I remember those days having three children in one bedroom. We made it. We traded rooms and put them in the master bedroom. At that time, we only had one bathroom. After 10 years, we added another bedroom and bathroom, which helped. However, a surprised 4th miracle joined our family.

Kids' clothes can get overwhelming so fast! One of the most helpful pieces of advice I ever heard about kids' clothes was the "rule of 5's." I think it was from The Minimal Mom. Basically, it says that 5 of any specific type of clothing item is enough. So, not 5 shirts in total, but rather 5 long-sleeved, 5 tees, 5 button downs, 5 sweaters, etc. It still leaves us with plenty, but also easily shows me where there are holes. Because maybe they currently have 20 sweaters but only 1 pair of jeans. It also eliminates the need for switching things around every season. I've been using it as a guideline for myself and my kids ever since.
Ah, I’ve not heard that rule before but I love it! Definitely going to check out our items and see how closely we adhere to that!
It's so hard to be minimal with little girl clothes, there are so many adorable things. When we read in the Laura Ingalls Wilder books how few items of clothes they survived with, we realize how excessive we are today.
Yes, so true! It’s good for me and for my children to hear how little people lived with and yet what beautiful lives they created ❤️

If you have a hard to shut dresser drawers, you can run ivory soap. Aint he kinda soap, really on the bottom of it, are candle wax? And it helps it slide the drawers slide better and your house of three bedroom or two I used to have a sixteen by eighty trailer
I found when my kids were young, I just did not need that many clothes for them. They grew out of them so quickly and I had to wash clothes a few times a week. I had about 3 sets of dress clothes and about 7 play clothes. It worked well for me.

So satisfying! I was lamenting how hard it would be to do this for my older girls who have opinions on their clothing but realized this would be a great learning opportunity for them :) Thank you for sharing!
It is such a great life skill to teach them! I’m learning that sometimes we think more means more when often it can be a roadblock to getting dressed, playing, etc.
