I don't understand why we can't get real highlights? It's understandable if this channel doesn't have the rights to make a longer video or even use any onboard shots at all, but who has the rights then? And why don't they make highlight videos? The onboard shots ALWAYS manage to broadcast the madness of these 24 hour races, but the action never looks as exciting or at least you don't get a sense of what's really going on if you're only watching the race from outside of the cars.
This were the first Spa 24 Hours I saw in person. Starting under SC was a joke, sorry. And given the length of the red flag I left the circuit at 9:00 AM for good, did 450 km to join home and came just before the beginning of the German GP. Apart from that, the cars look amazing, the sound is just AMAZING (particularily the Audis and the Lambos). And the possibility to go in the paddock during the race is why Blancpain GT Series is one of the best championships at the moment.
Well Formula 1 also started under safety car and they have way better drivers, a way smaller field of cars and it didn't even rain that much at Hockenheim. Also the rain was really strong in the night so there wasn't really any other option as it rained nearly the whole race.
@@Spyker8921 Yep, but there wasn't standing water during the night. That's the point. Over time it accumulated so much they had to redflag it and let it dry out a little bit. The cars were basically aquaplaning on the straights with the drivers hoping it wouldn't catch them out. If they kept it going someone would have 100% crashed at one point and caused a FCY/SC, leading up to the same result. Except now, they made it safer for the drivers and for the teams which might have otherwise crashed.
@@Maenfy I want onboard streams or none at all. I can feel the madness when I'm watching an onboard, and I just see racecars racing in the rain from outside. Only onboard-livestreams I know about are the N24hr ones.
Having watched about 30 editions of this race, I have seen them race through the night in worse conditions. Only about 50% racing time in the first 5 hours. Get soft-wall or concrete barriers installed at Combes so that hours are not lost replacing barriers. Marshals leaning on the barriers at parts of the circuit. Fcy/SC protocol ruined the race for the first 6 hours. Spa circuit has done nothing to improve the spectator facilities after promising to do so. This race promised so much yet was very disappointing for the hard core spectator who is prepared to be out in the rain for all those hours. Don't believe the flashy tweets and Instagram posts from teams, this race, for hard core spectatorse who put in a huge effort to get there and stick it out, was wrecked by the fcy/SC procedure. At least one major crash can be attributed to the fcy/SC. I won't be going again, along with many others who have realised that proper competition is being ruined overlong neutralisation of the race. Many of the younger, casual visitors weren't too bothered about the race, they were there for the concerts. The crowd camping next to us said that they wouldn't watch any of the race as they were only going into the circuit at 20:00, nearly 4 hours after it started. If the cars can't cope with the conditions, go back to the type of cars that were used in the 90's.
I really regretted staying during the night, I was at Radillion until 8:30 in the morning. But then I eventually left because I had enough of all the waiting and red flags. Next time it rains I will make sure to go home early because this was just terrible

to be fair the last few hours did give us some proper racing. also Kevin Estre always put on some awesome driving in his stints. great stuff all around. but imo the SC was soooo bad... I mean he picked up the wrong race leader like 2 times? it was a bit of a joke. also sad to see so many FCY... this ain't IMSA xD
IMSA has been a bit better with that lately but yeah Spa always seems to have way too many safety cars. All 24 hour races should consider a Nurburgring-like system
@@SwingAxleLover I disagree. The N24hr system is designed for a deathtrap of a racetrack, no need for code60s if you have huge runoff zones or can improve safety by other means. The ring needs strict safety because there are barriers right next to the track everywhere. I think every other course is less dangerous and therefore can find solutions which don't slow down or restrict the race as much. FCY is the worst but code 60s (and the resulting time penalties) aren't nice either, if there's no other way to stop cars from crashing that's fine though.
SC after FCY is just pure shit. You could just anounce when you're going to go green and then the flag screen in the car would also show the green flag. It's what's been working for LeMans perfectly so why shouldn't it work for Spa? I agree with the red flag but definetly not with the use of the SC as all work is completed and the SC procedure takes time and kills any hard-fought gaps

Will I personally think that Spa was a pretty good race, the lead fight in the last few hours between the #1 Audi, the #4 Mercedes and the #20 Porsche was breathtaking. There were a lot of good fights in the race but F1 wasn't bad either to be honest.
I'd have to disagree. F1 was great but there was so much action at Spa I couldn't possibly say F1 was better. If anything the F1 race was just a 2 hour version of spa: crashes, changing condition, many FCYs, a Mercedes leading early and not winning etc.
At 1:29, 6:17, 6:58, 7:40, 8:15, and 8:21, Mercedes-AMG GT3 Itasha Promare are truly awesome. 😀🏆

This was my first time as well. I was walking around the paddocks at 3am, quite an unforgettable experience
That was a damn good race. Just wish the US would air more than 6 hours of it. But for what I saw it was a really good scrap.

They do that so the drivers can heat up their brakes and tyres, the teams seem to have suggested that idea.
