【PC98 Remix】 Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion | Touhou 11: SA (OPNA, PMD)

- Legitimate PC98 cover of Utsuho Reiuji's Stage 6 Final Boss theme "Solar Sect of Mystic Wisdom ~ Nuclear Fusion " from Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism, remade in PC-98 PMD MML for the YM2608 soundchip.
The image mockup in the video is created by myself. It follows the hardware/software limitations of the PC-9801, with 16 colours and a 12-bit colour depth.

I listened to the feedback I received last video, and created a more powerful lead instrument. This one takes up 2 FM channels, uses LFO pitch modulation and an SSG channel!
I also got in contact with PC98 music master ちぇあ, who gave advice on that video, saying the bass instrument needed more PC-98 vibes.
Credits to Williatico for the MIDI I used for reference while writing the MML.
Credits to Pigdevil2010 for cleaning up the image, since I stuffed it up with anti-aliasing.

didnt even use a tracker, i wrote it all in a text edito r manually then compiled it for the sound driver to play

What Touhou song should I try next in PC-98 form? Preferably ones that haven't been done before / are just bad soundfont covers?
Maybe Illusionary Shamisen Recital, the only one I saw was more NES style and didn't really had enough "power" to it compared to the real theme.
I think any LoLK track would sound fantastic with a PC-98 arrangements. I'd vote for "The Lake Reflects the Cleansed Moonlight", mainly because it is my favourite from the game. Otherwise perhaps "Eternal Spring Dream".
ShinkoNet maybe, you could cover one of the tracks from some of the music CDs. I'm pretty sure there's very few around. maybe Greenwich in the sky, although there's a lot of good stuff across them all
The Lost Emotion? Idk if that'd work as a PC-98 song though.

i think a good explanation would be that yukari gapped her there, sealing her in the blazing hell, she died after okuu exploded her (after the final attack, there's an unaviodable barrage of bullets, gettin hit even once gets you to the standard ending, (its around the scale of gengetsu rape time), if you DO survive this (read: your'e jaimers91), you get a hidden ending where mima destroys the blazing hell)
this is the explanation to where mima went, yukari gapped her to the blazing hell, where okuu nuked her

Another Ending is called Reunion Ending, Possibly Reimu and Marisa meeting mima after how many games have passed
How to unlock said ending
Complete Hard Difficulty when playing as Yumemi Okazaki
Option: Mima spirit showers are diagonal or Cross Type
Remote Spirit Strike: Strawberry Bomb (A Fusion of Dream Bomb and Strawberry Cross)
Support Skill: Auto-bomb once hit.

mima is unknowingly follows the same path as reimu and marisa, she's just behind them
the game has PC98 like combat (with SA like options and bombs), and visble hitbox is enabled under certain conditions (explanation: mima does not know these are spell cards, she sees them as classic boss phases), shot type is cutomizable like this:
you can choose your unfocused shot, focused shot, bomb and spirit ability:
shot choices are:
power type (non-pierce, forward focus shot, the strongest in terms of DPS)
laser type (piercing lasers, a bit weaker than power type, but pierce enemies)
homing type (homing shot, weak, but guarenttes you hit your enemies)
wide type (spread shot, weak at range, even stronger than power type at point blank)
you choose one of these as unfocused and one as focused
bomb choice:
focus type: a master spark-ish beam, mima was marisa's mentor, after all
tracking type: similar to fantasy seal
cover type: weak, screenclearing bomb (like sanae's bomb from LoLK) (deals abysmally low damage, some tough enemies maight survive he bomb, but really long invinibility time)
shield type: a triple shield, like reisen's bomb
spirit ability: (choose one)
1. no ability (no gimmick, 1.5 scoring multiplier
2. visible hitbox (makes your hitbox visible when focusing, 0.75 scoring multiplier)
3. autocollect (like ReimuB's ability, 1.0 scoring multiplier)
4. extra bomb (power stacks up to 5, even though it maxes at 4, granting a free bomb like in MoF, 0.8 scoring multiplier)
5. bigger grazebox (0.9 non-grazing score multipler, grazing unaffected)
6. rank accelerator (you gain rank much faster, maing everything genrally harder, especially if you no-hit things, 2.0 score multiplier)
okuu's final is inabachi-tier difficult, yet it is doable (if your'e jaimers91, of course)
the EX stage is yukari (explaiing you she gapped you away, you, as mima, confront her)
the phantasm stage is reimu & marisa, ( reunion ending is required to unlock phantasm)
you'll need to survive okuu's final in order to unlock reunion ending

I'm pretty sure the opening notes of Nuclear Fusion were taken directly from the opening notes of Strawberry Crisis
I always thought there was a link between the two but always brushed it off thinking it was a stupid idea
Link between the characters? There probably isn't since Okuu got her power from eating Lord Yatagarasu's corpse she found out about from Kanako and before that she was Satori's pet so not much room for a shared backstory there. That said I think a possible reason for the similar opening notes is that Okuu's power over nuclear reactions is scientific in nature and Yumemi is a scientist... I'd imagine if Yumemi got involved into SA somehow she might want to capture Okuu for live experimentation
