  • Alexey Rybnikov is one of the best composers of the Soviet Union, who wrote a bunch of tracks for films and melodies that many people still like.
AN1X is a unique Yamaha VA synthesizer from 1997, which can synthesize many and even good pianos. I recorded an example of the sound of piano from the AN1X synthesizer in this video.

Hi JS ... I watch your videos and love my An1X more and more... I don't know as much about it as you do but I appreciate just how great a synth it is... unlike you though, I'm not that anti-Yamaha... they might not be the best but I think they're reliable and worth looking at ... i just picked up a mint condition Motif XF and it's pretty good... probably not in the same league as a Montage/M but I don't have that sort of money ..... the Motif XF is good enough for me and joins my other Yamaha synths (An1X, Motif ES and P-35 piano)... one day, I'll do all those An1X modifications you've posted on your YT channel ... really I will!!!!! I promise 🙂 ... thanks for another great video.

Thanks my friend for your comment. AN1X pianos sound like they were from the 90s, these pianos have their own charm. I understand that a real piano sounds good, but sometimes there is a place for old pianos in tracks. It’s the same as with Jean Michel Jarre, his old tracks sound unique in their own way, many people love them precisely for the old character of the sound, I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the new tracks of the same musician. Brass Sounds like in Europe Final Countdown in AN1X is also excellent. If you like the music of bygone days, then even if the AN1X was not sounded in those tracks, it may be suitable for all compositions before the year 2000. It has a strings like Hans Zimmer's and a bunch of special sounds that can't be found in any of the later synthesizers. If I had a lot of time, I would record a bunch of cover songs featuring AN1x. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I only occasionally have time to add content to my channel and do not do it as often as I would like. 🙂

On the An1x there is an adjustment of the keyboard pitch up and down. This button is located to the right of the display (vertical buttons up and down)

I did not expect this. Is it realized with sync & FM? Did you layer two slightly different sounds?

Yes, to make a more realistic piano on the AN1X synthesizer, you need to tinker and spend more time with the correct settings of the FM, filter, oscillators, waveform and other other options, including effects, and they affect how the final version will sound . In addition, the final final sound also depends on what have the Line-Output of the AN1X, if inside are old Yamaha chips or high-end chips of our days (I’m talking about the modification!) the result may vary. Otherwise, waiting for the piano, you might end up with chopped cabbage.
