Great video Thank you. I sometimes use both apple map and waze at the same time to test it. My main concern is to get notified of speed cameras, red light cameras and speed traps and waze is so much better that apple so I almost never use apple maps for that reason.
I got hooked on Waze with all the alerts in it. And the fact that it shows my speed on the screen next to the speed limit. If Apple did that I would switch over. I do like Apple maps and they are great for walking and off-line, but I’m just hooked on those couple of features that Waze has. I do a tremendous amount of driving and they are helpful
I have been using Apple Maps for years now - and I am very glad with it. Especially starting the road assistant from the address book. Years ago I experimented with different apps, but Apples app is simply wonderful. I live in the the east of The Netherlands, and use it whenever I have tot drive longer distance, whether domestic, farther away or abroad. Recommended!
Thanks Dylan I’ve been using Apple Maps for quite a time now, but with your guide and spoken in plain clear language I now know a lot more on how to get around Apple Maps quickly 👍😎
Thanks for this excellent video. What I miss in Apple Maps compared to Google Maps is the support for electric vehicles in the sense of calculation and display of charging stops, etc.
I went to Chicago a few years ago and used Google Maps because Inwasbused to a Google Maps. It would tell me to turn in 800 feet when I was downtown and there could be multiple intersections before my turn. I noticed that Apple Maps would tell me to turn at the third intersection instead. With traffic and everything, that was a nice feature.
I must admit I have preferred Google maps and only used Apple Maps when using CarPlay. I had no idea the versatility of Apple Maps until I watched this video. You have converted me. This being January 2025, I hope you are safe from the California fires.
I did the same thing until I bought my new truck. It won’t display Apple Maps in the “speedometer” area where it’s most helpful. It just shows a paragraph of text telling you it can’t display Apple Maps. I have to use Google or the built in map system (TomTom) in order to get the map right in front of me where it’s most useful.
This was really useful - the pace that you go is perfect ( many other UA-cam training videos go too fast ) - Apple maps is an awesome app - very useful
Great video. You forgot to mention my favourite feature. Apple maps remembers where I parked my car automtically. Great for those of us with no sense of direction!
Really good video. I’ve always been an Apple Maps user and I’m surprised you didn’t show one of the best features which is lane guidance. I know that’s one thing that my Google maps using friends are always pleasantly surprised by when they see how well Apple Maps does this.
Another fantastic video! I truly enjoyed this highly informative tutorial. After watching this, I'm convinced it's time for me to switch to Apple Maps. Thank you!!
I’ve used these maps since I’ve got my iPhone 12 Pro during Covid and all the iOS updates, but finding a place with the phone pointed in the correct direction can be difficult if not familiar with that area, so it’s best to start with your local area in real life that you know well to get familiar with the functions by navigating through your local area with the map - I’ve done this here in the U.K. where I live and with my home village in Ireland, but the photos on the phone/maps don’t always match what the area looks like in real life at that time, as they can’t keep up with the changes over a 12 month period
Thanks for this! I have so many lists I use in Google Maps, i wonder if there’s a way to import them into Apple Maps. I’d like to move over to Apple Maps. I love learning this way
Ive started using apple maps for navigation mainly for the always on feature with the latest pro phones. Gamechanger as you're driving. Other than that i mainly use google maps for traffic info as i still dont really trust apple traffic.
Dylan. Thanks for this video I loved it. I have 2 questions. First, is there a way to add a few stops and ask Siri to put them in order by distance. I also would like to know if the actual routes are reliable especially when there is heavy traffic and maybe it’s better to hop off the 405 and take surface streets(like Waze does)? Oh and I don’t love the shirt but you are the man!!!
I am always impressed with how apple people are so upbeat about apple. Most of the features you spoke about are great but all are offer by other apps, often in a better fashion. I use mapping primarily as a navigation tool. Therefore be advised about navigation conditions such as traffic condition and event (accidents, construction, road closures and speed limits, and what my speed is and am I exceeding the speed limit) and all of this dynamically. My mapping apps also take into consideration my favourite routes. Apple Maps seems to do none of this. It seems to be a loopy pop mapping tool for walkers. Not to mention poor coverage except for some American cuties. Google maps, waze and just about anything seems to be better than Apple Maps. In terms of navigation apple doesn’t seem to be trying.
Is there a way that it can give directions through your headset or earbuds while talking on the phone or listening to music like Google maps and Waze? That’s why I don’t use it because of that.
I hear you. I live in Los Angeles where traffic is a huge time stealer, so I use Waze whenever I want accurate traffic times. But the rest of the time, I've been very happy with Apple Maps.
Thank you for this, Question i got a Iphone (12)) purely for Maps but do i have to set up a Apple account (i don't want one) to use maps and maybe textx and calls, this ph will be my 2nd ph.
Hello thank you for this video. I tried it on my iPhone and it looks great so far,. I also tried to reproduce it on my MacKook but I failed on many aspects. Let say the "guide" I can record them on my iPhone but not on my Mac. Can you do an other video but for Mac users? I also wonder if I can create a list of places. Let say, I travel a lot and I wish to record the Reste area. hotels or campgrounds on my way to my destination. I can do that on google map but can I do that on Plan? thank you Allen
Long time apple user. Apple Maps may be ever so wonderful in the U.S. but it’s rubbish in Australia. It’s too basic, only provides speed limits occasionally and only when in navigation mode. My order of preference based on functionality is 1) Waze 2) Google Maps 3) Apple Maps Not everyone wants to get ideas for coffee shops etc, some of us want to use maps for navigation.
I have the Italian version of "Maps" but can generally follow what is going on in the English one. Still a bit confused about setting up a guide although I can study the video several times.
Thanks for this, as it’s perfect timing. I just deleted google from my phone, and will be using Apple now. I hope Apple doesn’t cave and rename Denali and Gulf of Mexico.
I had an issue going to Tampa towing an RV . We keep at least 2 maps going while towing. Apple Maps was showing us to go right but telling us to go left. We got into a pickle. This was around the time Apple was doing an undated. Could this been caused by the up date?
I mostly use Google Maps, because I miss satellite view and a speedometer, when navigating with Apple Maps. I also miss that you can contact Apple Maps, to inform for errors or ask a question.
How or when will Apple Maps display posted speed limits all the time and not only when following a route to a destination? Waze displays speed limits all the time.
I enjoyed the video. But nothing you mentioned in it is unique to Apple Maps. Pretty much everything you said is also available on Google Maps. Especially the stuff at the start about street view etc…because it is only an option because of Google taking all the pictures in the first place 🤷🏻👍🏻😉
There’s a few maps out there but when it comes to driving I’m on Waze,on foot I would use Apple Maps or Google maps.sorry but Waze offers something special
I want to use Apple Maps but I get so annoyed when I turn my screen off; because I do not need to see navigation for a while like on an interstate, but it wakes itself back up constantly. And when I stop for gas, you have to end navigation because it constantly wakes up on the lock screen while you walk around. I wish there was lock screen settings for more control. I use Google Maps because it doesn’t do that. Petty, I know.
Ive been using google for years and honestly it’s starting to piss me off with directions. There either to late on telling me where to turn or doesn’t say anything at all and im constantly looking at yhe map to make sure what street i need to make a turn on. I used apple maps the other day and i liked that it told me to go pass this light and immediately telling me my next turn.
It is such a shame that after watching this great UA-cam and being a cyclist there are no cycle routes in my area and no street view button. Does anyone know where I can find information on this being updated. I live in the North East of England.
2:22 - I love how everyone thinks the images are all from satellites just because they call it "satellite" view. In reality, most of what you see is just aerial photography.

