Yeah buddy congratulations you got this song. Not sure if there’s going to be an episode tomorrow or not if not be sure to tune in Tuesday for the episode that you guys are going to vote on =)
I was a big Chevrolet fan back in the 1960's. but my brother-in-law came a cross a black with red interior 1961 Ford 2 door sedan with a 292 V-8 and an auto trans, I don't remember if it was a Ford-o-matic or a Cruise-o-matic.My best friend and I cleaned it up inside and out and gave it a fresh coat of wax. We installed some decent used tires and a full set of wheel covers. We also tuned her up, changed oil and filter and just gave the car a good going over. Even though I was not a Ford fan back then I told my brother-in-law if he ever decided to get rid of the Ford, I'd like to buy it from him. A couple of weeks later he was driving a Studebaker staion wagon and I asked him where the Ford was. He told me he traded for the Studebaker. I wanted that 1961 Ford bad. I can't help to think if I would have gotten the Ford it might of changed me from a Chevy fan to a Ford fan. I think the 1961 Ford was some of the best styling Ford ever had. I would still love to own one.
Great story thank you so much for sharing that memory with us it sucks that your brother went behind your back and sold I mean traded the Ford for a Studebaker wagon, you should’ve done the right thing and asked if you were still interested before trading it
Hey Jay, whenever I see a Ford Galaxie from the sixties I can't help but think of the Andy Griffith Show. Mayberry's sheriff's squad car was always the latest model Galaxie!!! Thanks for sharing another exciting video!!! 👍👍🙂

My dad bought a 1961 Ford Galaxie 500 four door sedan in Corinthian White brand new. That was the car I learned how to drive and has a special spot in my heart.
Wow great story thank So much for sharing that amazing memories with us was it a stick shift or an automatic for the medic or cruiser Matic what did you like the most what did you like the least =)
@@What.its.like.The car had 3-on the tree transmission. What I like the best is that it would squeal the tires. The least liked feature was it didn't have power steering.
My dad had a 1961 Galaxie Sunliner (convertible). It was the same shade of red as this car, white convertible top and white interior. It was stunning, he was so proud of that car. 292 V8 and two-speed automatic. Overall it was a great car. Good performance, reasonable mileage for the day and very reliable. Thanks Jay for the memories!
1961 Galaxie was my first car I bought in 1971 at age 16 for $120. The 390 ran great but smoked a little and the body was red with a white top. A few years later I owned a 1962 Fair lane Sports Coupe with low mileage, 260, bucket seats and copper body color and white top. Best Fords I've ever owned.
Awesome story thank you so much for sharing those memories =) crazy that small v8 was better in lots of ways.. what’s even more impressive is a small V8moved such a big car
Sorry that I’m a little late on my comment. Some more history on the Galaxie. First introduced in 1959, it actually outsold the ‘59 Impala, in itself a radical design. The public just wasn’t ready for that particular jet age styling. But the 1959 Impala bubble-back, a first for Chevy, was breathtaking in my opinion. When Ford introduced its new styling in 1960, once again, it was a clear departure from its best selling ‘59. It wasn’t a home run with the public and didn’t sell well. And keeping with the competition between both marques, the Starliner was created in 1960 in response to Chevy’s ‘59 bubble-back. I believe the changes to the ‘60 Impala put Ford second to Chevy in sales. Probably one reason that Ford limited its Starliner to just a two year run. My dad had a ‘61 Starliner, the car I learned to drive on, and I fell in love with it at first sight. Despite my buying a 1960 Sunliner (which by the way I believe was the longest Ford in length produced), I yearned for that Starliner. Years later, I came across ‘60 Starliner. Wish I could send you a picture. You’d love it. I also think if Ford had started it’s design with the ‘60 front and the ‘61 rear, the Starliner would have sold much better and perhaps lived for a few more years competing with Chevy, who dispensed with the bubble-back after 1962. That huge “greenhouse” rear window created a hotbox that the public couldn’t bear anymore. Nevertheless, it’s a unique style that I will always love…. not only Ford’s version, but GM’s version, especially Pontiac.

Lol i bought a 1961 galaxies sun liner 223 two speed automatic convertible , boy i had a lot of fun with that car ❤ kinda wish it would have a 3 speed automatic or a 3 or 4 speed standard , don’t get me wrong , that 223 in line 6 was quite torquey . It just like 2 speed auto on this Galaxies was Well you know, how ever , i wish i still had it today , well I have great memories And PHOTOS on my walls ! It’s a win for me ! Lol great job Jay ! What a f--treat ! That brings me back to 1983 lol 😊thanks man , you made my day !!!
