I am just getting into wood burning and absolutely love your videos!
Thanks Jami!! I really appreciate it. :) Congrats on getting started with burning.
Beautiful ❤
Hi how does the transfer get onto the wood? I'm very new to this and any tips would be grateful.thanks
Hey Leanne! I use a carbon paper under my template and then trace. If you look through my videos on my channel, i have a tutorial on how to the process works. Thanks!
Thank you for posting this video and explaining your process. It's great to know what the different tips do and see how they can be used. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I really enjoy watching you burn using the high temperatures. I know lighter temperatures are recommended and has more control. However your hot temperature burnings are some of my favorite.☺️👍
Thanks!
How was the image transferred to the wood? You traced over the print out and it came through the paper or what exactly is that process? Amazing work!
Put a sheet of carbon paper underneath the template, trace the image, then it will show up on the wood.
I have had a wood burning for a few years now, and have never used it... 🤦🏼♀️ I recently have gotten a lot of wood rounds and want to wood burn them! Been watching your video and you make it looks so easy!
Thanks Sam! :)
what kind of paint do you recomend? what did you use there?
Made it looks so easy but I'm sure it's not that simple but it has inspired me on to try out this new hobby
Thanks Alex!
What an awesome beginner project! Just bought myself the Razertip....I live in BC, Canada and that was what I was able to get locally. Looking forward to my journey, I may just have to grab that book. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks! You bet! Mandalas are one of my favorite things to burn. :)
Wow so cute and very talented well done
Love this. Would alcohol ink and/or acrylic work also?
Yes, they are just a bit harder in small spaces. Acrylic covers up burn, so you have to be careful with it. Alcohol ink markers work pretty good, but they bleed in the grains on some woods, so test it before you use it on a finished piece.
Thank you. 😊
Hi, your super talented. What type of burner and tips do you use? I'm really new to this. I'm also over in the UK. Any tips etc would be great. Thank you in advance.
Right now, I'm really into using my Razertip. I have a few comparison videos if you want to check those out.
Looks so beautiful. New
Do you use any specific type of stencil?
AMAZING!! Love everything about it, the color really adds a very cool dynamic to the piece. Thanks for sharing, God Bless!
Thanks Paul!
This looks amazing! I am brand new to this sorta thing and im struggling trying to remove any mistakes made when tracing with carbon paper, any tips?
Hey Sarah! Try using a sand eraser or a fine grit sand paper. Thanks for watching! amzn.to/3miDJfb
Why do you burn so dark on first pass? I have seen your portrait vid so I know you can burn lighter. And do you have to knock off some of the charring that occurs before finish. Just trying to learn here.
I like to burn dark, especially for these texture pieces. It’s not a requirement, but it’s my preference. I do use a brush to wipe off all the extra carbon bits before sealing it.
Thank you for the video. Your work is beautiful. I am looking to make some serving trays with a piece of teak wood from my local lowes. Can teak wood be burned?
Thanks Kristina! I've never burned teak personally, but this website has some information on the toxicity. There are a few species of teak, so you may want to check the specific species you got from lowes.

@@Pyrocrafters Thank you so much for the information!
You bet!
What kind of pen are you using to transfer design?
Just a pencil, with carbon paper underneath.
This is beautiful
Thanks Tracy!
Epiccc!
Thanks!! :)
I ordered a wood burning kit and of all the videos I have watched. I do not have your tips that you use to burn. What are they called?
Jann benson Hey Jann! I’m using the Colwood Super Pro II in this video. There’s a link in the description or you can go to their site at woodburning.com and find all the extra tips and accessories they have. There’s a good variety there. :)
I have the book. It's awesome! I love this art piece, beautiful!
Yay! Thanks Sophie! I appreciate it so much!
What is the star bond glue for?
what do you use to transfer? like the pencil and paper?
Lanie Lamb I used a carbon paper transfer in this video. :)
I have your book love your videos
Can you use any kind of paint? Does it have to be India ink?
It doesn't have to be ink. I've used acrylic and water color before. I prefer ink because it doesn't cover my burn area, but if you water down acrylic and water color it won't cover it up either. When I first started using color, I was using acrylic without adding water and it would cover up the burn, then I would have to reburn areas.
Pyrocrafters thank you. That helps a lot.
What pen are you using to trace the paper?
Hey Aleya! It's just a mechanical pencil. I prefer pencils over a metal stylus so I can see where I've traced. Plus metal on paper makes me cringe. :)
What papers are those regular printer and transfer?
Yes, it’s just regular ole copy paper and carbon paper. I get my carbon sheets in bulk on Amazon. A pack of 100 will last a long time. amzn.to/2YCUwiU
What finger protection do you use?
nathan3h57 Hey! I use the JATAI finger guards. I get them on Amazon. :)
what size tip do you use for the dotting pattern
Hey Linda, I'm using the small ball tip from colwood: woodburning.com/collections/replaceable-tips-rt/products/rt-ball-1-b1
Awesome & Ty!
You bet!
What ink do you use
I like Dr PH Martins
Also what paint/ink are you using please
For this one, I used watercolor pencils.
Could I get a link? please
Hey Hannah, I was mistaken, I used India Ink on this one. It's been so long, I forgot. There's a link in the description, but here it is again: India Inks: amzn.to/2K5oftl
This is the set of watercolor pencils I use; when I use them amzn.to/3UWIfBn
I usually trace with a red pen and then i can see that I completed the tracing without missing lines.
You skipped the most important part… how did the pencil end up on the wood
At 1:13, I taped the stencil to the wood, placed a sheet of carbon paper underneath and then traced the stencil. The carbon paper leaves the stencil on the wood.
@@Pyrocrafters carbon paper is the secret. I had read so many and watched so many and everyone seems to skip it .😂 I’m like soooo lost. Thank you.
Love it! Do you have a mailing address? Keep up the great work!
What kind of burning utensil do you use.?
Hey Barbara, I'm using a Colwood Super Pro II. There's a link in the description. Thanks for watching! :)
You never show how you transfer stencil to the wood , which to me makes whole thing useless , like saying here how do and here finish item ,not impressed
Thank you! Although, I do show you how I transfer them at 1:16 by taping my template, using carbon paper underneath and then tracing the stencil. Perhaps you missed that section. If that's not detailed and descriptive enough for you, I also have a detailed video separate from this where i show the whole process. ua-cam.com/video/b_yNSmBHto0/v-deo.html Cheers!
