Seen sooo many people scrutinising the packaging. If you’re On a tight budget, what does it matter what the packaging is like. I’m really impressed with the asda range! Haven’t tried all the items, but the bits we have had, have been great: x
Exactly! I pour my rice into a container, same with pasta. Once it’s in, who knows whether it’s Waitrose Essentials or Asda essentials 😉 I used to work for a continental food production company. We supplied pasta and continents meats to Asda, Sainsburys, M&S… the same product. Different pack.. 🤫
@@TheBudgetMumUK I store mine the same way. I’ve been shocked by peoples reaction to the packaging. As long as ther is a meal on the table for everyone, what does it matter what colour the packaging is. X
@@Tiredmum that’s a bonus then. People are so snobby it drives me insane! I will try the majority of the range, if I don’t like it, I don’t buy it again! Simple xx
We swapped our whole shop to Asda own brand last week and I was amazed at how much we saved. The kids, who are the hardest critics, love some of the stuff and prefer it to the branded items! I think everyone is wising up and buying the essentials though as most of the stuff are out of stock.
I love Asda essentials and don’t care what colour the packaging is. I’d rather eat well than worry about what other people think. Good for Asda, every penny helps. At least they are doing something unlike our useless government. Give it a go you’ve got nothing to lose and pennies to gain x
You can cook a packet of mince add frozen veg or tinned veg to bulk it up then use half of the mince for cottage pie and he other half for to make a nminced beef pie love fran xxx
I do exactly the same type of meal planning - dinners first so I can work out what will probably give me leftovers for lunch, then just fill in the gaps if I need to 👍
Oh so good idea to to this video. Im slowly checking all shops to learn different price range. I have Asda near and it is on my list. Even if it will be only restock rice and pasta 😜
Could I ask where you got the weekly meal plan and grocery shopping list from please? I could do with one that has all three meals of the day for the meal plan. Rather than the one I just ordered which just has a small box per day for meals.
Here in the US, about 40 years ago, we had a slew of generic products hit the market, labeled in black and white with the simple name of the item inside listed. Not everything was top quality, but most items were at least on the level of house brands (which for the most part were and still are made by major manufacturers). It seems that ASDA is now doing the same thing there in the UK. I would love to see this sort of thing return here in the US.
This is a really good vlog with lots of brilliant but sensible ideas. Thank you. You mention that you wrote a book and that it is free but Amazon are currently charging £1.99. Maybe you need to take out the word 'free'.
Our asda 10 miles or so distance from each other. 4 pack beans £1 smaller asda and £1.30 larger asda?? Essentials range can also vary - anyone else noticed this? 🤔
Oooh that’s odd. It’s usually the other way around. I find like the local Tesco metro is more expensive than the superstore - that’s the nearest supermarket to me. X
why should you care about the colour of packaging your not going to eat it. people need to get out of there heads the stupid idea that it makes them look poor or that there buying substandard product. too many food companies are hiking up prices due to there name. paying 95p for a tin of soup is just not value for money

it's great for me as i am partially sighted and it helps me to spot it.

What does it matter..you don't eat the packaging,.
You are so right about dried herbs/spices, I always have a lot of different ones on hand. 💞
Definitely. I use them ‘thyme’ and again - sorry, couldn’t help myself 😂
Love the colour of your units and built in ovens x
Thanks. They're lovely x

Yes there was a lot out of stock - obviously more popular than they anticipated!
Respect to you my lady ! Excellent use of meal preparation and ingredients. 🎉❤ Good to see more people being sensible with their shopping .
Thank you so much 😊
Adding a Lidl cheap fruit and veg box would be good
Great ideas, thank you. We don’t have an Asda near us, but I’m going to try this at Tesco.
ah brilliant!

Something similar myself bulk cooking mince for several different dishes 🥰
@@TheBudgetMumUK I do but the is only me and my grown up son so if he doesn't want mince and I do ill just cook enough for me

Love making these videos but they are a lot of work and time 😅

Hi Emily! I created these myself and they’re on my Etsy store as either digital or physical. www.etsy.com/uk/shop/thebudgetmumuk
@The Budget Mum UK oh thank you! I will check your store out.
@The Budget Mum UK just ordered my physical copy! Can't wait to start meal planning more efficiently. Thank you
This is the way I cook every week plus homemade soups.
Fabulous! Love a home-made soup x
will you do some cooking videos please
Yes I have some more planned x

Oh fab. Thanks for sharing this. I agree - it’s not always the best quality and can be hit or miss, but sometimes just a few changes can help x
Read that all the "luxury"/branded food products are made in the exact same factories as the "budget"/unbranded food products
Like the planners
Thank you so much x
Hey potatoes have a ton of vitamin c, b vitamins, potassium, and magnesium. So they're basically a fruit! ;)
Haha yes! LOVE this and I LOVE potatoes 😅

Does anyone know what the essential sausages are like?
They are cheap for a reason. My brother worked in a sausage factory that supplied different supermarkets, he won't eat any sausages now.

Some good ideas here but not sure how my other half would feel about coming home to spaghetti hoops and toast after a 12hr shift 😂❤
Hey! Pop some grated cheddar on there and it’s honestly the BEST comfort dinner! 🤭

My kids like the steak fillets we don’t eat steak but kids love it.
Ah brill. I had it the other day. Was really quite good 😄