Awesome thank you so much for sharing your car with us, it sounds really cool what color was it? Whats your favorite story/memory. Glad this video was able to take you back =)
YOU KEEP BRINGING CARS I OWN I HAD A 1962 FAIRLANE GALAXIE IT WAS A NICE CAR I PAID $250.00 FOR IT. I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS AND I'LL PASS IT ON TO MY FRIENDS.
Thank you for pointing that out I leave some stuff out on purpose going to come back to it when we cover the star liner (so it’s not like watching a rerun)
I had a 1962 galaxie 2 door hardtop with a 390 engine back in the early 70s when I was in high school. I loved that old car. You could do some awesome one wheel burnouts with it. I sold that car for 200 dollars. Good memories.
First off, I like the looks of the 60 Galaxie over the 61. The 61 looks like it's been in styling rehab. Now your senarios - First, I absolutely love the styling and look of the 61 Impala, plus late in that model year the first Super Sport 409 could be had. The second senario... The Hornet wins in my mind. Heck, they used those in the early Nascar years with great success. Great video, and glad you survived the back seat!
It was bad I could not get it to go down. I was starting to get into like a panic because my leg was locked up in the back of the car. And wasn’t sure how I was getting out Great choices, one vote for Hudson hornet 🐝
I loved the 1960-1961 Starliners unfortunately Ford only made them two years. The two door post, and two door hardtops were nice too. 1961 was the first year for the 390, but it looks like that one has a 292 Y block in it.
You forgot the 390 Thunderbird Special with the 3 dueces carburation which was good foe 401 horse power and the 340 horse power Police Interceptor. My mom almost bought a black Starliner in 74 or 75 after her 63 Fairlane got sold.. both were great cars. Galaxie 1st, Plymouth Fury second and impala dead last. 2nd, 38 Hudson 1st, Hudson Jet second and the Hornet a close 3rd. Love these old Hudson's too.
I didn't forget I just didn't get that deep into it. LoL My dad loved the FE engines with a passion! He went to work for Ford in 1962, joined the army in 1964, bought a 1967 Camero with his reenlistment money in 1967, got out of the army in 1970 and went back to work for Ford! Figure that one out! ROFLMAO!
I was so worried you were going to ding the Thunderbird when you opened the door! Ha! To the scenarios: 1. Though I love the Galaxie, for ‘61 (and only for ‘61) I would go for the Chevy. That was a great year for Chevy. 2. Show us the Jet!!!! Cheers!!!
The Pierce arrow was way closer than this car was I’m really careful I do not hit the cars most of the time I put my hand in between the door so hand gets hit first i’m super careful One vote for Hudson jet
The larger 1954 Hudson would be an interesting car to feature. I used to get rides to elementary school in a neighbor's then almost new '61 Ford, which had the 292 V-8 & Fordomatic (similar to this one). This was a much smoother, quieter car than our '55 Ford had been. Same summer overheating problem, however, until my Dad told them about putting in the optional higher capacity thermostat which would cure the problem.
I'd suggest reviewing the 1938 Hudson next, and I have always liked the sculpting of the 1960 Ford over the 61, and I wish they had just improved the build quality over the years for the 1960 instead of introducing new models. It was the widest car in history as it was 81.5 inches wide. All of your future reviews look like they are going to be great.
I’m sitting on I wouldn’t see a mountain of contact but there’s a lot of good ones coming it’s getting hard to pick which ones I wanna do next and spread the Hudsons out more. My favorite cars to do are the cars that are off the beaten path the cars that never got the light of day the cars that are getting forgotten those are my favorite ones to do. I’m not against Camaros Firebirds or mustangs those are cool too but there’s some shows that I go to that that’s all that are there or Chevy Belair‘s and Corvettes and Mustangs One vote for 1935 super eight I said the wrong year in video
I think that I like the steering wheel a lot better on the '61 offering. I hate it when car manufacturers use those idiot lights on the cars instrumentation panel because once that light illuminates, the damage to the engine has already commenced. This car is very good looking. I have noticed maybe not on this car, but others particularly on the side panels, they have very subtle orange peel surfaces. I think the '61 ford is better looking and more refined than the 1960 Galaxie. As usual, a great presentation Jay!
