We are also doing BJU. We love it. But I will say that last year we had ordered all the books and DVD's for 6 classes and if we were to do all of those classes daily it would take my kids like 10 hours to finish. It was WAY too much. The first day we were all crying and it took us until 7pm to finish. So we cut back to 4 core classes. I just can't handle doing school until dinner time or later.....no way . Best wishes to you! The curriculum is amazing.
Love your videos! Thank you for taking the time showing this curriculum. Past 3 years I’ve used Abeka/parent led. This year we went with BJU Press for all subjects with DVD’s. I’m having a problem with the DVD’s being blurry. We purchased 2 new DVD-R players and it’s still blurry. Can you please recommend the DVD -R player you used. Thank you
Hmmm sorry to hear you’re experiencing that. Have you tried putting them into a regular laptop or computer to see if they’re still blurry? I found one at Walmart that was inexpensive for my son And for my daughter I got an attachment for her laptop since there was no disc drive. I can’t Rmbr from where. I want to say Amazon but I’m not seeing it in my order history. Maybe Walmart as well? Right now they use older laptops that my brother refurbished and updated with actual disc drives. But we have been using the online only option and it’s been so much easier than the DVDs
I love your system! This our 2nd year with BJU and we struggled to stay organized our first year. Thank you for sharing. How did you organize the DVDs for every day use?
We really liked TGTB. I might switch back to that for next year. I’ll see how my kids do with the whole DVD option. But TGTB was pretty straight forward, easy to use and great for kids imo.
I love how you organize. We may have to do the RV living for a while in the near future so it’s fun to see how someone living the RV life does. It. Just subscribed. I also have a channel with tons of homeschooling content. It would be fun to be friends and connect here 😊. Looking forward to watching your fun content. Looks like you do a great job doing things you enjoy while being a full time homeschooling mom. Awesome!
Love this video! 🥰 Just recently discovered BJU and going to try it out soon. If you choose to do the videos how do you get the answers to the workbooks like English and math? Do you have to buy a teacher guide as well?
we rly liked BJU. It’s pricier but they teach it. It’s not super modern but they teach the material well imo. TGTB is more classical approach to things (Charlotte mason), with the poetry, art integration etc… and it’s mainly parent led (parent teaches). We liked both and I bought both to use for this upcoming school year. I’ll be doing TGTB for my daughter going into kindergarten since I want to do the teaching. But I’ll be using “teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons” for learning to read bc I wasn’t crazy with how TGTB taught learning to read. Maybe it changed since I used it last, idk. & we are doing BJU again for my older two. They did well with it and seemed to rly like it.
@@TashVitorsky We used TGTB last year for first grade. My daughter worked through the reading booster books B and C quickly and developed a love of reading using their program. She can’t get enough of their books. I really like what I see with BJU but am amazed with the love of learning she has developed with using TGTB. Based on what you’ve seen, does it appear that TGTB goes as in depth as BJU?
@@shannonabner510 I would say they're completely diff learning styles if you're doing DVD option for BJU. BJU is more subject by subject, whereas TGTB integrates a lot of the subjects into one so it flows differently. IDK if that makes sense. I think they're both great. I haven't used TGTB above grade 2. So can't speak on slightly higher grades.
Do ppl who use bju have to have a homeworksprecept consultant? Lot of ppl on fb groups say to get one. But any chance you can give insight on which kinder edition is what? Like between 3rd edition vs 4th edition ?
I’ve never heard of home works precept so not sure what that is. I bought everything via the bjupresshomeschool website You pick what grade level you’re shopping for, if you want dvd or online and you can buy the material for the entire grade www.bjupresshomeschool.com/k5-online-with-books/5637427185.p
BJU (Bob Jones University) has been pretty awful and sadly ran by some pretty perverted, horrible people but not everyone knows this. Hopefully there have been changes over the years but from what you are saying, it’s not sounding like it is 😭
I don’t know anything about BJU, the school. I’ll have to look into that as those are some very serious allegations, which I was not aware of but thanks for bringing it up. As for the curriculum, it seems solid. I haven’t used it yet so can’t speak too much on it. I know BJU is the publisher, but doesn’t mean I align with everything they have done (or do). Definitely not that behavior you have mentioned. Nor do I condone that. I think as a parent it’s your job to teach your child basic human decency amongst many other things. The curriculum is just there to teach certain subjects from a biblical worldview (bjupress). I can’t speak for anyone but our family & our home but we certainly do not teach or condone such behavior. And I’ll keep this information in mind for next year when it comes time to buy a curriculum. Thanks for bringing it up.
NEVER! heard that before!! And we've known many extremely loving, Homeschoolers that love BJU curricula; who've gone on to amazing things with their lives.... @Tash Looks like you're being trolled.. So many trolls out here that target all things "Christian" as homophobic...
Differs from family to family. I think the biggest reason are: religion/ faith + being able to provide the children more attention especially if the school districts nearby are not up to par
@Steph Anie completely agree. like the comments above have mentioned, each family chooses to homeschool for their own personal reasons. there are plenty of opportunities for social interaction nowadays.
My child would’ve had to wait until she was six to start kindergarten because of her birthday. She’s very mature and smart for her age so I refused to hold her back for a year just to keep up with the city. I can’t speak for older kids but younger kids benefit from having their curriculum tailored to their strong and weak areas.
I feel your statement is very ignorant . It would be like someone saying, I can’t believe you send your child to public school to be indoctrinated. Both are unfair comments. My children are homeschool due to personal choice. I think everyone has to what is best for there children.
This is sooo helpful and amazing, makes so much sense!! Love your weekly binder and that you organised by quarters. Thanks sooo much!
Glad to hear it was helpful 🥰
Yes! First time using BJU and we are starting with grade 3.
We’ve done BJU for a couple years now and love it.
so glad to hear that. we are excited to try it out.
We've always heard great things about BJU curricula!! Excellent vid! Very informative! Looks pretty amazing! TY for sharing!

Doing 4 core classes a day how long does it take to finish a year worth of schooling?
Great choice and I love what you did with the interior of the RV.
thank you ❤

Hi Tash! How are you guys getting on with the curriculum this year?
I love your system! This our 2nd year with BJU and we struggled to stay organized our first year. Thank you for sharing.
How did you organize the DVDs for every day use?
so glad to hear this video was helpful. I just placed the DVD's all in a cabinet in the TV console. they fit like a glove.
and each kid would take whatever DVDs they needed for that day, which was usually every dvd (science & heritage studies on rotation)
This is our first year homeschooling and we’re using The Good and the Beautiful 😊
If I switched to homeschooling I would definitely give this a try
