Thank you, Aaron. Both my husband and I have noticed terrible battery life on our Apple Watch 7s since the last update. We’ve had our watches almost a year and my battery health is at 96%.
My Ultra gen 1 lasts 3-4 days with various unneeded (for me) features turned off. Since watchOS 10 it’s now more battery hungry but still confidently 3 days. Wish we could get an 80% limiter on the watch as well so I could just charge every night.
I actually learned a couple of things this morning. I have the Ultra 2 and I am usually at 75% by the end of my day. I turn AOD off, but I guess I never noticed the background refresh setting, which I have changed and I guess I never knew about the settings for workouts. I am going to change them now and see what happens. I am blown away by the battery life I do get now, so I am curious to see how much it improves by making those changes
Thanks for this video Aaron. I've turned most things off but the thing is we shouldn't have to do this, my watch was fully functional and doing great under os 9.5, Apple have really messed up and they're still not fixing this issue
if you are using the Ultra, i think it is better to use all the features to utilize its price then if you want to save more battery if you travel for more than 3 days then use power saving mode, its easy to access than turning off some features.

Nice video, personnally I bought my Ultra 2 just 4 days ago received un stable 11.1 Watch os; and my battery capacity was 100%. I did 2 hikes with the app called workoutdoors and I installed 11.2 bêta 1 and my battery capacity si already downed at 96%..do you think its the app workoutdoors who ruined it or the watchOS 11.2 bêta 1?
People are strange … they buy a Smart Watch with Lots of functions because they find those important. It’s obvious: more functions will use more battery. Later they turn the functions off to save battery. What is then the purpose of buying an expensive Watch. Thanks Aaron, you have a lot of courage to make these Videos.
Som people care about battery most, some may just want to extend it. I turn very little off as I like the features, but others don't need things. Just depends on what they bought it for.
Nice video as always. I love those tips to increase battery life on Apple Watch. I have an Apple Watch Series 6 (40 mm) and I use sleep tracking and the always on display every day. I get a battery life of 2 days when not using workouts. Keep it up!! 🎉👍
I have an ultra 2 which was running wonderfully on wathOS 10. I rencently updated to 10.1 and it absolutely ruined the amazing battery life. Also its impossible to downgrade... So, this video comes handy... nevertheless we need a fin update ASAP.
Using a Apple Watch 6 with a terrible battery life as well on watch OS 10.1.1. Lasts not even a day (on watch OS 9 easily) and the battery health has dropped from 91 to 86% in a month.
Isn't the smartwatch smart enough to stop using the wifi when not needed? also, don’t we need those updates to be installed? Which is better, to turn off the wrist raise or the display as a whole? Isn't the brightness automatically based on the sensors and environment?
Hello Aaron, Do we expect apple watch Ultra-3 next year ? I am planning to upgrade from apple watch series-6 to ultra-2 , but its not urgent. If a new upgraded Ultra-3 coming next year i can wait for it. What you say ? Is Ultra-3 expected next year ?
Way too early to know. I mean, in a world where Apple upgrade pretty much every device yearly, id say so, but since you’re one a three year old watch, upgrade to the Ultra 2. I upgraded from the series 6 to the series 9, and it’s night and day difference. Why not just upgrade now, and have 3+ years easily? 😊
It does seem a bit absurd though that the Series 9 has up to 2000 nits and the Ultra 2000 to 3000 nits but brightness only has three user selectable levels The wake setting choices of 15 or 75 seconds also seems like something that was chosen for the first Watch and has never been considered since. Why can’t users pick 25 seconds, for example. It doesn’t make much sense, does it?
On WatchOs 10.2, I've had my watch on with everything enabled (Ultra 2) and I'm at 78 percent after 7:00 Am until 12:30 AM (next day). Seems good to me.
my iPhone 13 battery is draining fast since 17.0.3 and got worsen with 17.1 😔 + overnight drain is terrible with 12-15% with wifi, bluetooth and location turned off...previously it used to be 4% overnight drain
thanks my s7 is dying daily and i forgot where sensors were since i never use them they waste power, also loud noice annoymed me since i work with machines i get it alot not for long terms for like 5 to 30m.
I have found that the ‘Do not Disturb’ mode helps me to get more out of my Apple Watch Ultra’s battery so it doesn’t alert you to Stand Reminders etc when it lights up the screen. I only use Do not Disturb Sme of the time though as I like to experience what Apple designed it to do. The Ultra 2 model is my 1st as I didn’t buy the 1st ultra from Last year and I intend on trying to make Battery Health last as long as it’s possible!
I found the fix for myself for the massive battery drain issue. It was not the OS or the beta OS. It was the third party app, MobyFace eating all my battery life and draining it in the background! I uninstalled it from my Series 8 and AWU1 and now the battery is back to normal levels! Three day life again
Really? Shoot I have MobyFace installed, too. Let me go ahead and try this now. Hope it'll work! Thanks! Update: Uninstalled, restarted both units, and 40mins after having it fully charged, it only decreased 1%! Wayyy better now. Thank you so much!
For blind users like me, it's a good idea to immediately disable any always on feature of the iPhone and Apple Watch. Also the voiceover screen reader on all Apple systems accept maybe the TV has a screen curtain that blacks out the display and can easily be toggled on or off while Voiceover is running.
Battery tip - Don’t update to watch 10.1! My series 7 used to get almost 2 days worth of use, since 10.1 it has been cut in half and the O2 sensor icon has disappeared form all complications!
Almost 2 days on Series 7? When mine was brand new I could get somewhere there. Now it's 11 month and battery health is 93%. With the current version of WatchOS I am lucky to get 16h out of it. 10.1 seems to me a little better than the previous version. But it generally goes from 100% to 30% in about 12-13h.
If I have my iPhone with me I , turn off the mobile service and can still receive calls through my watch via my provider over WiFi . This gives me 3 days on my Apple ultra 1 .

There is something you can try. The hard restart of the watch. Sometimes Apple devices get better in terms of the battery after this. To force restart, hold down the side button and the Digital Crown at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Apple Watch Ultra gets incredible battery life typically. If you are comparing it with Garmin I woudl agree, but compare it with Samsung or Pixel Watch and it does much better.

Hi
These battery issues people are having, are shady Apple tactics for people to have to buy their new crap every year. I can’t believe people actually fall for that, and give these companies their hard earned money every year.. Wow ..
I love your videos, but your opening sentence is completely false. Apple Watch does not get decent battery life. It gets mediocre battery life, at best.
Apple Watch Ultra gets incredible battery life typically. If you are comparing it with Garmin I woudl agree, but compare it with Samsung or Pixel Watch and it does much better.