I would take the 61 Ford. I like the styling better on the 60 but I drove them both in Drivers Ed in high school and the 61 handled better. Also the 61's fins made it super easy to parallel park. I could park perfect every time. Even the instructor couldn't do that. He finally asked me what my secret was. I told him I watched for the tip of the fin on the passenger side to hit a certain point on the building that we were parking next to. At that point turn the wheel to back into the space. When it hit a second point I straighten the wheel and that was it. Only class I could do better than the teacher.
One vote for 1935 super eight and said it the wrong date. =) I tried making name that tune a little bit harder but somebody already got it it was kiss Detroit rock city
I like the 61 Galaxie better than the 60. Since I am a Ford person, I would rather have the Galaxie over the others. I will say that I think the 61 Chevrolet Impala was the best-looking Chevy of the decade. The Galaxie had a complete makeover every year. My favorite years were 62, 63, and 68. I learned to drive on a 68, it was what the high school had that year. My dad owned a 63. You are mistaken on the years of the model. You stated that the Galaxie ran from 54 to 74. However, the first year of the Galaxie was 1959. It was the top of the Fairlane through 61. In 62 it was the full-size model line for Ford. In 62, the Fairlane became the mid-size model line for Ford. That left Falcon as the compact car line. Odd thing though is that Fairlane and Falcon were very close in size and some years, I think the same size, until 68 when Fairlane got much larger and was a true mid-size between the Galaxie and Falcon. That only lasted three years for Fairlane. The Torino was introduced in 68 as the top of the Fairlane line, and the Fairlane name was discontinued after the 1970 model year. Galaxie has a similar fate as the LTD became the top of the Galaxie line, only for the Galaxie name to disappear in 1974 and the Full size line continued as LTD until the Crown Victoria that was the top of the LTD line took over as the model line name.
The 60 and the Edsel sister 60 wree completely one-offs for Ford. Ford was always about round tail lights, except in 58. Only in 65 did they start with the rectangular ones. Our family had the 62 as a Country Sedan i.e. no wood fake trim, like the Country Squire.
I laugh when I see this car for it reminds me of a scene from the 1963 Son of Flubber movie where a Mercury station wagon is chased by a flying Model T. The wagon tips and fishtails in absolutely absurd gyrations while being driven by a man in a frogman suit. One of my dad’s best company cars was a 1974 Ford Galaxy, which in its faded blue paint job looked exactly like a typical state patrol car, alarming fellow drivers on the road. I think that his earlier company cars were mostly Ford Falcons.
Our family had a 62 Ford. Not a Galaxy though. Some models had an accessary daytime light in the center of the grill. For WYR, 61 Fury, just because style is style. For Tuesday I am choosing the 54 Hudson Hornet because it's rounded. 😂 Hate those "Charlie horses" glad you survived.
Yeah I get the charley horse a lot that one wasn’t so bad I’ve had worse.. swimming is when it like to happen that always sucks. What’s 62 Ford did your family have Great choice one vote for Hudson hornet
I am not sure of the 62 model name. Am assuming lesser than galaxy. I was 8 and hadn't developed any particular interest in cars yet. It was a full size sedan though. There were 7 of us.
What a beautiful car, I loved that 3 photo design ad you showed Jay, truly a car Ford and owners were proud of. As to the surveys, 1961 Galaxie and the 1954 Hudson Jet, as that was the car which destroyed Hudson's finances thanks to interference from managing director A.E Barit. No doubt, well intentioned, but had the Nash merger/takeover not happened, they probably would have gone bankrupt.
No contest again, I would rather have the '61 Chevy Impala. The Ford Galaxy is nice but the GTO it's sitting next to is BAD ASS !! I hope you review that car in the future. As far as next week, I vote for the 1938 Hudson.
sweet one vote for 35 Hudson =) I didn’t do that 66 GTO I think I’m gonna save that for summertime I did a 67 GTO ua-cam.com/video/BjX_z7Z5kBg/v-deo.html
The 1938 Hudson. The cars of the 30s were fancy. The 1936 Pierce Arrow you filmed the other day was a very nice car. Too bad Pierce Arrow isn't around anymore. Same for Hudson.
My favorite era of cars always was the 50s but I can’t say that anymore I don’t know what I like better fins or fenders I really like the 30s, so much innovation =) It’s a 35 Hudson super I said the wrong year I have a knack for saying the wrong year for some reason One vote for 1935 Hudson super
I was in middle school when the 1960 ford came out with the “gun sight” front fender trim. The bad boys would jump on the hoods and kick the gunsights off. Don’t ask me how I know.
