    Also David doesn't invent the xenomorph, he follows the blueprints provided by the engineers. Look at the xenomorph monument in Prometheus - it already exists long before David.

      I think there's different ways to interpret it. The monument in prometheus could be a design on something the engineers are striving to create and david ends up perfecting it essentially creating the first perfect organism.
      Tbf I've always looked at the monument scene as a sort of a tip of the hat to the audience as if to say "hey look we're in the world of ALIEN"
      But I'm always up for hearing different perspectives from fans, that's the beauty of these movies 😁

      @Paul_Tambs it's actaully evident this is what it's about. The engineers create loads of life forms and use a bio weapon(genetic accelerator/black goo) to reconstruct DNA and inevitably turn them into monsters and then eventually xenomorphs. They wouldnt have a mural for no reason.
      If you look at deleted scenes David has works from the engineers that he's using to create them.

      @abrimfulofasha Ridley needs to stop deleting these crucial scenes 😅
      I'm aware the engineers are creating bio weapons and virus's but it comes across in the movie to me that David is the one that perfects it creating the perfect organism.

      @Paul_Tambs he does, and I see why people get mistaken, dude. You can find a David log here on UA-cam that gives some further detail. Yes, he tried to perfect them in his way, which means only his way. Engineers perfected them in their own way. It's like opinions, basically. David thinks he's right in how he's making them, but at the same time stealing the idea from a race that perfected them many centuries ago and way before his time. David just wants to mold them to his image.

    I agree that Covenant is the more vicious, more kinetic, and overall the better film compared to Prometheus. HOWEVER, the most memorable parts of Covenant are when it is continuing the storyline and questions that Prometheus had raised. Prometheus was BOLD but not nearly enough to answer its own questions. Covenant answered them and whether you were satisfied or not, we appreciate when such big risks are taken in Hollywood films and in the horror genre. PLUS, Michael Fassbender’s relaxed accent he gives the updated David is SO JOYOUS to the ears.

      @skeletalsounds_ 100% I think the first 3/4 of this movie work the best when they are continuing with stuff from Prometheus. That 3rd act does feel abit tacked on though,almost like the studio said "we need to get a xenomorph in here somewhere".
      Cheers for checking out the video and commenting 👍

    By the way, a big plot problem. I feel like the movie didn't address is okay. They're supposed to be a bunch of colonists right. They get to a planet that's inhabitable enough for when they have a ton of these human embryos. But there's like 6 or 12 crew members. Like are they going to raise all of these hundreds of children? Make sense if there was more crew member humans or it was shown that there was like a fleet of David like Androids that would take care of these kids, but that like doesn't exist. Also with that small of a population size they would be tons of inbreeding eventually. In my head canon and what would make sense for me is if this was displayed as like a crazy religious group and basically this wouldn't have succeeded anyhow. They were just nuts but the movie never clarifies that and wants us to root for these characters so I don't know. That's just always bugged me.

      I've never thought of it like that 😅...I suppose in the future. Colonising is abit faster and so the embryos will grow fast?...maybe? That's a good point though

    I enjoy Alien: Covenant in an uncomplicated, 6.5/10 way, but it's not really an Alien movie. It's a Prometheus sequel that Fox decided should rebrand to Alien based on name recognition. And it totally backfired. Turns out people expect an Alien movie when you call your movie Alien. Sure, there was a Xenomorph in it (or Praetomorph, if you have no friends like me) but it never felt like an Alien film. It felt like a Prometheus film that had an xeno in it. I personally loved Prometheus and thought it's worldbuilding was compelling enough to stand on it's own. It's a shame Fox didn't feel the same way about it.

      @BleachBath-fr8ps 100% agree. You can tell they added in the xenomorph part to appease to vocal fans. I came around to Prometheus as its own thing eventually and I do really enjoy the first 3/4 of Covenant but yeah that 3rd act was abit...meh

    When you see what Fede is doing with the Xenomorph's now... I look back at this with even more disgust when it comes to the look of the Xenomorph in this... the CGI man. That shot of it running after them out of the colsium.. ooff. Love the first half of this film, its got some good ideas, I don't totally hate that it was an android that created the Xenomorph.. it's almost ironic that it was one of Weylands own creations that made the creature. Awesome stuff as always Paul, and you SOUND great 👌

    • @Paul_Tambs
      @Paul_Tambs  Місяць тому

      Yeah that's a cool way of looking at it that weylands creation is responsible for the creation of the Alien. I just can't compute it in my head haha. I like the idea that they are just a dangerous extraterrestrial out there.
      Cheers man always appreciate the feedback

    It's ironic people bash the Covenant crew while.. we have the Prometheus crew out there, lol..
    Covenant feels like a film that's just there to show off new alien concepts, their origins and how uncalculated they were before being perfected. Loved how david noticed the Engineers reverending the xenomorph species in their ship and decided to recreate them in the image of the mural they found.
    Overall it's a decent movie and i feel like it could be boosted with the last film of the prequel trilogy if it's done right, the score for the film is amazing, the characters could have been written better but honestly we're all here for the aliens murdering people so i guess we can let that off the hook
    if alien awakening ever happens im seriously rooting for Daniels to survive and become a modern final girl

    • @Paul_Tambs
      @Paul_Tambs  Місяць тому +1

      @hknil8966 it really did need that 3rd film. It's a shame we won't see how it all concludes and wraps up. With the 3rd movie leading into the original 1979 movie, it could of been a good series of prequel movies but like I say in the video it leave me with more questions than answers.
      Cheers for the comment 👍

      I think the biggest problem is that would Prometheus we were mad at following a group of idiots so is more frustrating that in the sequel they decided to not change anything and double down on having a group of idiots. Basically like a oh damn not again sort of thing like when you're mad at transformers movies because there's some racist character chairs. So then the sequel they triple down by having more blatantly racist characters and you're just like face palming and it hurts.

    These prequel films are really about David and Walter - the AI elements. In that respect they're deeply underrated. I want to know more about David arch.

      I do think they are underrated and some fans are far to harsh on them. I revist them quite often tbf but I do have problems with them when it comes to the story.

    I found the whole 3rd act to be really weak - the final Xeno looked the least scary of any in any of the films. The final few minutes were greatly dark though.

    • @Paul_Tambs
      @Paul_Tambs  Місяць тому

      @mixministermike as much as I do have a few problems with the 3rd act, it did end on a dark tone and I would still be interested in what Ridley had planned next had they not pulled the plug on the 3rd movie.
