  • Kevin urges Clint to fight this, but Bo backs his brother up and says Clint will make the best decisions he can. Asa crashes the family meeting and demands to know why he wasn’t invited. Asa is angry that he was excluded, but no one wants to tell him what is wrong. He realizes they are keeping things from him because they’re worried his heart can’t take it. Clint and Renee take him out on the terrace, and Clint tells Asa what’s going on, while the rest of the family, still in the library, fret over whether Asa can handle the bad news. Andy returns from shopping with Mrs. Guthrie, exhausted, and wondering whether they can’t just tell her the truth. Andy doesn’t blame Hunter for disowning his family, commenting on how suffocating his mother is. She shows him the horrible dress Mrs. Guthrie made her buy. Hunter says his father will love it-there’s no way she won’t win over his parents and end up getting sucked back into the family. Kevin and Tina think they should keep trying to convince Clint to have the surgery, while Bo, Cord, and Viki believe Clint knows what’s best. Asa has a hard time accepting the news, but Larry examines him and says he should be OK. Tina and Cord apologize to Sondra for jumping to the wrong conclusion, and Tina extends that apology to Viki. Viki says it was an honest mistake, and she would likely have come to the same conclusion. Megan and Jake decide to postpone the wedding for a little while, feeling that now is not the time for festivities. Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie wait-impatiently-for Andy and Hunter to come down to dinner, as Wanda and Tony try hard to hold their tongues about the obnoxious guests. The “happy couple” finally emerges, though Andy has made some unapproved alterations to the dress her mother-in-law picked out. Andy keeps up the gold digger act. Hunter sees Julia and Al walk into the bar and worries their ruse may crumble. Moments after everyone leaves the family meeting, Clint collapses on the floor of the library. Viki finds him picking himself up a minute later, but Clint says he’s fine and tells her she doesn’t need to call Larry.
When Al greets Andy as “Aunt Andy,” Mrs. Guthrie is confused, but when Julia says she and Al have just returned from Statesville, the Guthries are much more preoccupied by the boy visiting his “real” mother in prison. Mr. Guthrie says Hunter shouldn’t have allowed himself to get involved in this lunacy, and the pair of them storm out. Andy thinks perhaps they went too far, and Hunter follows his parents out to make sure they aren’t too upset. Tony compliments Andy on her performance and wonders why she looks so blue. Cassie thanks Bo for the use of the Banner archives. She can sense something is wrong and Bo tells her about Clint’s prognosis. He apologizes for blurting that out, but she says he has nothing to be sorry for. Clint’s assistant interrupts to say Briggs is eager for him to approve the front page. Cassie offers to help. Julia fills Carlo in on the latest at the Buchanan mansion: She says DuAnn hasn’t hit her up for any more money. Carlo is disturbed to learn LeeAnn is staying in town; he is convinced he will have something to do with her in the future. Alone on the terrace, Clint pictures his family’s future without him. He worries Viki will spend the rest of her life mourning him rather than living. When he goes back inside, Clint tells Viki he’s come to a decision and wants her blessing. Clint says after speaking to Kevin and the others, he thinks he’d like to go ahead with the operation.