My dad had a Two tone Blue '62 Galaxie 2 door 500 with a 390 & triple deuce carb pushing a Ford-O-matic. I remember the back seat was like a living room when we went grocery shopping on Saturdays. As for my would I rather? I'll go with the 1961 Impala for the last year of classy styling & 1st year of sporty stance & hopefully with the 283/4spd manual. ;-) Also the 38 Hudson 8
Great choices still haven’t featured the Hudson super eight yet they’ll be coming up in the future Thank you so much for sharing your 62 galaxy two-door with us what did you like the most about it what did you like the least about it?
@@What.its.like. I was only a little kid when my dad owned it but it had quite a spacious interior as I recall & I remember my dad being pleased with it's (get up & go) but it was thirsty & it was about the time of the first "fuel crisis" 1973 when gas doubled overnight from 26 9/10 a gallon to 49.9/10 a gallon, that he traded it in on a new 1974 F150
I would prefer the 1960 Galaxie to the 1961 model because my father owned a Canadian version Meteor which was just like the full size Fords. My mother liked the 1960 Meteor because there was enough room to place a bag of groceries on the side fin before opening the trunk. As for comparing the 61 Galaxie to same year Impala and Fury, I would choose Impala. By the way you showed photo of a 1960 Plymouth. Although my video preferance comes late, go with the 1954 Hudson Hornet.
@@What.its.like. “Interesting” is the perfect word for that Fury. The early 60s is easily my least favorite era of car styling. There are a few exceptions (‘63 Buick Riviera - which is a knockout). But overall things were either ugly, plain, boxy or any combination of the three.
For WYR 1: I like all 3, and each one has a very different "personality." The Impala is striking, but I feel like the more I look at it, the less I like it. The Galaxie is more elegant, and I don't think I would ever tire of the styling, so I would choose it over the Impala. (Also I think you used a picture of a 1960 Fury, 61 had no fins!) WYR 2: My vote is for the Jet.
100% agree they were way more fun to drive because everything is analog. Shifting gears, I honestly love a good cable clutch as opposed to a hydraulic clutch because with a cable clutch you can feel everything that’s going on. Another thing that I really love is the transmissions that whine. Especially in third gear as it’s singing it almost sounds like a super charger and then when you put it in the fourth gear becomes direct drive.
@@What.its.like. :The 3 speed Cruiseomatic transmission is my choice here. On the 352 cubic inch V8 I'd add Dual exhausts for even more performance and a higher numerically final drive ratio option.
I pick t6 '61 Ford, I think the styling is beautiful and underrated. I would like to see the Hudson Jet, you don't hear nearly as much about them as the Hornet.
Awesome one vote for Hudson jet the only downer is I wasn’t able to get in the car so there won’t be a glove box test or anything like that I was able to do everything that I generally do with the hornet
I remember when the ‘60 debuted in 1959. My impression was that it was butt ugly. The ‘59 Galaxy was by far a superior car in appearance. The ‘61 was the beginning of much better looking cars coming from Ford.
@@What.its.like. I thought so at first as well. So with it being a 1960 I would switch to Chevrolet or Ford for 1961. Guess Chevrolet. After checking, the '61 Plymouth is too much.
I'd take the 1961 Impala over the Ford or Plymouth. BTW, you displayed a 1960 Plymouth, not a 1961. I'd choose the Hudson Hornet over your other choices. Regarding the 1960 vs 1961 standard size Ford. I like the outside styling of the 1960 better. But I prefer the interior on the 1961 over the 1960, especially the design of the steering wheel. The 1961 full-size Fords were over an inch and a half narrower than the 1960s because the 1960s were 81.5” wide, exceeding most state's width requirements for passenger cars. Trunk access was vastly improved for 1961 with a significantly wider trunk lid. All full-size Ford wagons had a rear window that rolled down into the tail gate. The "wagonmaster" played catchup on that detail. Ford began stressing quality and longer service intervals with the 1961 full-size Fords. By 1963 and 1964, full-size Fords were high quality, anvil tough automobiles. Solid and quiet and very well built.
I do like the sleek and smooth styling of this model, and particularly the rear styling. I do think the '60 had a lot more interesting things going on though. I would choose the Galaxie, even as shown, although I'm not a big fan of the color on this one, I'd much prefer some shade of blue or green and a convertible. In the second scenario, I like the Hudson Hornet, but I think the '38 looks really cool as well!
