House Estermont Of Greenstone while playing little role in the wars of house targaryen but do play a role in the main a song of ice and fire books thanks to there kinship with House Baratheon and thus making them kin to King Robert Baratheon. Despite the limited role during the Targaryen era it does not mean they did nothing, and certainly hosted targaryen and there dragons over the years.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

I know that Greenstone isn't supposed to be the best but I like to think that the Estermonts are low key rich and connected. I mean Tyrosh is right there maybe its not weird for Estermonts to go and make their fortune in the Disputed Lands

House Estermont, though one of the principal Noble House of the Stormlands, is describe as ruling an island that is "windswept, damp & poor ". Estermont island, however, is strategic, housing the Stormland's navy, thus giving their House prestige, having control over the Storm Lord's navy.

I believe so as well. They could be a “shy house”. As in, one that doesn’t flaunt their power, remaining outwardly humble, but are far stronger than most would realize at first glance. Much like turtles as a whole.
They could secretly have mass riches, secret weapons, or ancient knowledge, but prefer to hide their true strength until they absolutely need to.
Turtles are such an awesome idea for a house that I’d hope that they are at least hinted at having some kind of high, hidden capabilities.

I doubt that. The Estermonts were never described as having Dornish characteristics like olive skin or dark brown eyes. They are probably of Andal descent or a mix of First Men or Andal. Their sigil probably came from their ties to the sea, having calmer waters & housing the Stormlands' navy or their island being home to significant population of sea turtles.

The Golden company is in for a rude surprise when they realise that Stannis doens't care about his family if they betray him, and the Estermonts went over to Joffrey after the Blackwater. While there's still loyalists, it's up in the air if Stannis will care about the hostages.
As for Tommen, he's not going to be calling the shots, and the Tyrell/Reach majority isn't likely to bother with the Estermonts.
