A more 'real' puzzle game could be made out of this honestly, instead of mildly puzzly moments with cursed/game-resetting gotchas. However it certainly does appeal to the upkeep-enjoying and lookup-ing well.

Frankly it's only fun in the beginning.
It becomes tedious after the egg hatches and then completly unfun at the end because of RNG and not having prior knowledge of the rules.

@@rea9lizer if you use “Pepsi” you can also chain it with “iamloved” or “iceland” (if the country ends up being that), as well as capitalizing the P for Potassium, and the I for 1 and Iodine. Things have a lot of uses in this game

The most infuriating rule is the Paul chicken thing. I just can't seem to keep him alive
i had a run going for like 4 hours and i got to the last rule but had to give up, i even made an AHK script to keep Paul fed if i was afk (note: the game lies to you, Paul eats every 15 seconds aka 4 times per minute)
I thought I'd give him a supply while I looked for a video with the right length , stupid chicken ate them all at once and died.

When i saw this game in the making, i thought "man, icely should totally make a video on this" so that's really awesome
I played this with some friends the other night and after finally beating it, I later got bored and was able to find that given optimal luck, the shortest possible password was length 67.

I've made it up to Rule 35 so far. "The password must include the current time"... With the restrictions on password length being prime, password including the length of the password itself itself, and all digits adding to 25, I think the only options will be 101, 103 and *maybe* 107 if you get really lucky with the youtube url... I'll have to try again starting around 11:30 or midnight.
EDIT: altering my own system clock didn't work, I'm guessing it checks the time externally and independently so you can't cheat it.
I tried inputting the current time (in the hh:mm format) and the condition still wasn't fulfilled. I hope it's not a particular time zone or something

they didnt tell me i could do that till too late
i beat it with 101, i had to cheat a bit and changed my system time to 4:00 though (and yes, it works, you just need to set it to one minute earlier and wait for it to turn the time you need)
you can save space on the youtube url by removing the https and the www.
also, youtube links are A LOT shorter when you actually click on the video and copy from the url bar rather than copying the url via right click on the recommendation/however you find the video

In general you want as many lowercase in this game as possible, XXXV is best because it puts the minimum requirement on the elements of the periodic table, later on there is a colour which you can also refresh to get a good hex code for it with few to no numbers. Same for the UA-cam video, find one that has next to no numbers in its link and you can still put it in. Afterwards just get 2 letters that you don't use out (if you are using those letters, you will get an error and you might just lose this way). Use the strongmen emojis for windings as they read the same and they don't fail the antispam rule later on.
About 7 worms present doesn't overfeed Paul. Paul not starving is your primary concern as you continue with this game. I lost at the last rule, good luck!
Don't forget the UA-cam link can't have roman numerals in it except for "I"

Me and my friend were messing around on our schools computers (as you do) and we were playing the password game. I left the classroom for one second, and I came back to his dead face. He had watched his password that we worked so hard for burn right in front of his eyes.
Played this myself, you pretty much need to know all the rules in advance if you want any chance of winning since if you don't know all the rules then it's easy to accidentally do the earlier rules in a way that screws you over later.
Also not sure if you are aware but there are 35 rules in total. I have beaten all the rules myself but there is one more task you need to do after beating all the rules which I haven't beaten yet.
EDIT: as of 29/06/2023 11:00 PM BST I have successfully chosen a new password in 103 characters

(also i beat it without knowing the future rules in advance, except for the ones that i already did and failed due to paul being overfed and underfed once each)
I was so good at this and my goal was to use the least amount of characters possible and I put a lot of thought into it and think I was doing a really good job. Then I tried to put out the fire with water emojis. It didn’t work. Paul was slain. I literally rage quit

i got to paul, spent about 30 mintues trying to find a video of exact length 28:49, finally uploaded my own video, realised it was one second too short, halfway thru another video upload paul starved to death

minor issue with this strategy: you can't control your own url. there's a pretty good chance that you're gonna end up with something with like. X or L in the middle of it. and then you'll be screwed, because you can't reconcile that with the roman numerals. i got a slightly more palatable 26:16 (if it's not too high above a minute number, chances are you'll be able to find a timer video that has an outro of the correct length) but had to find 4 separate videos of that length to find one that didn't have an impossible-to-work-with roman numeral or too many high-numbered elements of the periodic table.

The geoguesser is easy to cheese if you copy a list of all the countries and put it in, and then narrow your selection by deleting half of it at a time to see if it's in one half or the other

When you went into the html to make it bold, it automatically appended the /b immediately… so the beginning of the block was which is why it didn’t make anything bold…

You sometimes use the phrase "spaghetti code" to mean bad or buggy code. But that's not what spaghetti code means.
It specifically means code that's difficult to work with because the execution flow jumps around a lot. So it feels like tangled spaghetti.
You shouldn't really call something spaghetti unless you've actually taken a look at the code. Code can be buggy and not spaghetti at all or extremely spaghetti but completely bug-free.

I played this game once.
I was in call with a couple of friends.
In short, we changed the room name to Room 101 as a reference to a certain book because of the suffering we entailed. We played for ~3 hours. Got to rule 33 before I fucked up.
I fed Paul ~540 times.

The developer of monkeytype actually nearly beat it, but its extremly luck based. The final question is to retype the whole password and you cannot copy and paste and you need to do it in under 60 seconds he failed at the final step (35) because you have to rewrite all the fonts and bolds and stuff
Yeah I overfed paul, so i tried feeding him slower and he got underfed, he seems to eat every 15 seconds but idk if that means i feed him every 15 or stick to 3 a min and that's just too aids at that point 😂
It was actually fun puzzles until Paul appeared. That, plus the UA-cam video fucking up like twelve different steps made it insufferable.

I made it to level 24, the youtube video one, and I tabbed out to go find a video, but when I eventually tabbed back in it was completely broken and I couldn't type anymore. My only complaint is how buggy it is.

@@breadmusic1 I had 2 lines of caterpillars there for him, and they were still there when I got back. I also didn't overfeed him, the first time I overfed him I gave him 3 lines of caterpillars, the second time I only did 2 lines and he was fine up until the whole thing bugged out.

yes, I have footage of playing it, I think it was a bad video, the game is just very bad at feedback due to censoring the entire potential answer and you don't know what caused it to fail and how the conditions actually work. I think it's overly luckbased, but it is clever the ways you can work around its restrictions and get parts of the password

Where does the Chess Battle Advance joke come from anyway? I watched the baba's dev chess game video named that, and searched the term up on google and UA-cam, and couldn't find it. I'm new to icely, but he's been making references to it heavily in the last two videos. Thank you very much.
To make it even more realistic they need to include forced security questions which can very easily be used to Social your account.
You know the kind: The forced questions which can very easily be figured out just by looking at the front page of your profile.
the trick is to treat them as additional passwords, expect it needs to be something you can actually say out loud.

Got as far as the password getting set on fire, deleted Paul by mistake.
The only reason I tried again was because when I reloaded the country was Australia which I guessed in only a handful of tries. Then Paul hatched and I overfed him.

I managed to get to rule 25 in this game, where I sacrificed Q and X. I realised I made a big mistake when I wrote "Qe5+", so I had no choice but to starve Paul... 😭
I gave up at rule 28. I refreshed the colors so many times, because it had to be a color whose hex code digits had a sum less than 2, due to the youtube video I've found. When I finally got such a color, the game didn't accept it as the right hex code. fml

A tip for the video rule: search the length it's asking on UA-cam (for example, 23m28s) and it almost always give you a video of that length.
