    I used the Desktop Publisher when it first came out and kept up with everything until about version 6 and all the assorted software. I have moved to Linux and I would love to use this software on Linux.

      Hi @gammingtoch259, thank you for your question. There's lots of different ways you could do this but I think I would either, recommend creating a master page that contains a picture frame. Then create how ever many new page you'd like and apply that master page to your new pages. You can then place all your images into the picture frames on your document page. Alternatively you can use the Place Auto flow method. Create a picture frame on a single document page. Choose to place your images using the place image tool. Select all of the image in the place image panel and then click the first picture. The system will auto flow all of the image into new pages and picture frame until they all have a page and frame.
      Check out the Auto Flow tutorial, it may help. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the video, but I have a strange bug with Affinity Publisher which makes drag/drop functionality impossible. This only works as desired when creating the picture frame and dropping the first image. However, if I want to replace it by dragging another image on the top of it, the position and scale of the new image will be reset to some position near the left edge of the canvas (not the picture frame). Whatever scaling method is set in the picture frame properties will no longer apply, and the only thing I can do is to use that arrows+rotate interface to manually place the image in frame. This looks like a major oversight, is it possible that this is intended behavior? (I didn't even try "Replace Image" as using Open File dialog box is not an option for my workflow). Also, in Windows version, it sems to be impossible to find and open "Place Image" UI panel.

      Hi Dr Formalyst, Thanks for your comment. The Place Images panel will only ever appear if you import multiple images using the file place method (rather than drag drop) or if you hold the option key when dragging an image or multiple images into Publisher. Despite it being house temporarily in the left studio the 'Place Images' panel actually functions more like a temporary dialog than a panel.
      As for inserting a second image in a frame that already has an image in and the new image repositioning inside the frame but not always in view. It's a little finicky, it takes in to account your mouse position when initially importing the second image. Honestly I much prefer using the place image method rather than drag drop for this reason. That being said you should be able to go to your properties on the context tool bar and choose scale to to max/ min fit or select revert defaults (the cog above) which should reset the picture frame if needed.
      Alternatively you can expand the picture frame on the layers panel, select the image inside and manually reposition the image.
      I hope this helps, If you're still struggling I suggest posting on the Affinity forum. It should be easier to have a more detailed discussion over there.

      @@benjaminviney Thank you for your detailed response, I understand it much better now. BTW I think the revert to defaults after importing the second image does not work (I'm not at my computer now, but remember I tried). Also, taking into account mouse position when drag/drop image sounds more like a bug than a feature. I will probably take this to forum though... Thanks again! :)

    I don't understand how autoflow works, I drag and drop multiple images on to bunch of image frames and it places only one picture. And I holding the Option :(

    • @benjaminviney
      @benjaminviney 8 місяців тому

      Hi @AndreyNikiforovPhoto, Sorry to hear you struggling. We have a dedicated video on Auto flow in our 'Advanced' playlist that maybe helpful. I'll pop a link below.
      It may be easier than using the drag drop functionality to instead use the place image tool, found on the tools panel. Select the tool and locate your images from your file browser. Once located click open and they will appear in the place imaged panel found in the left hand studio. Make sure to select the all (or at least a range of images) by clicking the first image in the panel and then holding shift and clicking the last image in the panel. once the images have been selected you can then single click into a picture frame to flow the images into your document.
      Hope this helps.

    Very informative, thank you. I'm wondering if there is a quick way to replace - ideally even switch - a placed image into a new frame, if you misplaced it or want to change the order?

    • @benjaminviney
      @benjaminviney Рік тому +1

      Hi ToteZitrone, Thanks for your question. You can simply go to your layers panel, select the image layer itself not the frame, then drag that image layer over the new frame in the layers panel. Release your mouse over the layer when it turns blue and it will move that image into the new frame.
      Once moved if you can't see the image in the new frame then it maybe hiding out view. You can either use the Move tool to move the image back into view or reset the frame by going to the properties option on the context tool bar and choosing min or max fit.
      Hope that helps.

      Sounds like a UA-cam thing. The original video(s) look great IF you adjust your settings on the YT player to show a higher res version. Mine defaulted at 480p.

      Hi Ladd Biggs, All of our tutorial videos are recorded at 4K quality 60FPS. They should all be extremely high quality. @Macs Cooler is probably right, it's more likely your UA-cam settings have defaulted to 480p. Try going to the settings cog in UA-cam and and increasing the quality 2160P60 (4K).

      @@hannahbw3015 Hi Hannah, Thanks for your question.
      If you go to 'Window' instead of 'View', you can then scroll down to studio and reset, show or hide the left and right studios. Normally these are available in Publisher (The Publisher Persona) by default. So It may just be useful to reset your workspace back to default if you're just getting started.
      Hope this helps.

When I use the mouse cursor to move or expand any image or text, even to adjust the size, it keeps not responding or changing the command. It looks like a bug or something. Any suggestions?

      Use either the black arrow tool or the white arrow tool. They each do different things. Best tip is to learn their shortcut to switch between them fast

    • @benjaminviney
      @benjaminviney Рік тому

      Hi Fotografieuweroder4175, When selecting an image make sure you have the move tool selected ('V' on the keyboard). With that selected you should be able to select the frame by single clicking or the internal image by double clicking.
      There is also a feature called 'lock children', which should appear on your context tool bar when you have a picture frame selected. With lock children enabled whenever you select a picture frame it will only select/ move the frame. The content will instead stay in place, allowing you to adjust only the frame. I cover something similar in the transforming layers video, that may be useful to watch - ua-cam.com/video/Q6e8ZznjUU4/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps.
