    Lucky we are indeed! To live in this part of the world! Love this video! That stretch of the river is so special. You went for it on the miles! Great job! Thanks for sharing! Hike on!

      It seems like that upper section of the trail doesn't get hiked very much. I just wish there were a couple better camping options and/or established campsites along the way. I keep leaving no trace, so I'm no help .... 😂

      @@mountainwanderer I dunno, the elevation out there might do me in with a big pack!
      I slept outside for the first time in a while a couple nights ago. Something was making a real ruckas around 10 PM with all the crunchy leaves on the ground. Definitely spooky to hear something walking around nearby!

      That is the beauty of having Timber around, he takes care of the things that go crunch in the night!

    back in the late 70s i used to hunt the area north of Jordan camp up off of Beaver peak. Man there are some tough areas in there. the elk had wallows deep in the ravines and even at 18 years old some of those hikes made you whimper. Hard to believe its been 45 years or so but now my knees make it tough to go to the mailbox. MAKE YOUR MEMORIES WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG.

    Beautiful area! You were punching the miles! Those Cervid visits after dark can be a bit spooky! Glad you had Timber with ya! It’s good every once in a while to see what you’ve still got in the tank. Some really nice fall color! 🍁🍂Great solo trip! 🥾⛰️

    Thanks for sharing the great video. I grew up elk hunting with my family in this area. Watching this brought back a ton of memories of family that isn't here any longer. I tried to hike Alden Creek a couple of years ago. The blowdowns were thicker than Timber's fur. Since I only had a couple days available, I gave up after half of mile or so of trying to fight my way over, under, up, down, and around. Next time, I need to plan a longer trip and take a saw.

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Рік тому

      As soon as I read this I had to jump back to my map and make sure I knew where you were talking about. I've thought about taking that route many times. There is no good way to loop back to the trail without a massive road walk, so I've never done it. Sounds like no one else is doing it either. The blowdowns can be hell!

    I did not know you are from CDA. I live in PF. One-time years ago, when we had our pack Llamas, we had a large male with full pack on roll off that steep section of trail at the top of trail 20. He rolled all the way to the bottom, pack and everything in them just all over the place. He gets up as if he just fell over, we packed him back up and went along our way down to Jordan camp. I love your videos... even a lot of them that I have done, just love watching you do them, and your editing style is great.

    Great trip and video! Love those flying buttresses of Cathedral Rocks. Your videos really make me miss that area. If you are ever looking for new nearby areas, check out the Kettle Range. Shasta Bubba has somewhat of a recent video. I’ll be sticking around here until at least Christmas, and even then wont have time for a trip. Thinking I need to head up the Elwha again soon though. And I’ve never been to the Bogachiel. Big, beautiful trees, but I really miss the North Idaho, somewhat open forests. Thanks again for sharing.
