  • I recently bought the Daiwa Presso Spinning Pack Rod (PSO564ULFS-TR) to use as my new travel rod and I finally got a chance to test it out. Overall it seems like a great little travel rod to throw in the backpack, but it is on the stiffer side. That really isn't a problem for me considering how I'll be fishing it most often, but if you're looking for something that smaller fish will put a bend into, you might want to look elsewhere.

Love my 5’6 and 6’ 2-piece Pressos. Have caught a lot of fish on those. I had a 7’ travel version, and snapped the tip trying to free a Beetle Spin from a tree.😂 As you mentioned , the travel rods are much stiffer than the 2-piece rods. I just ordered a Daiwa Iprimi 5’6 and can’t wait to test it out. Nice first fish to break her in! Nice mixture of gills, bass, and Mayans.💪🐟

Yeah I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about these rods and the price is pretty good too. I filmed this back in May and had a chance to take this rod with me to Japan and South Korea over the summer where it got some heavy use and I loved it.

@@michaelvines805 Depends on the size and where you buy from, but right now on Amazon this one is $85. You can probably find them a bit cheaper on some other sites.

I'm happy with my 7 footer with the Ballistic MQ 1000. It's stiffer than I expected but not bad for saltwater. Just got back from 2 months in Panama with it. I lost my reel handle on day 3 LOL. Still waiting on a replacement.

Two months in Panama must've been nice. I spent five days there last Thanksgiving break. I did okay in the saltwater. Nothing great, but not awful either. I want to go back and fish some freshwater there.

@@TheFishingNomad I went to Bocas Del Toro for about 10 days then spent the rest in Boquete.

You should check out the Diawa triple B rods. They’re the best on the market in my opinion.

Just looked it up. I've never been a fan of telescopic rods, but then again I've never fished any higher end ones. My only experiences have been with some basic ones. Have you fished this one? How would you compare it to a "regular" one or two piece rod of a similar size and power?

@ let’s put it this way I have 6 of them. They are obviously a little heavier than a one piece rod but they fish like one as well. I’ve caught several bass over 6 pounds and one that was 9 pounds, so they definitely hold up well on bigger fish. Definitely worth the money and very compact.

@dannyb78 Good to know. Thanks. I might have to try one out.

I bought this rod and absolutely loved it. Then the tip broke........ Daiwa stated they could not replace the tip and that I would need to send them back the rod at my expense and then they would sell me a replacement at a "discounted price". Very disappointed as I now have a beautiful Daiwa Presso rod with a broken tip.

Bummer. I don't think a rod company has any responsibility to replace a broken rod, but at the very least they should offer you the opportunity to buy a replacement tip without having to jump through all these hoops. Hopefully I don't have to take them up on that.