“Street View”? Google are briefing their lawyers 😂 I thought it was “Look Around”. Pretty limited coverage though. In the UK only covers London and Edinburgh. Google on the other hand has about 98% off roads covered even tiny country lanes. Some of them even have eight or more different historical views. Apple Maps is great for some things but that isn’t one of them.
Execelent content, but it would be so much better if the iPhone screen had more prominent size and details rather than the presenter’s face as we can listen to his speech and don’t require his face to understand the content.

I’ve used Apple Maps for several years now but really liked an organized run through of the features. Definitely need to include find my car.
As always, very informative and presented beautifully!!! Thank you.
Excellent video tutorial. Thanks!
I usually prefer Google maps, but I going try Apple Maps more often, good to have a backup, and competition leads to better products.
3:11 I didn’t know there is Street View in Apple Maps!!! Thanks a lot sir for showing this. ❤
Mine either! Did you ever figure it out how you can get it?
Wow! I had no idea of all the cool features. Thanks!
Thank you for this excellent guide, Dylan.
I hope you are safe from the LA fires 🙏🏻.

I just got an iPhone 16 pro and Street view isnt an option, even when I hold the map?
Thanks Dylan I’ve been using Apple Maps for quite a time now, but with your guide and spoken in plain clear language I now know a lot more on how to get around Apple Maps quickly 👍😎
Very interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this excellent video. What I miss in Apple Maps compared to Google Maps is the support for electric vehicles in the sense of calculation and display of charging stops, etc.

Apple maps instructions are better and come at the right time. It makes driving more relaxed.
I must admit I have preferred Google maps and only used Apple Maps when using CarPlay. I had no idea the versatility of Apple Maps until I watched this video. You have converted me. This being January 2025, I hope you are safe from the California fires.
I've been a strictly Apple Maps user for a couple years now and I've had zero regrets. I don't even have Google Maps installed on my phone.
Same here I don’t have google maps on my iPhone
I did the same thing until I bought my new truck. It won’t display Apple Maps in the “speedometer” area where it’s most helpful. It just shows a paragraph of text telling you it can’t display Apple Maps. I have to use Google or the built in map system (TomTom) in order to get the map right in front of me where it’s most useful.
Great video, you have made Apple Maps even easier to use.
So well done and so useful....best I have seen...thanks!
Very good and I am so excited to start using all the features of Maps!
This was a great video! You are a great teacher!
Hi Prof. Dylan, enjoyed your presentation, excellent ❤
Thank you!!
Very Informative, thank you!
Hope you're not too badly affected by the LA fires 💪. Great video. I learned a lot, thanks.

