Great car. I’ve owned mine for 5 years, and it has given me 0 issues. After 150.000km, the car still performs great. I don’t think I’ve had a more reliable car than this one. Very good mileage at highway speeds. Downsides:Very low seating position. Not very good on gas in city driving. The ECO mode doesn’t help a whole lot, and it turns the engine rather sluggish.Steering feels too bland. I’ll keep it for a couple more years and then I’ll start to look for a replacement. I’m looking at the Optima or a second hand Stinger.
Very good review. Always nice when other-car footage is edited in when the reviewer mentions another car so the viewer can see what they're talking about. Be sure to sit in the back and show how much room in the reviews. That kind of thing can be a dealbreaker for buyers. The Rio and Accent especially deserve rear seat time since you can actually fit adults back there. This is a nice car, and not just "for the price."
Great review. I learned more about the car here than I did at Kia's site. Problem... I cannot find the car with the 6 speed manual transmission here in the US. I've also been told that power windows are not available with the manual transmission model. Frustrating! Again.. Great review.
Depends what country you buy it. In Canada you need to go to the EX to get the soft touch dash. They are mostly sold out in Canada could only get an LX+, at least we got our color. Amazing fuel economy and sits on the hwy at 120 without issue.
Hmmm I'll have to remember this. I believe VW has always bragged about their quality and have nice touches to their cars as well as the best door-shut noise in the business but I have heard mixed reviews in terms of reliability. Although it has been in the cheaper models with less vw touches (Jetta, beetle)
in Thailand the Rio has a 1.4 engine and sells for $25.000 but has a nice two tone leather interior, and you might think the price is crazy, but the fiesta and fit are pretty similar in price hear
Very good to see the base model tested. It's definitely is well equipped for the money. Hyundai and Kia are really doing a great job bringing cars with a great list standard equipment and great quality . Sorry you can't get a small car for $9,000 , the cars of the '80 were cheap but not well built , the dash on my sister's '85 Sundance was like steel and the rest was poor quality !!
@Motormouthcanada Sorry about the delayed response. Try keywords that people who would be interested in this review would type into the search bar, such as 2012, kia, rio, subcompact, review, subcompact, test drive, interior, exterior, and other stuff directly related to the car, instead of the header for your review. Thanks for listening to my feedback.
Yeah, a really good one, review I mean. It's a bit weird that steering wheel doesnt telescope, it's a standard in a basic model here in the EU. Ohh, we don't have cruise control, even in the top model.
@davidhalifax i know right! when i first saw the rio i thought the same thing! it looks so much like the old honda civics...which isnt bad but isnt necesarily good.....
seems expensive to me ... I'd go 7500.00 maybe 200.00 for one that is a yr. old...local dealer in clearwater is stickering way over MSRP.. buy a base subaru imprezza for 17,500..
@everybody this car is over priced, small cars should mean small price. Thats a $9,000 dollar car, maybe less. The cars of the 80's were better priced and better built... they should remake the 85' Nissan Sentra great little runner for $5,000 brand new... those were the good ol' days...

Very good and unbiased review! I bought the 2015 Rio LX+ sedan...and very happy with the car. Having much FUN with it... LOL!
@KING442DUNN No soft touch dash on the base hatch, which does cost over $15,000 in canada, only the sedan version is cheaper.
What is the deal with all these reviewers and a soft touch dash. I couldn't care less. Let's talk about things that matter.
Great review. I learned more about the car here than I did at Kia's site.

Can you give me an example of the kinds of tags to use?
I just picked up a 2012 rio hatchback white for only $1300, runs and drives well
1.300 $ ?
I got the 2013 for $3695 at 58k miles.

Thank you for that review
From Morocco
Thanks for watching!

I like your review man, pretty straight and very informative. Thanks!
You did this actually very well. The review I mean. Nice.

I think the tag is just fine.
i think the accent has nicer styling. is it more fun to drive than the accent?
what he is driving is not the base model. It is the LX+ which is $1000 more than he says it is. Still great value
What’s the fuel economy ?
This car has 138 horsepower! Not 148. Nice review :)
I have the same car but it doesn't have cruise control
100000km warranty is 60000 mi. That's standard powertrain w/ them all .
Good review thanks a lot from Montreal!

@Motormouthcanada
Just a tip, change the tags for this video, these tags won't get this video to show up in anyone's search results.
wow its better than the Honda fit and the Toyota yaris.. much much better overall.. I love them
u get soft plastic once u upgrade to EX trim
@davidhalifax i know right! when i first saw the rio i thought the same thing! it looks so much like the old honda civics...which isnt bad but isnt necesarily good.....

480 P come on this is 2011, 720 P minimum. Love your show but I need HD.
the car produces 138 HP, not 148
you should have said you where reviewing the hatch one
Right
The same basic car, only the styling is different.
Selling price for 2012
Kio 2012 selling price

This car, looking nicer than picanto,...
good one :)
Wrong there is was 2012 model so correct your
Nice car..but Hyundai i20 is better.. here in Eu Kia have 7 year guarantee..
Is it me or the car look small or he just very tall. lol :)
Why do you touch your dashboard? Is that a fetish thing?
lol .. it was a joke, mate - relax.
Heated seats are the biggest waste of money ever. I'd rather have some sortof electrical assist for the blown in heat so it blows hot almost instantly
Shut up!!!!!!!!!!!! The dashboard is soft touch. How do i know because i have a kia rio. The rio also starts at 13,600 not no 15,000.
