  • Today we left Kuala Lumpur bound for Georgetown, Penang. It was meant to be a simple metro train to the bus station, however we got talking to a fellow traveller and accidentally got on the wrong train! Before we left Australia we had visions of us running around Asia with our backpacks on…well today was the day that happened!
Once in Georgetown it was a lovely walk from the ferry port to our accommodation in China Town. Penang is well known for its street art and food - all of which was out in full force the moment we stepped the boat!
We’re also very grateful that our travel days have been dry days, because it’s the end of the wet season here and when it rains, boy, IT RAINS!

We said goodbye to our jobs, sold all our belongings, and left Australia on a one-way ticket to Shanghai with just each other and our backpacks! We plan to travel the world for a year, see as much as possible, meet as many people as we can, and most importantly MAKE OUR MONEY LAST!
When we left Australia we decided to make travel vlogs to share our journey with our friends and family back home. We also love watching other travel vloggers on UA-cam, in particular Kara and Nate, The Endless Adventure, Way Away, and Flying The Nest.

I was completely worn out by the time toy sorted the accomm out. Then came the highlight of the day - the Indian food- and I was ready to start the day again,
    Wonderful.!!

I guess you guys are getting closer and closer to Adelaide. The signs are just reminding you of home.

You happened to take one of the buses that stopped at the Butterworth bus terminal which is close to the ferry terminal for crossing over to Georgetown in Penang island. There are other buses that will bring you direct to Georgetown through one of the two bridges, and hence no need for the ferry.

Hey! Thanks for the tip, we wanted to go to Georgetown though so our route seemed best. Plus we are those strange people that enjoy ferries and making the most of a travel day 🙃

We loved the street Satay but the Indian food is good also. How is the clothes shopping going like the new top.

Oh no, its more convenient to take the KLIA Transit from KL Sentral to Bandar Tasik Selatan at 6.50 MYR.

We had considered this option but don't think it still operates. Our route would have been easy and quick if it wasn't for one simple mistake - we didnt realise each platform has multiple lines.
