The 5 is probably the best for most people who want a good pair but don't want to spend over a thousand dollars for occasional use. If you use them every day professionally then go for an expensive brand
I have this two, the monarch m7 8x42 and the Prostaff 7 10x12, I recommend having both. But if u have to choose, I recommend any nikon like the Prostaff 8x42 or Monarch 8x42 both are great but the monarch has an edge with color rendition and contrast. The 10x42 is only better if u need more reach but the fov is a bit smaller.
HGs hands down superior I have both and there's a huge night and day difference in sheer optical clarity and worth the extra cost. I no longer use my M7 after buying the 10x42 and 8x30 HGs.
I am a very senior citizen. I had one 10x50, which became difficult for me to handle due to hand shaking. Now, instead of 8x42 should I go for 6x32? Will it be lighter and more useful, though magnification will be only six times?
I am looking to buy a present and in the wetlands centres WWT they sell a model Curlew which is called Badger if you buy it online. The 8x32 are under 500g, and the 8x42 are just over 600g and you can get them both for under £100 each and they are fully waterproof - hope that gives you some other options!

When were the new monarch series models released?
still can't decide between 5 and 7.. As a senior do not want anything to heavy.
