Years of being a fan of tim and eric have made it impossible for me to believe that anything this guy ever does is serious. I can't help but feel like this is, even in the most miniscule way, tongue-in-cheek
I'm going to say that this is pretty genuine music. Have you ever heard "Bottle of Wine"- The Tim Heidecker Masterpiece? This isn't Tim's first foray into soft rock.
I think you got it right. Every lyric on this album is so perfectly and subtly meaningless. Over those cool, 70's-sounding melodies they seem right, but take one second to think about what it means and immediately you're like, "Huhh?"
"For us, there are a lot of funny things happening musically, but it's a mixed bag. There wasn't a lot of pretense like, 'We're only gonna make stuff that makes us laugh.' It's just what came out of us. . . . We thought it was funny how there's no attempt at being clever, it's just blah." -TH
@metalfalsetto that's exactly what's happening. He's proving you can parody something while still celebrating it. I genuinely enjoy these cheesy songs, but some of the lines are so simple and stupid that they're beautifully naive and hilarious.
@brosuph1334 I get it. It's TIm Heidecker. But I really don't think this is going for the "cheesy for cheesiness' sake" angle. It just sounds like a bad Steely Dan tribute band.
@hungus5000tron To anyone actually believing this is serious, JESUS CHRIST. They say Americans can't understand irony, but you guys really don't get it? Every piece -- especially from a comedian -- you have to ask, is this parody/irony, or real? And from comedians who push the boundary between reality and humor already, by default, you are basically very close to braindead to assume it ISN'T ironic. THIS IS A JOKE! Welcome to the 20th Century! Oh wait, it's the 21st, isn't it? Catch up!
Truth be told.. this is not that good. Go to the bargain bin of any music store and you can find superior music from the seventies, instead of this stuff which is just a copy.
I love Tim Heidecker. This music is amazing.

The cool thing is you could play this at a party and people would just dig it
anything Tim does is going to be funny. I think that tim actually does like this kind of music and enjoys playing it also!
Davin Wood is a great guitar player. I love that lick during the solo on "Rolo Tony Brown Town."
2:33 such cheesy keyboardin' I love it.
The guy who does all the music for Tom Goes to the Mayor and Tim and Eric AS:GJ! is named "Davin Wood". Never noticed that, I guess?
This dude has such an ear/eye for satire that it is virtuosic.
Hey now... this is actually really good. That ending rocks.
Sounds like their Reelin' in the Years on this one ;)
im totally getting a Grateful Dead vibe from this. Love it!

super dank outro you guys.
I love the sitcom that goes with this too, starring Ted Knight and Dodi Goodman.
a classic shuffle!
saw thems live, extreme.
Like seein The Boss live

thanks for crushing my dreams of falsely constructed irony
Pastiche - good word to know.
toilet steely dan. fuckin' love it!
"There's my chippy" 2:39
420 brahs!
I wonder how many tim's fans are also cbb's fans
cbb's?
Is it just me, or did those intro runs just smack of Eric Johnson? More basic, maybe, but definitely inspired. :)
the end is how i feel on ayuashca
oh deng
you guys are funny for thinking this is serious! the jokes on you!
@And8But hey, Im just tim!
I hear a little steely Dan
loololol i could just see them in the studio "uhh we want this to sound like a poor man's steely dan"
What gave it away? Was it the tribal boogie mixed in at the end?
I hear a little Allman brothers in middle?
@metalfalsetto you don't get it, its tim heidecker, of course its going to be cheesey. im pretty sure thats the point.
@PrickForce Is it? They aren't really doing anything that Ween hasn't done already. People don't assume everything Ween does is a joke. Bob.
in a miniscule way? this is a pretty hilarious, over the top nod to steely dan, or at least that's the way i see it.
@durrr123 Of course it is...somehow

it is satire. he's making fun of several classic rock artists
this partly rips off "reelin' in the years" by steely dan... no complaints though, hilarious and weirdly enjoyable at the same time

i am leaning to believe that the other dude is not named wood. it just sounds annoying ha
I just can't accept any seriousness from Tim Heidecker. It feels very wrong.

Wow. This is awful.
