I will correct you on the Hawthorn point. We were 16th yes. But our young core coming though is going to be great in the future. Our midfield won stats for majority of our games, and as the likes of Newcombe, Day, Nash, Worpel, Ward develop ever further it will be exciting to see. Our forward line is lacking a key forward but 2 of our forwards finshed within the top 15 of the Coleman and if we get a key back to help Sicily we will rise up the ladder.
One thing you didn't take into account, whenever a team loses the grand final by a large margin, they consistently tend to do rather poorly in comparison the following year. This is why some people actually predicted the Swans to finish 8th. A huge loss in the grand final is going to impact the players mentally the following year. We could tell by your reviews after every Swans game. So if anything, I'm surprised you tipped the Swans to top the ladder this year.
A saints fan here mate, playing the giants in the first week of finals was dreadful from us, they made us play their way and you are wrong, they didn’t play awful, they were exceptional, the teams that they bet were bad, and they realistically should’ve eat Collingwood with the last quarter shocking calls and non calls, they have hung in their all finals games and have a window of a burst with constant goals and held on. Really exciting to watch for the seasons to come!!
What's interesting is West Coast, Fremantle, Hawthorn and North were the four teams playing prelims in 2015 (FRE vs HAW, WCE vs NOR) and now they occupy 4 of the bottom 5 spots on the ladder today.
Honestly some bloody amazing predictions considering some of the curveballs that came through, would say of hawthorn though they used to have decent names but really went through and culled their list super harshly to the point they are an extremely young side, outside of Sicily they don't really have any established talent (perhaps wingard) and are reliant on young guns to keep developing
Some pretty good predictions there Rob, you did no worse than a lot of journalists over here who get paid to write about footy. As a Melbourne supporter, you'd think that I'd have wished for Collingwood to get beaten in the grand final but I didn't. As you said, they were impossible to fault this year. Their coach is a class act, their captain is a class act... the Daicos boys, the evergreen Scott Pendlebury, Bobby Hill... I found it hard to hate them like I used to in the old days. Having said that, I hope that the Demons smash them like Paul Stanley's guitar next year.
We all know that Crows should have finished in 8th place instead of Sydney. Your coach conceded that But thanks to an incompetent goal umpire, an inadequate score review and a weak AFL who could only say “oops sorry, let’s move on” we were robbed of the opportunity to play finals. YES, ROBBED. It’s easy to dismiss it as a Sydney supporter, but how would you feel if it was the other way round? As a Crows supporter who witnessed it, I can’t let it go.
@@RobReacts1 half the Crows were celebrating the goal that Keayes just kicked, as well as most of the stadium. They were expecting the ball to go back to the centre bounce. They thought they had the game won. So did everyone else. I was there. Sydney had only scored 1 point in the previous quarter and a half. They couldn’t even score in the last minute when there was hardly any opposition. Yes it was only one incident but it was a mistake that had huge ramifications to the outcome of the game. That was acknowledged by the AFL as well as 99% of footy experts who were angry and had genuine sympathy for the Crows.
@@RobReacts1 that’s definitely debatable. We’ll agree to disagree. I need to get over it I know. Footy’s over so I can get a life for a few months. As you discovered, there’s lots more to do in Adelaide. Glad you and Charlie like my city. I live just a bit further down the coast from Glenelg and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Disagree with you strongly on that one Rob. Adelaide finished the stronger team, actually kicked a winning score which wasn't registered due to poor umpiring and were robbed of a finals appearance. Sydney got what they deserved in the elimination final. But it happens.
Fun season guys. Gulden wins bnf at Swans really like him as a player. James Jordon joins Swans from Dees as a free agent expect Grundy follow. Grundy is a top 6 ruck in my book so some good business.
correction about hawthorn: Yes, they are far removed from their prime, but the problem is quite the contrary: they have no names. They're blooding too many young guys, and a young list will fall away in some games. there's plenty of scope for the future for the Hawks, though.

You couldn't even credit Carlton's defence and where the Swans or the Demons took their shots from and the amount of rushed behinds the Blues caused from those shots
You’ve got Hawthorn all wrong. They are in the rebuilding phase with a lot of young players. That’s how the draft is deigned to work. Carlton had a lot of momentum at the end of the season. Did you actually watch them play? They certainly weren’t playing boring footy.
There is a nibble... and clearly with how swans played, most of our games were exciting as we normally threw away the last quarter to create close finishes.

yeah we were in that stage 2019 2020 but since then we have fully rebuilt we are the youngest team in 2023 watch out for next year
Hawthorn are we and truly into their rebuild phase. They'll be pretty solid in a few years.

Wrong about Hawthorn...a young and upcoming side. They got rid of all their old players at the start of this year.
Haha fantastic COLLINGWOOD 👍😊👏
Well done on picking Richmond's position. I like many others thought they would do better this season, but you got that one right. 👏
Yes I had a few comments at the start of the season with people thinking Richmond would do better
Go the Blues (and the Hawks)! 🤭 Better luck next year Rob! 👍😁
Since getting a prediction spot on is not that likely, I’m going to change the points system to emulate golf
1 “stroke” for each position you were off. Lower the score the better (just like golf)
18th - West Coast - 0 points
17th - North Melbourne - 0 points
16th - Hawthorn - 0 points
15th - GWS - 8 points
14th - Essendon - 3 points

Always hard to predict the sides that would finish within the top 8.
But those outside the 8 you can predict at least 5 of them out of the 10.