The bubble top Chevy is my choice. 54 Hornet for sure. I've always liked the looks of the 60 Ford better than the 61. The 61 seems more pedestrian as far as styling goes but I love those taillights on the 61 though.
The 61 Plymouth Fury looks like a dinosaur compared to the other 2, to be fair, by midyear the fins had gone...but had a far more interesting interior with that steering wheel, swivel out seats and that extending dash mounted mirror ...all VERY George Jetson.
Apparently that was a 60 Plymouth fury google gave me the wrong picture.. I gotta watch that because I’ve been mixing up years as of lately I want to review one of those so bad
Hi Jay 1961 Chevrolet Impala two door post. The only year it was ever offered. Only recall ever seeing one…a few decades ago. Happy to see any of the Hudson’s. Did you receive my email with pictures of the 1930 Franklin brochure?
I’ll have to check my email I’m really bad at checking email it’s like a last resort so much like sending a telegraph in my opinion lol i’m working on the Franklin episode now if I get it done it’s going to go up Monday if I don’t get it done it’s going to go up Wednesday the weather supposed to be really nice here middle of the week.. but that’s almost too much information lol I will definitely look for it
In the Seventies I was into the original Minis, not your modern Metros. You could have parked one on the bonnet (hood), one on the roof and one on the boot (trunk).
@@What.its.like. I won't even have it started by then, unless you're going to release your video in 2076. However, you could wish me luck on my build in the next video.
I'd take the 61 Galaxie, but not the 2dr sedan. Everyone love$$ the Starliner, but I actually like the 4dr sedan and 4dr hardtop better with the T-bird roofline. That said, the front end of this is the weakest part of the design, it's just 'mushy'. This generation really came together for 63, and by 64 Ford had build quality down pat. So, all this praise, yet the Fury was a better driving car than either. Mopars never rode as well as GM/Ford, but they handled better, consistently. (Interesting to read below that people now like the 60: for years it was considered a particularly bad design (and poor response / rendition of Chevy 59, though I rather like it: though the find treatment ridiculously restricted trunk access that year).
I would prefer the 1961 Galaxie to the Impala or the Fury. The reason being my Aunt and Uncle drove a '61 Fairlane when I was a young 'un. And my Mother drove the '62 Galaxie 500 which looked a lot like the '61. These cars were very solidly-built. Nothing flimsy. Besides, I always hated the styling of the '61 Plymouth. As well as that year's Dodge. And I've never quite made up my mind about the Impala... sometimes I like the '61s, sometimes I don't. And I'll go with the 1935 Hudson 8.
The 1960 was so unique and modern for Ford, and then they went vanilla bland for 61, and then wondered why the Impala whooped their butt the next few years...
Awesome thank you for that correction i’m gonna see if I can fix it in the video What did you think about your Hudson hornet 🐝? Good car bad car what did you like what did you dislike One vote for Hudson hornet
I read it fast its possible that I read the wrong thing what happens when you’re dyslexic, it’s one hell of a thing to live with things can say one thing and if you look at it long enough it says something totally different...
Ford corrected a lot of it's styling mistakes in 1961 with Ford's ugliest car of all time the 1960 full-size Ford. It's odd that Ford had paired the Ford-O-Matic with the 292 V8. I guess that Ford had to get rid of the last V8-spec. Ford-O-Matics since it had discontinued Edsel with the 1960 model year. You almost never see a 2-speed automatic in a full-size Ford. I've seen only Cruise-O-Matics in V8-powered 1960 & 1961 full-size Fords. Perhaps Ford wanted to attract Chevy buyers? I'd love to see the 1954 Hudson Hornet. I saw one of these at a local car show a few years ago. It had the big "Twin-H" powered six with Hydramatic. I'd probably pick the 1961 Plymouth. It had a huge power potential and people really like traditional car fins.
Awesome information thank you so much for taking the time to share all of that. Great choices that was a 60 Plymouth I put wrong year One vote Hudson hornet
While I hate Fords I have got to admit the the ‘60 had a better front end but I prefer the ‘61 rear with round thrusters. Impalas are my thing and the Hudson Hornet evoked memories of a comic strip about stunt men driving displays. Don’t you think the Super 8’s grill reminds you of a much later 70’s Mercedes?
I think the Studebaker lark resembles a Mercedes grill, Hupmoblie 1934 has cedes vibes.. or maybe the Mercedes looks like Hupmoblie because hupp did that grill before Mercedes.. Love Hudson’s
I don't know why but I'm a bit partial to the '60 Ford but in a convertible. Perhaps blue or white. Ford or GM but no Chrysler. Just not into them. The '38 Hudson looks interesting.
