The lagg your experiencing when opening some doors and hatches is actually the light you have in your base btw. ray tracing is trying to recalculate the lighting for every frame of the door opening and causes your fps to drop dramatically.
Finally. You follow my request to make Ark asa compact bases. I'm happy again. Hope you are great Kviden. Please make a 1 AND a 2 foundation supercompact base desing for solo players. Also a 2 x 2. No turrets needed.
I tinkered around with some super compact ones like that already and just gave up, the new building system is nice but its waaaaayyy stricter in some regards. So unless they change it some throughout ASA's early access I doubt I'll be able to make anything as small as I used to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Both bases can be destroyed in about 15 minutes using Beer and rocket runs. The one with the turrets all over it and bear traps on the top is even more susceptible because as a PVPer, I would deliberately target the lower foundations to crumble the entire structure. Once someone reaches Tek tier, they'll just pick off the plants and turrets at range and C4 the foundations out. It's not a bad starter to build something better but I wouldn't rely on it long term.
I think we are all a little mad the the pesky rocks because we are supposedly on a next gen engine now , so this should not be an issue yet it is….. 😮😅
i dont know how it happened, but somehow i have 200 hours already without trying hard xD i like this updated game so much. (we dont talk about crashes and dumb bugs like flying dinos or buggy saddle platforms) i liked using this method, that might help making your base even more safe: if you want to make your base thicker, you can still layer walls, but not like it used to work. First layer are large walls (not necessary if its just 2 walls high), then fill it up with normanl walls. after that snap quarter walls into them and add normal walls to the new snappoints of the quarter walls. after that fill everything with pillars and then with beams and you have everything possible snapped into one wall. the only question is, if its woth the immense cost, compared to the effort someone needs to destroy that shit xD but if you have too many ressources and you dont know what to do with them - do this xD oh and if the base is not on a pillar, put the genni upstairs - trikes have no chance xDDD
id be interested to see if there's any viable treehouse builds for pvp perhaps with multiple platforms and the ground reinforcing the structure using pillars and support from surrounding tree platforms but idk you're the building expert not me; was just thinking maybe a treehouse would be less meshable than other base types....could pillars be sent sideways to another trees platform and connected to support the structure?
another thing id be interested to see would be anything creative underwater since vaccuum compartments were reworked, but even just a compact vaccuum cube base would be intriguing

Fix floating rocks in your video settings. Enable foliage and fluid interaction. Then put the next 3 settings below it to 1.

2:53 It's because you have to start from the ground and build up or the pillar doesn't give support. He demonstrates by picking it up with ceilings.
