rest in peace Dr. Malidoma Some
I’m an African transwoman and I’ve always felt a connection with my ancestors. Which is why I don’t subscribe to Christianity or Islam like my relatives were trying to make me do. I get a lot of dreams and messages from the other side.
What is an African transwoman? Were you born with XX chromosomes, or XY chromosomes? It's not a trick question.
It beautiful to feel a fellow trans woman in this journey. Bless you sister.
@@carlwalker9635 Clearly you have more decolonizing work to do.
Waka pass. That transgender thing is not African. Please don't try to pollute the African mind.
There's nothing like trans whatever in Africa. We don't understand it, because it is not in our culture.
I may be a white guy but I believe that this is wisdom that we can all benefit from regardless of our race we all have ancestors I thank Dr. Some for sharing his wisdom I think I really needed this in my life.
If you reconnect with YOUR ancestors you’re gonna have a lot of apologizing to do
This is the power of our Spirit. Acknowledgement of this within oneself is so much easier then we have been taught it should be. Just ask and they are here for us. We are their beloved children and work now in our mutual spirits interest for the better of all. We do not have to look up to them, just know they wish to be with us to support us, like brothers and sisters. That is who they are, and what we are in truth. All One.
The value of this Indigenous Knowledge System can not be calculated by the values of this European Axiological framework. Ancestor Malidoma spoke of the power of silence. We must learn and be cleansed by divine silence and relationship with the Ancestors...

When I was a little girl, growing up in China, my grandmother host ceremonies to connect our ancestors every traditional holiday. I didn’t understand the reason then.
The ceremony goes as family cooked abundant meal together, we invite ancestors to come and enjoy the meal first, telling them what’s going on in our life and wish them helping us in life. Then we ate the meal.
@@miamo4566 Would you mind elaborating more on this ? As in is it the taoist way or chinese ancestral worship before taoism and buddhism ?
wow. Such clarity and knowledge. Thank you Dr Malidoma Some. May you rest well in the land of your ancestors.
I didn’t know this face when I clicked on the video, but then I heard joss name and just knew I knew it! I’ve read his book “the healing wisdom of Africa” and WOW, grateful for the opportunity to read the book x to now hear him speak 🙏🏾
Please share the date this was recorded. My family of friends visited him in October 2021, two months before his ascension. He gave me my Dagara name.
Well spoken
How is it that this was uploaded only this year but he passed away in 2021?
Thank you for my reading Elder Malidoma 💜 I feel so grateful to be touched by your work before you transitioned ❤
Rest in paradise, Dr. Some 🌿
Beautiful talk, his speech reminds me of captain Kirk from Star Trek! What a lovely expression of the culture and soul human origins glossed over by the west.
He mentioned quite a few truths. Thank you and him for the information.

I give thanks to my ancestor, elder Malidoma Somé, may your wisdom and spirit live through our consciousness in the evolution of community tomorrow 🌱
Grateful 🌺 Thank You 🌳
Blessings
Fascinating and I will be doing it
Thanks ❤
What if they left shameful legacy. depending upon on where they are in the spiritual realm ...Why would you try contact them to build a new legacy ?
Coaca bean my sentiments exactly!
You do not need to invoke the ancestors with shameful legacy. What normally happens is that you can acknowledge them when pouring libation. You need to travel to a village in Ghana or Nigeria to understand as it can be complicated for me to break it down.
He addressed that very same question beginning at 17:11
@@beverleytheglobalcaregiverforu Scroll to 17:11, he addressed the question from this point.
The thing he's getting at, that he describes at about the 17 minute point and beyond, is that once your spirit leaves the body and goes into the higher dimensions, suddenly those of us who did awful things while we were here on earth, and didn't have the capacity to see their awfulness while they were here, they see the awfulness of what they did. When we contact them, if they did indeed make it to the other dimensions (my understanding is that not everyone does right away) they are eager to give us the support we need to live lives that rectify their mistakes. They become a source of wisdom and love for us who are still here. The divine dimensions are a place of higher perspective and will show many things we don't see or understand here in our limited experience. It's exactly those "dead" people that we blame for our troubles, who have the insight and energy now to help us be better.
Feels inauthentic! African traditions /spirituality are multifaceted and numerous in their approach depending on the region.
Wow. Are you listening to your self?