@@What.its.like. Plus I always found the styling of the '61 kinda quirky. The front end was carried over in '62 while the rear made a come back in '63.
I’ve been looking for one since last year there was one at the museum but I ran out of time only had an hour there and I shot five or six cars I don’t remember which went over my our time allotted we talked a lot in between filming. I wanna go back there’s also so many places that I wanna check out as well
*Back when Ford made good, quality cars, and gave you plenty of choices including many that were actually affordable to the masses UNLIKE the company of today, which is a disgrace!*
I wish that I would’ve lived back then there isn’t a Ford product that I would buy aside from the Mustang and even that I don’t like the new Mustang I like the Shelby GT 350 was the last good looking Mustang.. I like the 2015 mustang as well or the 2016 I’m just not into the design they are putting out now
@@What.its.like. Thanks for the reply! I'd say any car made in the past twenty years is designed to fall apart, and be unrepairable at a reasonable cost. All mfrs are the same today. Almost like TPTB told them all to fall into line.
I much prefer the '60 to the '61 Fords, but really enjoyed your comparison.. Interesting how the front grill pattern is repeated on the back. It looks like Mercedes poached that look a few years ago. Give me the Impala, and I am anxiously awaiting the Hudson Jet video.
The comparison part is one of my favorite parts of these episodes it’s really cool to see where they go from where they came from. One vote for Hudson jet =)
Uhmmmm, that's NOT a '61 Fury, it's a '60. A '61 Fury would be the ONLY car I would opt for over a Ford product. My mom had one and I loved that beast!!! '61 had the flashlight tail lights, no tail fins and scowling eyebrows over the head lights.
@@What.its.like. it happens... i sent my grandson a pic of what was supposed to be the likeness of my '76 Grand Marquis, and instead... it was... shudder... a '76 Caprice Classic... LOL

I wanted that 1961 Ford bad. I can't help to think if I would have gotten the Ford it might of changed me from a Chevy fan to a Ford fan. I think the 1961 Ford was some of the best styling Ford ever had. I would still love to own one.

Actually Andy's squad car was always a full-size Ford but not always a Galaxie. For example, his 1960 was a Fairlane. His 1964 was a Custom 300.

Their was no Galxaxie 500 in 61 as the 500 did not come out until 62 along with the Galaxie 500 XL..
Thank you so much for sharing your memories and experience with the car =)
In the 60s and early seventies you could get after market fm radio. This was when fm radio was beginning to be available.
The 61 Starliner is absolutely my favorite! The Chevy and the Plymouth can’t compare…❤
I had a 61 Sunliner rag top after high school. White top over light blue. I practically lived in in for years.
Thanks.
Your car sounds awesome whatever happened to it?
I love the door handles on the '61 Galaxie. The handles built into the chrome trim are unique to the '61.
Awesome story thank you so much for taking the time and sharing those memories with us

It was a convertible too !
That’s awesome thank you so much =)
'61 Galaxie SrarlinerXL 390 FE with FM trans, yellow with fact AC...great car, and it got a lot better than 10.3 MPG. One of my fave Fords I've had.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your galaxie. =)
Didn't mention the Starliner bubble top, the best of all.
Thank you for pointing that out I leave some stuff out on purpose going to come back to it when we cover the star liner (so it’s not like watching a rerun)
Man once the details are shown,This Car is Gorgeous!!
Glad you dig this episode, I love showing all the lines it definitely gives these cars a better perception =)
I had a 1962 galaxie 2 door hardtop with a 390 engine back in the early 70s when I was in high school. I loved that old car. You could do some awesome one wheel burnouts with it. I sold that car for 200 dollars. Good memories.
Awesome thank you so much for sharing those memories what a great story
First off, I like the looks of the 60 Galaxie over the 61. The 61 looks like it's been in styling rehab. Now your senarios - First, I absolutely love the styling and look of the 61 Impala, plus late in that model year the first Super Sport 409 could be had. The second senario... The Hornet wins in my mind. Heck, they used those in the early Nascar years with great success. Great video, and glad you survived the back seat!
It was bad I could not get it to go down. I was starting to get into like a panic because my leg was locked up in the back of the car. And wasn’t sure how I was getting out
Great choices, one vote for Hudson hornet 🐝
The 61is real cool since I saw the whole video-Nice!!!!
