appearance. He always had cool powers and was a fascinating idea, just really not ready for a fight with an experienced Spidey
The Spider Verse has REALLY done him justice, they've balanced his goofy design with his ungodly potential
Look up trypophobia
I love Spot. He has so much potential with his powers and his fights are really creative. He can be really menacing and lean into the horror angle but he is also a wacky and nerdy guy.
God this was so incredibly timed, for those of you who know you know, and those who don’t, you will
SPOILERS for anyone who isn’t in the know and wants to: The Spot in the new spiderverse and kills it.
Now after one tragic bagel the Spot is one of the most threatening villains in comic movies.
I thought he was a joke until spiderman across the spiderverse showed how terrifying is.
I have the original comic and was _blown away_ by this villain's potential from the start...
And then by the black hole of creativity Marvel applied to said potential.
Just saw Across the Spiderverse yesterday and IT WAS A MASTERPIECE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD! THE SPOT WAS A GENUINELY GREAT VILLAIN
Story arc of redemption as a villain in across the spiderverse ❤
SPOILERS FOR Access the Spider-verse
Bro really went from a joke to a legitimate threat in the recent movie.
Holy shiet I love he gets to evolve in Across The Spiderverse, we get to see his original silly incarnation and also a super serious creepy one
Aaand, just like that, he's a multidimensional threat!
Love The Spot, one of my favorite lower ranking villains. What a fun powerset. Shame he's constantly being alternatively forgotten about or chumped.
Who else is waiting to see him in spider verse 2?
He’s definitely about to go crazy
Im telling you now i love his appearance in the animated series and felt bad his story never got resolved so seeing him in across the spiderverse is awesome
Me 😁
Same he is a really underrated villain
I love his design and how his powers look
i was so pleased to see them take an admittedly goofy but super cool conceptual character seriously instead of as a bit part. been waiting for a video like this!
9:10 I feel like this can be easily retconned to someone who was just mimicking the Spot's powers due to the inconsistencies.
Got back from watching SV2 and I gotta say, they did Spots Justice because bro is legit a menace after he used the collider and learned about how he can travel to different multiverses through the portals. I’m so hyped for the third movie
spot was done amazingly in across the spiderverse, at the end he gets a new look and i was genuinely afraid and intimidated
having just watched it the day I'm commenting this, I'm almost certain half the reason they picked him as the main antagonist was just so they could flex even more about how unique their animation could get because HOLY SHIT. (the other half of the reason being he has a legit cool powerset & Miles' story made for a new unique origin that still works)
The tournament arc analogy was such a good one. One of my favorite tropes in those genres is just how interesting a power can be when used to its fullest potential in ways the reader might not think
So glad he's in across the spiderverse paralleling his first inception with his updated look
It's commonly stated that Spider-man's spider sense doesnt work on the Spot's attacks since they start in another dimension
Me watching Spot at the beginning of Across The Spider-Verse after being sure he was a top villain because the 90s animated series episode was so awesome:
"Wait... The Spot isn't a top threat villain?! Wait... Is that why I haven't seen him since the 90s???"
I love how one of the big reasons the spot hates miles so much is because he hit him with a bagel
also the fact that a bagel is probably the closest you can get to explaining his power with food
“His power can get out of control and he can turn into a black hole”
*literally what happens in the spiderverse movie*
Spidey villains come in three variants: intelligent complex humans that put on a costume but their powers aren't exactly a threat for superbeings (Doc Oc types), eldritch abominations whose personalities are as interesting as their powers (Venom types), and petty thieves who are dumb as a rock (Electro types) - this is spot!
It's kind of crazy how many Electro types there are and how they can range from the most powerful villains like Electro to "I am Rhino and I smash walls".
Rhino puede pelear con hulk y juggernaut
Hey, Rhino is no slouch either. Iron Man grow respect to Spider-Man and start to understand his pain on regular basis after he faced Rhino once.
@@raydhen8840 Dude's MO is literally to Ram into things to make money.
I was watching the movie with a friend, and idk what went through his head, but as soon as he saw the spot, he yelled “MINOS PRIME ?!?!”. I laughed my ass off.
Yeah. I like Spot's line "Prepare myself!"
@@ARTOFFICIAL1980 and then he drop kicks himself on accident
I knew someone was gonna quickly talk about The spot after the spiderverse movie. Love this villain
I love the idea that spot can never truly die. Like, he just keeps coming back slightly different every time
First off, THANK YOU!
~_~
I'm sad there's a good chance we won't see him in the new Spider-Man game. He'd be so cool to see how he'd play in a video game
