Doesn’t matter who the Steelers QB is. That o-line is still horrible and has been since before Ben retired. Both Fields and Wilson were running for their lives behind this line the entire season. Until they fix the o-line, no QB is going to work.

They are an extremely young O-line most only in their 2-3rd year coming up. It takes time for O-linemen to develop. can't say they haven't tried to upgrade it with all the draft pick they have used these past two years.

I think if the team keeps one, it needs to be Fields. Wilson is a better quarterback, but he is getting older and his height limits his ability to throw passes in the middle of the field. Fields could be a bridge quarterback and his mobility is another thing the defenses have to defend against. Wilson was given the chance and in Dec when the schedule got tough, he lost every game.

Russell Wilson should pack it in or accept a role as a back up. Nowhere near as good as history suggests - decent backyard qb but not a defence reading / leader (terrible optics on history re locker room dynamics - possibly due to his subliminal self knowing that there was an element of 'Iucked out' in his psyche) / precision dissect the field player. He achieved more than his talent would have in other circumstances. Then, in some cases understandably, it went to his head. Fields - unsure, so therefore keep.

Justin Fields is a back-up, not a starter, they had to limit the offense with Fields in there because he can't read an NFL defense. In Fields 4 wins he threw 2 TD passes, in those four games, they won those games with defense and special teams, not Fields throwing the ball. As for him developing? He has started 44 games and still can't do the basics. If the Steelers want to compete with Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow? Justin Fields is not the guy, move on.

Russ can still play. Give him an Oline that can protect, a running game that he can lean on, and WR talent/depth, and Russ is good for 4kyds and 30 TDs. The problem with the Steelers offense this year was personnel, not the QB. But they laid a foundation they can build on.

Why do so many people act like Fields is going to be cheap? He’s not on a rookie contract. Why should he continue to take prove it deals? If he can get paid what does he owe the Steelers after benching him after six games with a 4-2 record and playing Russ seemingly not to give up a 4th round draft pick? Fields has consistency but it’s time to decide if he wants a career with a perpetual better than the average team or wants an opportunity to make a statement elsewhere. In Chicago Fields was an exceptional scrambler but inaccurate as a passer. There’s only so long the OL can hold their blocks and the line was mediocre. But Justin took forever and there were open players not being thrown to. If Fields’ reads improved and that’s difficult to know he is franchise level. If not he’s exciting to watch but middle of the pack at best. Whatever he does I hope it works out for him. He was a lot of fun to watch until he was passing, then it was 50/50 balls on screens.. He had DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet to pass to. That isn’t a bad group. He also had a poor head coach (but good defensively) with inflexible OCs that held him back more than the front line did.

And look what happened to Chicago after he left? Had the Bears not had access to the top QB of the draft JF would still be their starter. If I remember correctly JF players are good for the Steelers. If not for JF stepping up Steelers would not be making the Playoffs

Chicago!!Caleb look like the worst QB in the draft and we’re considered a generational talent,!!!And you say there a reason the bears traded Fields, your argument ended right there lol

@@STEELPROOF-BULLYS Caleb looked like a rookie who, overall, had good season in a bad situation, and he put up all time rookie numbers...Nearly 3700 yards passing 500! Rushing 22 TD and 6 INTs .. If that's the worst in the draft, then I'll take it.. Easy!!

Why do you talking heads keep pushing Fields. The guy is just not got it. For $1Million 1 year great spot player, but he has not future. Draft and hope to find a Brady.

This depends on the money. Fields is gonna want big money . Wilson might too. Both will require building a better team around them. Of course receivers will want Russ cuz his passing game is much better. They still need a better back than Harris and better OL. Either way, they both are replaceable and the sooner the better considering the nfc north’s competitiveness.

They need more/better WRs (Pickens is a time bomb, Van Jefferson is trash, Calvin and Williams are ok, but underutilized)
