This is my hardest run of the 2024 ski season. A variety of factors led to me skiing this pretty poorly (see description) but I'm still glad I got to try out this iconic run! I definitely want to come back here as a better skier and reattempt this run on a better day!

Hey Arjun wondering if you planned to ski aspen again next year. Also wondering if you have skiid the cirque before at aspen snowmass and your thoughts on that. Thanks

Hi Sam! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back to Aspen next year, but it's certainly in the cards in the future! The Cirque was one of my most anticipated zones at Snowmass but unfortunately, it was one of the few major expert zones that was fully closed during my visit due to lack of snow. That along with several other reasons is why I want to come back soon, but not before I try out a few other resorts!

Dang the snow conditions look terrible

Yeah I wouldn't call them terrible but it wasn't ideal. Very heavy snow and not enough of it. Still a really cool run!

Was this steeper than the steep gullies for you?

I've unfortunately not had the chance to visit A-basin yet so I can't give you a personal verdict on which zone is steeper. What I can say is that according to FATMAP, the website where I get all my steepness info, both the Steep Gullies and Highland Bowl are roughly the same steepness and length. The difference is that, of course, the Steep Gullies are far more technical than any run in Highland Bowl. So while they might be relatively similar, pitch-wise, the Steep Gullies are definitely more challenging in general!

@@arjunskiYes, I struggled with all the rocks at the entrance to the steep gullies. Really tough runs at the choke/into to the chute, but when they become clear, so much fun. Look forward to seeing the future video. Upper east wall is awesome too.

A-basin is definitely really high on my bucket list. Both the East Wall and Steep Gullies zones look really cool though I definitely want to get a bit better before I try them!

Hey i was thinking about starting to post some of my own vids and was wondering where u get the steepness info from for each trail? I think it def helps you see the true steepness with the gopro effect and all. Also great video, looks pretty steep up there with some sketchy conditions.

Good question! For this particular video, Aspen Highlands actually lists out the max and average pitch of each run in the bowl on the trail map so I just used that. For every other video, I use FATMAP.com which is an amazing 3D map that allows you to see runs in high detail and get various statistics such as vertical, length, and pitch. Not sponsored, just love the product and highly recommend it!
Thank you! Conditions were definitely a bit sketch but I'm still really happy I got to experience this awesome run!
