Love Georgia love the Savannah area I used to rent a cabin at the KOA in Richmond Hill before my vanlife days Stone Mountain hold some great memories for my family I'm looking forward to being in Georgia in January
4:46 PM 6/14/23 Thanks for sharing. My wife and I, are going to visit our Grandson near Monroe later this summer. We are from Texas, but this is my second trip to Georgia. Pulling a 30 ft RV. Happy Trails!
We have a North Georgia mountain vacation home that is only 45 minutes from Helen. Whenever we have out of town guests we always take then to Helen. We love it up there.
Check out Blythe Island County park near Brunswick, Ga. There is hiking and close to Jekyll and St. Simon for day trips. The campsites are fairly well spaced out and quiet. Also full hookups which we like!
We love Georgia's State Parks too! I think we have been to 8 or 9 of them. Stephen C Foster in the Okefenokee Swamp is very cool - the boat ride there is worth it! We have stayed at Kolomoki twice and really enjoyed it as well. Crooked River was nice as was Fort McAlister. We are going to Florence & Providence next week.
We went on an AlliChuck adventure last month. Bradenton to skidaway to visit Savannah and tybee for a few days, then to Florence marina for a few days. Prov canyon was so cool, but we also went to Pine Mountain drive thru animal safari…that was a blast!! Then to St. Augustine. Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions. Going out mostly just weekends, I appreciate your videos for all the great things to do in Fl. Stay safe from Ian. Glad to see you headed north.
I’m very grateful. Thank you. I love Georgia and our State Parks! I’ve tried to watch Georgia Traveler, etc.,on GPBroadcasting; your filming and voiceover is right up there with the pros!
Amicolola Falls St Park is also a great place. It's the 3rd highest waterfall east of the Mississippi and the highest free falls east of the Mississippi (730 feet). Close to Helen (maybe 30 minutes) and even closer to Dahlonega, which has a really cool downtown square.
I am in the process of trying to renovate my property for RV camping. I have 19 acres, and my surrounding neighbors have hundreds, also very close to National Forest. The property had 6 RV hook ups, 4 of them worked, until a recent storm and lightning strike took them all out. I’m 6 miles from Amicalola. The site also has 1600 feet or more of stream frontage and I have miles of private hiking trails including up and down two smallish mountains.
Helen is just 30-40 minutes from out mountain home. Have you all been to Mercier in Blue Ridge? Another great place in GA at Christmas time is Dahlonega.
@@AlliChuckAdventures Mercier is an orchard and a HUGE gift shop with all kinds of stuff including awesome baked goods. We stop every trip to get some goodies. You won't be disappointed 🤩😃😀
Cloudland Canyon SP and Black Rock Mountain SP are two really nice parks. Black Rock Mountain is the highest elevation park in the state. I live just up the road from FDR SP and it is the largest (in acreage) in the park system, and has several good hiking trails. Haven't stayed in the campground but may try it soon, "just because".
@@AlliChuckAdventures I edited to fix a spelling error. FDR SP is north of Columbus on US 27. At the Callaway Gardens County store you veer up the mountain on GA 190 into the park. This follows the ridge line all the way to Manchester. Lots to see, several antique and curio shops in the town of Pine Mountain, and very close by is Roosevelt's Little White House, where he died on April 12, 1945. The town of Warm Springs is also interesting to walk around in and visit the shops.
Omg!!! This all sounds awesome. We LOVE history and things like Roosevelt’s little White House sounds just like something we would ant to check out. I’m gonna look into that right now!!! We will be coming back up there in October so maybe it would be something we could check out while there. 😊
Great video, but somewhat chagrined you failed to mention Vogel State Park -- a short and beautiful ride from Helen. Vogel, I believe, is the oldest Georgia State Park, and is regarded as one of the best, if not THE best, within the State. Been there, and its beauty is stunning. Happy camping!
Enjoyed your video, good review of these areas. Have you stayed at Unicoi State Park at Helen? Georgia native here, grew up camping at Unicoi back in the 1960s. It was all primitive camping back then, would like to go back in my camper van. ☮️❤️😎
Oh wow! Just seen this as it was in a spam folder for some reason. But we just got back from north Georgia. we will have to check that out next time for sure! Thank You
1 and 2 on our list is Cloudland Canyon state park on lookout mountain just south of Chattanooga, and Tallulah gorge state park just south of Clayton, Ga. Try them out and they will be on the top of your list as well!
@@AlliChuckAdventures since you love Helen so much (as we do) Unicoi state park is just a few miles north if there. It's a nice park. Campgrounds are very hilly.
We liked your video on Koreshen state park. We live 2 miles from there. Most of our summer weekends are up at one of the Florida state parks with springs.
