I visited Barbados for the first time in January. My brother and his wife have gone to the island every year for 22 years. I fell in love with the people and the place. Welches was no beach back in the late 70's. Water used to come on to the road there. Same with "Sandy Beach" opposite 6 Mix. There was a guest house torn down in the last 5 to 6 years called "Rydal Waters". The water used to come right up where the wooden platform is with the kiosks now. Natire gives and nature reclaims.
Yes you are correct, all of that was explained in the vlogs, nature will always win.

@@bajanwarrior I've been to Barbados 3 times in the last 5 years. My grandparents (Holder/Bradshaw/Sargeants) were born in St Michael and St Joseph. I was unable to visit the Department of Archives building due to the fire so I hope to be back soon.

Nothing was ever my fault, I make sport on our vlogs, blaming my wife and others, but everyone knows that's for fun. The truth is, I was the problem. 🤣 my navel string and the navel strings of all of my fathers blood line are buried right here. The accent that you refer to is one that was acquired to communicate better with the visitors that I provided services to for over 45 years in the hospitality industry. Maybe there should be some community organizations to help clean up the damage beaches and surroundings of Oistins and other areas. The Goodness of God protected our Beautiful Barbados 🇧🇧 from devastation.
There are quite a few community based and government groups that do these tasks, however the amount of damage will take time to clear. Many of the areas that we vlogged today and along the south & west coast were impassible yesterday. I believe everyone is still a little shell shocked after yesterdays events, I am confident that we will see these groups out and about in the days to come. The only way to get through this is to do it together

Just under two months ago, Prime Minister Mottley and the people of Barbados very warmly welcomed "home" 400 Liberian-Barbadians in the first-ever Sankofa Pilgrimage by descendants of the 346 Basrbadians who left for Liberia in 1865. On their behalf, I am sending love to all the people and offering prayers to our God for a swift and total recovery. All the Caribbean islands are also in our prayers.

Thank God the damage was done to property damage was not devastating. It appears that makeshift buildings, bars, boats, and other items which was not secured felt the impact. Prayers to those who felt the lost of this hurricane 🙏🏽
Sadly all of the boats at the Bridgetown fisheries complex were tide well, but the sheer power of the swells literally stacked and destroyed them...a huge loss to our fishing industry

Reclaimed land there in Oistins??? There were once houses, the Oistins police station, a Salvation Army place of worship, Brankers hardware all on that side of the street, before Oistins Bay gardens!!
Janice, let me correct you on this. ALL of where the Bay Garden is was water and on what is now claimed land, the buildings that you are referring to, the Alms House etc., were by what is now the bus terminal...there were also private homes on the waterside and a shop opposite where "The Boat" restaurant is, these started opposite Hills Supermarket (now Chefette) and they stopped before you go to what was super centre.