Awesome glad you dig this episode =)
ROFLMAO!
Wow, tool shed..
WWR #2: DANG, that 1938 Hudson 8 is a _NICE_ looking car! I'll have to vote for that!
Sweet one vote for 38 Hudson super eight
Nice presentation here. Subscribed. 👍🏻
Thank you welcome to this awesome car community =)
In 1970 the taillights of the 1970 Chevy Impala had them in the rear bumpers.
That Plymouth is a 1960 model.
Great catch I typed in Google 1961 and that’s what popped up lol
@What it’s like That can happen sometimes.
In 61 they lost the fins.
I was so worried you were going to ding the Thunderbird when you opened the door! Ha!
To the scenarios:
1. Though I love the Galaxie, for ‘61 (and only for ‘61) I would go for the Chevy. That was a great year for Chevy.
2. Show us the Jet!!!!
Cheers!!!
The Pierce arrow was way closer than this car was I’m really careful I do not hit the cars most of the time I put my hand in between the door so hand gets hit first i’m super careful

@@What.its.like. Bring a pool noodle - works great and no worries at all.
One vote for Hudson hornet
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, with 292 y block
The radiators had a 2 gallon capacity and the thermostats were either 185 or 195 degree temperature ratings is what you mean..
I’m not against Camaros Firebirds or mustangs those are cool too but there’s some shows that I go to that that’s all that are there or Chevy Belair‘s and Corvettes and Mustangs
One vote for 1935 super eight I said the wrong year in video
Great vid, the Fury!
Great choice =)
@@What.its.like. 👍👍
This makes me miss my 1961 Fairlane - the cheap and basic version of this car. 😉
Awesome thank you for sharing your Preferences. Glad you dig this episode =)
Awesome story thank you so much for sharing that amazing memory =)
I'm glad they brought the tail lights back from 59
The 1961 taillights were smaller than the 59's. Look at the next car show and you can see the difference..
1938 Hudson 8 👍
You got me on that tune 😱

Awesome story thank you so much for sharing those memories =) I’ll have to watch that movie
Our family had a 62 Ford. Not a Galaxy though. Some models had an accessary daytime light in the center of the grill.
For WYR, 61 Fury, just because style is style.
For Tuesday I am choosing the 54 Hudson Hornet because it's rounded. 😂
Hate those "Charlie horses" glad you survived.
Yeah I get the charley horse a lot that one wasn’t so bad I’ve had worse.. swimming is when it like to happen that always sucks.
What’s 62 Ford did your family have
Great choice one vote for Hudson hornet
I am not sure of the 62 model name. Am assuming lesser than galaxy. I was 8 and hadn't developed any particular interest in cars yet. It was a full size sedan though. There were 7 of us.
@@What.its.like. What the heck is a "charley horse?" 😉
Beautiful
What a beautiful car, I loved that 3 photo design ad you showed Jay, truly a car Ford and owners were proud of. As to the surveys, 1961 Galaxie and the 1954 Hudson Jet, as that was the car which destroyed Hudson's finances thanks to interference from managing director A.E Barit. No doubt, well intentioned, but had the Nash merger/takeover not happened, they probably would have gone bankrupt.
Awesome glad you dig this episode one vote for Hudson jet
No contest again, I would rather have the '61 Chevy Impala. The Ford Galaxy is nice but the GTO it's sitting next to is BAD ASS !! I hope you review that car in the future. As far as next week, I vote for the 1938 Hudson.

The 1938 Hudson. The cars of the 30s were fancy. The 1936 Pierce Arrow you filmed the other day was a very nice car. Too bad Pierce Arrow isn't around anymore. Same for Hudson.
My favorite era of cars always was the 50s but I can’t say that anymore I don’t know what I like better fins or fenders I really like the 30s, so much innovation =)

I was in middle school when the 1960 ford came out with the “gun sight” front fender trim. The bad boys would jump on the hoods and kick the gunsights off. Don’t ask me how I know.
Ha ha ha ha great story thank you so much for sharing those amazing memories
My dad had a Two tone Blue '62 Galaxie 2 door 500 with a 390 & triple deuce carb pushing a Ford-O-matic. I remember the back seat was like a living room when we went grocery shopping on Saturdays. As for my would I rather? I'll go with the 1961 Impala for the last year of classy styling & 1st year of sporty stance & hopefully with the 283/4spd manual. ;-) Also the 38 Hudson 8
Great choices still haven’t featured the Hudson super eight yet they’ll be coming up in the future
Thank you so much for sharing your 62 galaxy two-door with us what did you like the most about it what did you like the least about it?