Wow I wasn't expecting those Indian mounds right at the beginning 😳 so cool! Thanks for all the tips guys. We are new to your channel but we will definitely be back to check out more adventures 👍
I from ga and if you ck u tube you will find that The Little Grand Canyon was created by runoff from a corner of the barn . But both the stories work either way man created it !
Happy October anniversary! Ours is the 13th and for the past 20 yrs or so, GA is our 'go to' spot to celebrate. Have visited all that you reviewed in this video. We live in FL but, GA is our preferred state to camp in :-) A few of our faves if you've not been are, GA Veterans Memorial SP, Don Carter SP, H. Sloppy Floyd SP, and top of list, Vogel SP. BUT we've rarely NOT enjoyed a GA SP :-) Happy and safe travels to you!
Thats awesome! Happy early anniversary!!! 😀 We keep hearing about Vogel, so I think we should make that our next Georgia trip for sure!!! Alli is from Georgia and that Stone Mountain area. Have you been camping there? We LOVE it! Thanks and safe travels to y'all as well!
We live in SC and love watching your videos on your travels. We recently took our camper to Texas! Our longest road trip yet. Thanks for your informative videos!! 😎😎😎
SC to Texas is a long trip for sure! We went to the Grand Canyon last Christmas and those were long days driving! But we loved it! Might go back into Texas and maybe New Mexico this coming Christmas. Still deciding lol!
Great video! I've stayed at all of those places and they are probably my top 5 also. Unfortunately, Georgia State Parks ruined Unicoi State park by privatization.
@@AlliChuckAdventures it is a state park, but it is one of I think 3 that have been privatized. Stone Mountain is another. When the private company took over, the camping rates went from $30 to $55 per night over the last several years.
We love your overview of Georgia and must see places! We haven't spent too much time in Georgia, only drove through it. This is definitely a place we just added onto our list! Your videos really stick out nicely! Love you voice overs, such a great way to keep people engaged and spice up the content! Keep it up you guys!! We are binging your videos as we speak 😁
I graduated from Redan High School in Stone Mountain. my favorite place to camp in Georgia is Vogel State Park that is up by Blairsville I also live in Florida Cocoa beach area.
Alli graduated from South Gwinette! Vogel state park has been suggested a couple times now....we have to check that out. We are heading to Don Carter this coming week. Have you been to that one? On Lake Lanier.
@@AlliChuckAdventures I have not been to Lake Lanier but the rest of my family used to go there my sister told me about the place. When I was in high school I used to have a favorite place to go to at Stone Mountain Park down by the water It was always a good place to destress I would go there by myself and just relax. We always had year-round passes to get into Stone Mountain Park and watching the fireworks there was great they would shoot them off from the top of the mountain.
FWIW, we weren't impressed with Florence Marina State Park. Unless you have a boat, there really isn't much to do as far as hiking trails, etc. They don't even allow fishing from the bank, except for one designated fishing pier, which was so busy that we never got a chance to fish. Also, the bathrooms were nasty when we were there. We were shocked, because that's the only bad experience we've EVER had at a Georgia State Park. It's okay for a place to get some sleep while visiting Providence Canyon (which is amazing), but Florence Marina isn't a place we'd visit again. ... On the other hand, do visit Magnolia Springs State Park, if you haven't already. It's small, but the spring is incredible! General Coffee State Park is amazing, too, especially if you hike the boardwalks.
@@AlliChuckAdventures - Magnolia Springs is about 150 miles (guessing) east of Macon, not too far from the GA/SC border. Go on a sunny day for best viewing of the spring. ;-) General Coffee State Park is further south, near Douglas, GA.
Technically I just had my hair pulled back. I have long hair as I play Nikki Sixx in a Motley tribute band. But Alli does love a good mullet too lmao. 🤣
Hi, great compilation. We too enjoy camping all over GA. What is it that drew you away to FL? Don’t get me wrong we love Florida but GA is usually our “local escape” when we only have a week or so to get away.
How you too I want to find a place near Athens that I can long-term parking my RV I don't know I've never done rving but I want to buy one I'm picking one out but I can't do that until I find a place I'm going to get to park it if I buy the RV Out full then whatever rent it cost to park at some place would be my cost for living is what I'm guessing plus utilities I don't know how it works thank you for your show if you have any advice or recommendations or places I'd certainly appreciate it
So you plan on buying the Rv and parking full time somewhere? I’m not sure how that works exactly but I think a lot of parks rent by the month for sure. Not sure about near Athens but we love that area. Alli went to college there!
No not at all. I’d say Florida first Georgia second. But we travel as much as we can right now. Went to the Grand Canyon and sedona etc last Christmas. 5,000 miles pulling the trailer!!!
My dad drove a truck for about 30 years too! Luckily never had a issue. He drove for a van lines and did have couple issues where he had to lock the trailer every time he took a load of furniture in which was a real pain in the butt LOL
