wow tried these tips and finally got through all of the questions how helpful!! was findng accuracy okay but would waste too much time on the '4 scan' questions. I hope to keep practicing over these days and improve my score for the real exam!! x
Literally one of the best video on UA-cam for VR tips!!! Thank you so much❤️! Just a quick question..would you say the passage length in the real exam is similar to medify or the shorter ones on official UCAT? I’ve found that medify have longer passages but easier questions and the official whistle has shorter passages but harder questions.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. From my experience I found that the passage length was generally half way between medify and UCAT official. Not as short as the UCAT official but definitely not as consistently long as medify. It's always hard to say as it is a shuffle of questions. I would advise that you do lots of practice with both resources so that you're used to the different passage lengths / question styles. If you have any more questions feel free to ask on here or message on insta. Hope that helps xx
omg EVERYONE should watch this video, have learned more from it than any other medic youtuber out there, I will try the 1 and 4 scan technique THANKS!! really wish i found this earlier!! would u recommend rescheduling exam dates. I have been preparing for a while now but have been neglecting VR. idk what to do...
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it. Try not to saturate yourself by doing too much revision. It can be easy to get into a habit of delaying your test but sometimes it’s better to just go for it. If you really do feel unprepared though it’s probably best to delay slightly.
@@LotteStoll feeling pretty prepared but still so many things i feel like i have to do!! my mock scores are fluctuating but seems to be going in the right direction, any tips for day before the exam? xx
Hey, thanks for the vid. I had a question about VR So I’ve got my UCAT in 5 days, and I’ve been practising for about 3 weeks (ik it’s a bit shorter than most ppl’s prep but we had family deaths). For VR, I heard that the passages were generally shorter but the questions were harder and more inference-based? The problem with using the official UCAT website is the VR question bank isn’t timed, and it doesn’t save how many questions you’ve done. What would u suggest I do between now and my exam to help, cuz VR is my worst section I’d say.
Hey thank you for your question! I'm really sorry to hear about your family news. I would definitely advise that you use the UCAT question bank to practice verbal reasoning questions. However, use a circuit timer (IntervalTimer) as a way to monitor your time. It will beep every 30 seconds to push you to do the questions quicker. This can be quite stress inducing, however, will help you to feel less stressed on the day. I wouldn't advise this 2 days before your exam as it is stressful so just try this method today and tomorrow ideally. To compliment that, do medify mocks and/ or UCAT official mocks as this will help you with your general timing. Try not to worry too much and get rest just before the exam (no mocks the day before). If you have anymore questions please do go ahead and ask! Always here to help and I wish you all the best for your exam!!
@@LotteStoll Thank u so much. I’m definitely going to try the circuit timer technique, and continue doing Medify questions (mainly mini-mocks and full mocks). Will let u know how it goes :)
Number 1 reason verbal is the most difficult section: you see a really long passage and you just cannot find the energy to even read it because it's that boring. It's the most common fall section in actual exams and those who start revision too late often just say it's better to just take an L and make up marks elsewhere. I've personally have gotten a 4th percentile score while getting below 600 in verbal and most candidates who score within the 3000 - 3200 range just did really good in the next 3 sections and had a verbal score that's mediocre at best. It's only people who score 3200 or higher who manage not to lose that many points in verbal. Still, I can't ever recommend to anyone not to revise it well enough and to just prepare to do bad in that section from the start, too many marks are lost if you don't and if you end up getting a very bad later section, which has happened to me before as well, then you'll seriously underperform. Last year pearsons told me there was a glitch in my situational judgement section and gave me the choice to either redo the entire ucat exam or take a band 4. Obviously I had to redo it and in the end I got the worst abstract section I've ever seen and ended up bottling it and getting 590. For context abstract is normally my best section and I got 880 in the original exam and so I ended up going from a 4th percentile score to a 20th, that could've been avoided if I cared a bit more for verbal which towards the end of my revision that year I had more or less dismissed as it was so much effort
@@atiyacozycorner haha it’s been a minute since I wrote that. Yeah stuff happens but you gotta power through it, I didn’t get any offers that year, went in the year after, got even higher with a legit 1st percentile score for UCAT and still no offers in the UK but got one in Ireland. In my second year here now and no one remembers it, you just gotta keep going and after a bit once you’re past it you won’t even remember it, same as anything else whether it’s your GCSEs, your A Levels, UCAT, interviews or whatever else. Don’t be disheartened by bad results, whether they’re your fault or not they’ll happen to everyone so just learn what you can from them and just keep working hard and you’ll make it, then once you do you’ll barely even remember those struggles which at the time seemed like everything
This was so so helpful, really appreciate it:)) - I was scoring around 200-300 and now I scoring 600 consistently (still needs a lot of work tho), I was just wondering if you'd go over the different VR question types because you said there were so many but I've only learnt about 2 (RC and TFC) I learnt about 4 scan and 1 scan just today. I understand however that the video was made 2 years ago so honestly a comment would suffice.
Good luck!! Make sure to rest before your exam and maybe even take the whole day off before or at least half the day. It’s really important to clear your mind. Have a good breakfast, maybe do some light exercise (a walk, yoga etc.) and believe in yourself!!
