Hi, I watched your video on the inlay and can see how Blender is useful for that but this example seems to be more complicated then FreeCAD. But it's nice to see what is out there and how to use it.
I find it complicated, too. Plus, it has some issues that makes it virtually unusable in this way for CNC, because you have to apply all transformations and modifiers before being able to make the G Code, otherwise it won't create any toolpath except the base box. But it was a test and it looks promising
Thank you! I like the style of your video: fast, many details and hints to problems. I stop or slow down the video 100 times for reproduce your steps, took me 7 til now, and not finished. In the moment I'm at 4:34 with the two construction lines to bring the clutch to 0/0. Cant bring it to work, no movement to 0/0 after "Force Update" of the Sketch. *Maybe you have still the Blender project and are able to upload somewhere?* I hate to have problems I can't solve .. And yes, Blender seems too complicated and buggy for CNC. But it was a very good start with Software for getting into the workflow. I will check FreeCAD next, then I can compare a little the look-and-feel. Only a small oneTime ThankYou was in my budget to send
Thank You! I'm glad you like the video. Unfortunately, I don't have the file anymore, but I will recreate it tonight and get back to you. Meanwhile, I would look for two things that might prevent moving the entire sketch: first, check that the two lines have a vertical or a horizontal constraint, depending on the line. Second, check for constraints that might be conflicting and prevent the movement, such another point set to fixed. A "Thank You" is a "Thank You", no matter which one, I am grateful and happy when people support me!
@@opensourcecnc Ah! Now I found it. I overheard the ".. make it vertical" for the construction line. But still it dont worked that the model moved to 0-0. Then I see the "Degree of freedom" in your video is "4", on my example it was "6". I compared all the Constraint symbols in your video with mine and saw, forgot to set the 4 arc 3-times equal! This changed my "Degree of freedom" also to "4". After adding the construction lines and did a refresh: - the sketch centered and got "Fully defined sketch" ! So for me, you dont need to create the sketch again. Thank you again for you response!
This is the video I was waiting for. I'm trying to get my workflow ironed out for my MPCNC. The resolution and large mouse pointer looks good on a phone screen, so thanks for that!

Thank you! I'm glad the video is helpful. And especially glad that struggling with that huge pointer made a difference :)
Do you think FreeCAD is the best free CAD software out there?
No. Just as with anything else
@@opensourcecnc but would you say FreeCAD is currently better than Blender 3d's CAD sketcher?
No. For some things FreeCAD is better, for others blender is better
Whats the one feature you think FreeCAD is much better than Blender CAD sketcher?
I can't name a feature out of an add-on/workbench. You have to take into account the package as a whole, depending on your intended purpose
