I hope someone has had "The Talk” with Lizzy. About spinning machinery and long hair. Even a ponytail can wrap up on a drill bit or grinder wheel so instantaneously fast , she at BEST could be scalped to death before (if ever) the rapidly whirring machine comes to a stop. It’s terrifying to watch her in the shop with her hair not securely tied back. I keep wincing and telling my self she’s fine or this video wouldn’t be posted. All of your lives would be so horrifically changed from such a terrible thing. Ours too. Love, peace, and joy.

I was going to write something very similar to what Thomas and Robert here have stated, but they have said it all.
Lizzy and Matt this is no joke! Cover that hair up, remove all your finger/neck jewelry and any loose fitting clothing when in a machine shop area; missing fingers, arms, or scalp in no fun.

I too should have seen this as this happened to a surfer in wood shop class in Burbank, CA. He leaned in to check his work and the drill press pulled him in a scalped him sort of as it wrapped his shoulder length hair around the chuck. I don't remember see him past that so do not know the end of the story. Thanks to Thomas for bringing this up.

He WAS wearing eye protection at the time and came back a few weeks later to thank those who helped him. I think it is great the way Matt teaches Rudy and Lizzie both out on site and in the workshop by letting them figure things out themselves. You all should wear safety glasses when sanding and grinding. Lizzie could solve her hair problem by putting all her hair in the ponytail instead of off to one side then when she is working with machinery she could just tuck it inside her t-shirt. I would hate to see someone so pretty and so full of life get hurt but something that is easily avoidable. Keep the videos coming.

    That is most important.
One key thing I did see was safety glass use...when grinding, crap is going

About Matt's comment about how sharp the drill was or wasn't, as someone who sharpened cutting tools for the last nine years before retiring, I would say it was still in good enough shape to do what he was doing. My criteria, he was getting good even chips off both flutes and the holes looked fairly smooth considering the material. Could it look better, that goes without saying, but he wasn't/isn't building a rocket. As the saying goes, it was good enough for who it was for.

Rudy - great that you kept the name Gracie. From day one of watching this channel and knowing that you name all your vehicles, has made this channel more appealing.
All my vehicles are named. When I go register my vehicles, the lady who hands me my envelopes writes the name of my vehicles on the envelope.

These people are so damned young...Rudy having his 21st birthday? I married my 19 yo wife when I was 21, we spent 40 years together. I find it hard to believe I was ever that young.

Hard to believe aging happens in the blink of an eye. At 21 I had a 3yr old and an ex-husband. The kid turned 55 this year. The ex is now on marriage number 4 😂

This is going to be my FAVORITE series. I used to own an XJ. I miss it everyday. All of this modern tech and self driving takes the fun out of it. I still own a pretty raw/ analog sports car, but my daily is just to modern for me.
