I've been mind mapping for 15 years or more, and found that MindManager and MindView have the richest features for project management and robust MS Office integration. I looked at MindGenius years ago, but might be worth another look based upon this video.
My thought exactly. I have a hard time taking any of these "Best Mind Mapping"-videos seriously when they do not mention all market leaders, such as MindManager. Also, Visio isn't even a purpose-built Mind Mapping Software and is not unique in the sense of pulling data from other Office docs - MindManager can do the same thing... I'd be happy to show you / MindManager Presales.
Tried many Mindmapping apps, before coming to the conclusion that I really need a Whiteboard a.k.a. Brainstorming app instead. M.M. apps seem to want to lock me into a structure or preshaped template - I can't drag single elements/notes wherever I want them. Are there more graphically free-style M.M. apps I've missed - where your content doesn't have to conform to a template?
This. I just want something simple where I can move bubbles around, distinguish them by color/size/whatever, zoom in and out with a pinch to see as much as I want, and to do something simple like double tap to make a new bubble. Dont need a whole bunch of fancy photoshop features that kind of ruin the point, just direct intuitive spacial controls.
Hi @pbasswil, thanks for your question! Based on what you're looking for Miro would be one great option. You can choose from a plethora of templates or just start a blank board from scratch. You can also start from scratch and then add in templates at any time. Another tool to check out would be FigJam! Hope this helps :)
hi, thanks for the recommendaton, I´ve been looking for the same, but it seems there is no more free version of Miro available?@@thedigitalprojectmanager
Awesome video format with very interesting software selections. I appreciate the clear breakdown and funny edits! Great presentation that should have a lot more views.
Some of us neurally different people cannot sort music from teaching...please consider doing away with background music...it is exhausting to try to stay "on" what you are saying. Bottom line? I am NOT going to pay monthly (more than about .25 cents) for a simple software tool that was ONCE FREE (freemind worked SO well). I am NOT going to pay 400.00 to own any software...I have to keep my lights on and eat! (very frustrated)
Hi @marianwhit, we're sorry to hear the background music made it difficult to focus on the content of the video. Thanks for letting us know! There are a lot of mind mapping tools that offer free version. If you're needing suggestions, we have an article that goes over 10 different tools in more detail > thedigitalprojectmanager.com/tools/mind-mapping-software/ Hope this helps!
did you find a tool that works for you?, I'm starting to look for one now without a sub, I don't mind single payment, hope you found something, such a slog to search through
Thanks for your feedback! And, sorry to hear you're not a fan of most of our recommendations. 😫 Would love to know which mind mapping tools are your favorites!
@RobertSpiller ... only negative part of TheBrain is the Help. No written index with functions to look up. Instead it have hurling videos and might not show how to do your issues.
Tried it. Its a mess couldn't figure out what is the hype around it. After a few weeks of trial and error i still couldn't figure out how to do the most basic things. Uninstalled
Which is the best and free one ?

@dreamingthelife ... Simplemind Pro is a onetime payment of approximately $50
SimpleMind Pro
And Xmind?
I think the Brain got these beat by a mile.
I've been working with research for more than 10 years. All these options are quite bad except for Miro.

How these are a subscription based models I will never know and won't buy into. These should be buy once and not for '00s of $$
Miro has Unstable Connection, always lost Connection
I can't trust anyone who organises their books by size.
😂
Twwwiddddaaaah
Far too many annoying interfering and disturbing video clips illustrating the obvious topics; at the beginning of the video (first 4 min)
Obsidian able to do more than all mentioned mindmapping tools.
how?