Dylan this video was great!
I appreciate that! 😊 Thanks for watching! 📺
Great as always! Looks like you’re gonna hit 60,000!
Thanks for this! I have so many lists I use in Google Maps, i wonder if there’s a way to import them into Apple Maps. I’d like to move over to Apple Maps. I love learning this way
Some great tips there, thanks 😀
Great video! Learned so much 😊
Ive started using apple maps for navigation mainly for the always on feature with the latest pro phones. Gamechanger as you're driving. Other than that i mainly use google maps for traffic info as i still dont really trust apple traffic.
Q: like you can do in Google Maps, how do I create a customized route map in Apple Maps?
Great information
How would you use Apple Maps to plot a week long road trip? It seems as if you need to download many maps as you go or one big sized map. Thoughts?
HI Dylan, Good video
Great video, thank you, although I am a big TomTom fan, I will give it a try 🙂
Thanks.
Glad to help!
Great video, sadly, Indonesia does not have access to Apple Maps with traffic.
I am always impressed with how apple people are so upbeat about apple. Most of the features you spoke about are great but all are offer by other apps, often in a better fashion. Really awesome 😮
I have always used Google Maps and didn’t feel comfortable with Apple Maps. Because of your video I will try using Apple Maps in the future. Thanks
Is there a way that it can give directions through your headset or earbuds while talking on the phone or listening to music like Google maps and Waze? That’s why I don’t use it because of that.
The only bad part about it when you put the satellite, map & put the address the satellite map disappear and goes back to the original one
I mainly use Waze.. APple maps is getting better however still has a lot of map errors and not as real time as they claim
I hear you. I live in Los Angeles where traffic is a huge time stealer, so I use Waze whenever I want accurate traffic times. But the rest of the time, I've been very happy with Apple Maps.

Great video, 1st class ..
Hello
thank you for this video. I tried it on my iPhone and it looks great so far,. I also tried to reproduce it on my MacKook but I failed on many aspects. Let say the "guide" I can record them on my iPhone but not on my Mac. Can you do an other video but for Mac users?

EXCELLENT!!!!
Do you think apple maps will ever have the ability to route several stops like Roadrunner? And round trip guidance?
I’m surprised that you don’t have a clip about the iPhone files we need to know how to use it right if you can come up with one plz
Please advise on how use the Apple Maps navigation in Saudi Arabia!
Thanks
Does anyone know how to save a recent route? I kind of did my own thing and like it better than what was suggested
Long time apple user.
Apple Maps may be ever so wonderful in the U.S. but it’s rubbish in Australia.
It’s too basic, only provides speed limits occasionally and only when in navigation mode.

I have the Italian version of "Maps" but can generally follow what is going on in the English one. Still a bit confused about setting up a guide although I can study the video several times.
Apple Maps rocks
Q: like you can in Waze, how do I report "Construction" in Apple Maps to make as effective to others?
well done
Thanks for this, as it’s perfect timing. I just deleted google from my phone, and will be using Apple now. I hope Apple doesn’t cave and rename Denali and Gulf of Mexico.
I use google maps for information, apple maps for navigation 🤘🏾
Can you measure distance with it yet ?
no binocular symbal on iphone in uk
Unfortunately we don't have Street View in the UK. There is Look Around but that only works in a couple of cities.
I love Google maps. I wish Apple Maps would go away.
Daylan hi Dylan , is Apple Map as good in united kingdom as you are describing for USA.
I don’t have a street view option. Any suggestions.
How to make and keep the apple maps on the screen always traveling up on the screen for driving?
I had an issue going to Tampa towing an RV . We keep at least 2 maps going while towing. Apple Maps was showing us to go right but telling us to go left. We got into a pickle. This was around the time Apple was doing an undated. Could this been caused by the up date?

why isnˋt satellite view on Carplay? So I prefer Google maps with carplay.
Mine doesn't have street view. That's why I go to Google Maps for that. It also doesn't give truck routes.
😊 Thank you very much - only I do hope at least 50% of this are working in Europe as well. 😮😢
Why doesn't the turn by turn directions show up in apple play in my car?
I have no Find Nearby in my maps. I have search, Siri Suggestions, library, recents, guides.
I wish apple’s speed trap feature worked better. Just doesn’t seem to be as accurate as Waze in that regard.
I don't disagree at all.
I want to use Apple Maps but I get so annoyed when I turn my screen off; because I do not need to see navigation for a while like on an interstate, but it wakes itself back up constantly. Using google maps your send your location informations away to them

My iPhone 15 doesn’t have the binoculars
great tutorial, but i still prefer Google Maps in Indonesia.
I cannot use street view for nowhere in England, it's so bad
Why do my maps look so plain? I only see my favorite locations and library, but there are no photos or info about my city.
Tengo un iphone, y google maps en android esta infinitamente mejor optimizado en Android que en Iphone
It needs to show EV charging stations as well as Gas Stations.

Yeah, in the USA "Street View" only covers large cities too...LA, Dallas, etc. Useless, unless by chance you are in a large metropolitan area.
