Hey devin I was wondering if maybe sometime you could go over your full collection/ what you use to wash your cars? Favorite soaps and products and tools/scrubbers and etc! Would be greatly appreciated.
Man sometimes I find when absolutely everything is going wrong, walking away for like an hour man or even the day and coming back. We get so frustrated we make more mistakes. Real mechanic shit man and I find it cool that you show us this because most youtubers only bring us the growth
Your work ethic and dedication to having a perfect car makes me feel very lazy yet also motivates me! Still scratching my head trying to figure out how you will put that all back together and remember where every bolt goes! You must be a beast with legos and tetras! Keep up the great videos! Love seeing a older evo getting all that love!
Happy birthday my man. Love your content for the past years, I wish you keep growing and getting the recognition you deserve for your hard work and passion. You’re truly one of the best.
Happy belated birthday and thanks for the content! I just moved from Florida to Washington state and I hope to see your projects one day. You’re the man Devin and super humble keep up the great work
Using raptor liner for undercarriages, wheel wells, etc. does work, but the prep is pretty time consuming and tedious. You have to scuff everything real good (not to bare metal but enough to scuff the surface. Just like how you would before spraying a bumper in primer) but the main complaint I’ve had after doing customers wheel wells and undercarriages is the road noise seems to not diminish at all. I’ve used some of the 3m undercoating in a can (like $50-$60 for 4-5 cans) and that seems to do a decent job with road noise in wheel wells after bedlining them. Hope this helps. Tool I would suggest for scuffing is a nylon cup brush attached to a buffer for best scuffing and least time consuming. This is what I use for bedliners in the bed, and undercarriage. Clean and power wash after scuffing obviously
Happy Birthday Devin 🎂 , I have used chassis saver in the past on the under Neath of cars and frames and has always held up and plus u don't have to sand it all the way down to bare metal
the POR-15 is a phosphate coating that convert any surface rust into a hard phosphate coating and stops it from rusting again but if you use that then you can then use a bed liner over that to make sure its protected from rock chips and Happy Birthday as well.
I was actually planning on raptor lining underneath my wrx as I’m pretty much doing the same thing as you and powdercoating everything underneath. Not sure how it’ll hold up but I have it on my truck bed and love it plus it’s really easy to spray. Only complaint I’ve heard from people is it’s not gonna soak up as much road noise as a rubber undercoating
Rhino liner is great, just need to give a good degrease and spray. You can also tint it if you want to colour match, I think you will be happy with it and its ease of application. Tip, of you buy the applicator gun money well spent
I undercoated my car with raptor liner and it turned out awesome. No need to get it down to bare metal but you should definitely hit everything with a scotch brite. Also cover all of your stuff with plastic or make some sort of booth because that overspray gets on EVERYTHING and is hard to get off
hey devin. while youre at it can you add the rear rigid collar for experiment to see if it does make any difference in driving feel? i read online it can align the chassis and subframe too
The problem with raptor liner is that its nearly impossible to tell if it has been punctured and allowing moisture in between the sealant and the metal, which can create a bigger issue. This is why most winterizing undercoating's are made of lanolin or other oils because they can coat and seal the metal, without trapping excess moisture.
Have you thought of dry-ice blasting the underside? Safe for rubbers and plastics and cleans paint without damaging it or leaving any solvent residue or water. Downside is just the time and expense of the equipment and the CO2.
Dry ice blasting.. I would strongly recommend doing the entire undersude before coating. You've put so much into the car already, why skip out on proper prep underneath. Just a suggestion.
Raptor will be an interesting undercoating, I'm interested how a polyurethane will apply and work. I still plan to stick with cosmoline and fluid film type products on mine until I see easier and more effective for a DIY guy
Motionautotv has done raptor liner all the time on alot of cars only thing is its such a thick coating it has been said it doesn't allow the chassis to flex
Definitely look into getting new hubs... most vehicles they are fairly cheap sometimes you can get them as a kit with the bearing. I use these on customer cars all the time. Those hubs you have look pretty nasty in the video! Just a thought! Loving the content man! Keep it coming!
I heard the reason people don’t like raptor liner for under coating is because if a little bit tears water and dirt/grime builds up inside of it and can cause rust