Awesome choices and thank you so much for putting in your reasoning behind your picks =)
My vote is for the Hudson Hornet. Between the Chevy Ford & Mopar, I would pick the Chevy just to sell it.
Haha The fury does not look that bad for this year it actually looks really interesting, Great picks one vote for the Hudson hornet 🐝
(Also I think you used a picture of a 1960 Fury, 61 had no fins!)
WYR 2: My vote is for the Jet.
Sweet choices, yeah I used the wrong picture thank you for catching that =)

Cars back then we're far more exciting to drive than they are now. This car I'd want the 352 cubic inch V8 with 3speed Cruiseomatic transmission.
The dashboard is super basic I prefer this dashboard over the Chevy dashboard though, I’m not a fan of that it looks too basic. But yeah I agree
1960 Ford Dash, 1961 Plymouth 4 door hardtop and 1954 Hudson Hornet.
Sweet choices thank you for that correction I thought that that Plymouth looks like a 1960..
One vote for Hudson hornet
Thank you so much for all of the added information I sent you a message on Facebook check your inbox. =)

I gotta watch that because I’ve been mixing up years as of lately

I’m with you I love a good four-door hardtop they just looks so cool 😎
Had the 61 Impala, I would take the Fury.
Sweet that was a 60 fury I put the wrong picture in there
I would prefer the 1961 Galaxie to the Impala or the Fury.

Great choices that was a 60 Plymouth I put wrong year
One vote Hudson hornet
Why don't they pull those cars out for you for demo?
Easy l have all three.
Would you rather... 61 Pontiac even though not an option
Awesome 61 Pontiac is my favorite early gm product besides the electric
I have never seen the Hudson SuperJet
One vote for Hudson jet
Would You Rather #1: Ford Galaxy.
Sweet =)
I thought the 406 was available in 61'.
The rear end seems to copy the design of the grille.
But it’s painted that’s what’s weird about it
I don't know why but I'm a bit partial to the '60 Ford but in a convertible. Perhaps blue or white. Ford or GM but no Chrysler. Just not into them. The '38 Hudson looks interesting.
It would be hard to choose between 61 and 60 I like both of them, One vote for 35 super eight
@@What.its.like. Plus I always found the styling of the '61 kinda quirky. The front end was carried over in '62 while the rear made a come back in '63.
is there a 1957 ford sunliner for sale there?
They have a Skyliner for sale
www.classicautomall.com/vehicles/1209/1957-ford-fairlane-500-skyliner
61 Chevrolet Impala all day
Sweet choice =)
The 61 fixed all of the styling sins of the 60, so why is it that whenever I see a 60 can I not stop looking at it? Answers = Impala, Hornet.
Awesome choices =)
I'll take that 61 Plymouth Fury, especially if it has a Hemi
61 Impala
Sweet choice =)
It's called a wheel opening
1. 1961 Ford Galaxie.
2. 1954 Hudson Hornet.
Tune: Something in the Rock & Roll category. Not sure.
Sweet choices one vote for 1954 Hudson hornet =)
@@What.its.like. If you had said 1951 Hudson Hornet, you would've probably used a picture of the real-life Doc Husdson.
I’ve been looking for one since last year there was one at the museum but I ran out of time only had an hour there and I shot five or six cars I don’t remember which went over my our time allotted we talked a lot in between filming.
I wanna go back there’s also so many places that I wanna check out as well
@@What.its.like. Nice.👍
*Back when Ford made good, quality cars, and gave you plenty of choices including many that were actually
affordable to the masses UNLIKE the company of today, which is a disgrace!*
Thank you for that correction I picked the wrong picture lol
@@What.its.like. it happens... i sent my grandson a pic of what was supposed to be the likeness of my '76 Grand Marquis, and instead... it was... shudder... a '76 Caprice Classic... LOL
I remember when the ‘60 debuted in 1959. My impression was that it was butt ugly.
The ‘59 Galaxy was by far a superior car in appearance.
The ‘61 was the beginning of much better looking cars coming from Ford.
I like the ‘61 Galaxy however I favor the ‘61 Impala.
My forth car was a ‘61 Impala Bubble Top.
I love the 59 galaxy. I hope to cover one this year =) that’s probably my favorite Late era ford
