- Nitin Gadkari is a Minister in PM Modi’s cabinet and is always termed as the Highway man of India due to the transformational change which he has brought to the country’s infrastructure and connectivity in the last nine years as minister of road transport and highways. Gadkari, like many other BJP politicians, has a RSS background and comes from the city of Nagpur where he started his political career as a Karyakarta of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Gadkari is also credited for being the man behind the first ever expressway (Mumbai-Pune) by bringing in new technologies in the country and helping private companies to ensure quality work in creating modern infrastructure. Gadkari is also a strong advocate of sustainable development and his eco-friendly initiatives in road construction have led to the use of garbage in road construction as a raw material. Before taking charge as union minister, Gadkari donned several hats in organisation as well as governance and has served as BJP national president from 2009 to 2013 and PWD Minister from 1995-1999 in Maharashtra. In this edition of ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Gadkari talks about big ticket projects being constructed by his ministry, he also talks about the developmental push in the north-east and future projects for the country. He also highlights the importance of sustainable development and how he plans to reduce the dependency of automobiles on traditional fuel to alternative sources of energy. He further talks about how the transformational change in infrastructure is helping grow the country’s economy and is reducing poverty. On the political front, he also slams the opposition for attacking Savarkar and claims that the BJP will be sweeping in upcoming legislative elections in states as well as the general elections in 2024.

There's been huge corruption by the contractors in the silchar guwahati highway and it has been stalled since upa government. Barak valley with a population of around half a million hardly got any projects from the nhai.

Her whole tenure was under covid effect where most of the economic giants collapsed but india stood firmly. UK and Germany are in heavy recession but recession couldn't touch india. As a citizen of Nagpur we already knew this man is different from other politician but still we wasted 15 years electing congress MP. Although he was not even contested at that time, but within his first 5 year he has changed the geography of city and also Indian Roads and highways.

Till he came we thought tr balu was a good minister for tn highways, but what a missed chance it was ,only when Nithin gadkari kind of focused people brought real development keeping the common man in mind

Over last one year, I traveled by road about 1500 km (both way 3000 lm), in the states of Haryana, UP, Punjab. No traffic light. Road has been so smooth, I felt I am traveling by train (sitting in the back). Thank you

NITIN Gadkari Saheb at his house (at Mahal) in Nagpur 9 years before for a SMART ROAD for SMART CITIES a TOTALLY NEW Concept. Despite his Conceptual APPROVAL and FOLLOW up with Authorities in Pune I could not achieve / Complete it. But the IDEA is STILL VALID and I would like to do if possible.

BEFORE PLANNING ANY NEW HIGHWAY, GADKARI SHOULD ENSURE THAT ALL NATIONAL HIGHWAYS ARE THOROUGHLY FENCED ON BOTH SIDES. On one side I cannot stop myself from appreciating the efforts on other hand many new roads just an year old are broken, quality of connecting bridges are full of undulation making cars to fly in the air, not to say the potholes RIGHT IN MIDDLE of the roads causing accidents. Roads are layed but quality is very very intferior among all stretches in India.
Gadkariji alone is enough reason to vote BJP into Government in 2024

I recently had the pleasure of driving on the Mysore to Bangalore expressway, and I must admit, it's an amazing piece of infrastructure. I want to express my gratitude for this accomplishment.
However, I would like to bring to Gadakariji’s attention a matter of concern regarding lane discipline. Many lorries, motorcycles, goods auto, and slow-moving cars tend to use the right side of the road, which can be a significant safety hazard. This issue has the potential to cause accidents, fatalities, and seriously undermine the value of such a remarkable road.
I kindly request that the authorities address this issue promptly by implementing very strict rules and enforcement to ensure proper lane discipline. This step would greatly enhance the safety and efficiency of this expressway.
Thank you once again for the excellent infrastructure, and I hope this feedback can contribute to making it even safer for all travelers.

I'm happy and proud of the various improvements and development of road construction.
but there are a few critical issues:
1) There is much more development in North & West - south very few projects
2) Bangalore - Chennai NH is terrible - very slow road widening work - no progress
3) Toll is very high more than Rs 2 per km - that is 35-40% of petrol/diesel cost - too high.....Toll charges have to be brought down.....
In South there is lot of friction between state & central government.... U see Maharastra in South there lots of projects r in under construction and happening very fast... U need to ask ur state govt to corporate with central govt...
First vote BJP parties to power in state level then you will see development at faster rate...
