A Nature of fragile things by Susan Meissner is my favorite!
I’m really intrigued by The Blood of Stars, Enhanced, and The Chaos Grid now-so glad you enjoyed all those! And good luck with moving! 👍
Me, too... sadly my library doesn't have any of them....yet.
Lol, I love the cite kitty picture when Tolkien meows❤
Aw I have spin the dawn. So I hope I feel differently because I was really excited for it. But 🤭 we'll see.
My favorite April read was the audiobook of The Housekeeper and The Professor. Very slooooow. 😅 But I looooved it! 😭🥲😍
I so love/ appreciate your book reviews!! I trust your judgement… our values are very similar…. So that way, I feel comfortable trying new books/genres. So far, all that I’ve read based on your recommendations have been 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for me!👍
Yay, I'm glad to help out!
So many of these books sound really good! I haven't been reading much scifi lately, so Enhanced and The Chaos Grid really stood out.
I didn't have any 5-star reads in April, but one I really enjoyed was Counting the Cost by Jill Duggar in which she talks about her time on TV and in a home that follows the IBLP cult-like organization.
Ooh, I've seen the cover for that Jill Duggar book and I'm intrigued by her story for sure.
@@ChantelReadsAllDay It seems like a book you would like since you have an interest in books about cults
I'm just impressed you read That much with all you have going on!❤
The meows. 😍 🤣
I DNF'd All the Lost Places because I couldn't get into the story. I read "Anne of Green Gables" for the first time and fell in LOVE! Now I want to read all the books!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggled with All the Lost Places. And yay for Anne of Green Gables!!!
I loved All The Lost Places, I definitely recommend continuing it!
My top 3 favorite reads of April were:
1. "Children of Dune" by Frank Herbert
2. "Modern Miss Mason" by Leah Boden
(I want to own this one, soon)
3. "Shakespeare's Secret" by Elise Broach
(Excellent middle grade mystery and bit of historical fiction, too. Found it in a LFL and I loved it and passed it on to my 11 year old daughter and she loved it - so definitely recommend it!)
My April reading was pretty good, all 4-5 stars:
-How to Solve Your Own Murder
-A Bound Heart
-The Outsiders
-Everyone is Beautiful
-The Divine Proverb of Streusel
-The Foxhole Victory Tour
-Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers
That sounds like a great month!
Good to know about Spin the Dawn! 😖 MEOW 😻
My favorite Susan Meissner book is The Shape of Mercy. That’s actually one of my all time favorites. I also loved Only the Beautiful
I have the shape of mercy and I am scared to read it. I am afraid the content will be too tough for me
Ooh, I don't own either of those by her!
I am part of an Acts 29 church and I bet one of my pastors was at that conference 😂. So cool! Always love your content.
That's so awesome, there were people from all over the world there!
So funny, but I was happy to hear that the book The Chaos Grid Was a stand alone! Sometimes series are just too much for me. I really loved the Last Year of the War. It is sad that so many families were affected like this by being sent to the camps. Susan Meissner is one of my favorite authors!!
Same! I prefer standalones!!! No pressure or stress to read more. No cliff hangers. No disappointment in sequels! Quit while you're ahead😂
Amen to all of that!!!@@Writing4Jesus247
Totally understandable, I often like standalones too, but this time I just wanted to spend more time with the characters.
Enhanced sounds really good!
It is!
I LOVE The Secrets of Ormdale series. I found it from your channel, so thank you!
It's been so fun, glad you've been enjoying it too!
There was a typo on the original info about Secrets of Ormdale #4! I thought it was coming out in 2025! 😅But it’s July 2024! I’ve read the first three. Love Edith!
Yay for that kind of typo!
I read The Green Ember in April and loved it! I think it's my current favorite of the year!
It's one of my daughter's favorites too! I just couldn't get into it, I'm not animals as characters in books unless it's children's picture books.
I highly recommend A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner
I'll keep my eye out for that one, thanks!
Enhanced is on my radar. I'm considering listening to it on audio.
Can't wait to hear what you think!
Oh Susan Meissner books that I gave 5 stars. The Nature of Fragile Things and Only The Beautiful. I need to read another of her books this year. I have one on my shelves called The Girl in the Glass that I need to get to.
I read Night Falls on Predicament Avenue by Jamie Jo Wright. Another 5 star book by Jamie for me!!!📚🇱🇷💜
Best wishes with your reading choices. I hope you get some great stories. Taking more than a month to read one. Currently at page 883 of the Count of Monte Cristo. Still got some way to go. Happy reading.
Ooh, Monte Cristo is on my someday list, that's a big one!
In April I read 12 books 4,375 pages, I've been slumpy so I lost enjoyment from the good ones and the less good ones were a chore to finish
My 3 faves were
-Godzilla x Kong by Greg Keyes (movie novelization)
-The Hidden Guardian by J.D.L Rosell (over 700 pages and made me cry)
-The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston (great romance that wasn't clean but minimally spicy)
I made a homemade trillogy that was interesting
-My Friend Natalia by Laura Lindstedt
-New Animal by Ella Baxter
-Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder
I read Bones by K.L Speer which sounds a bit like Chaos Grid, Bones was pretty good but had an unnecessary romance plot that drug it down a bit.
Ps I read and liked The Secret Garden, was I mistaken that that was a book club book here?
❤📚📚❤️
Im in Edmonton!!
Did you stop at all the bookstores while in the states? I know you talk about the shipping being a challenge. I think I would have been tempted!
I went to Half Price Books and didn't buy anything! 😱
@@ChantelReadsAllDay you are kidding me!!!!!!!! I thought for sure you would try getting something minus the lousy shipping fees while you were in the states!!!!
@@krisfasse1183 nothing jumped out at me, surprising no one more than me!
@@ChantelReadsAllDay I guess it's just a season. I am sure once you get moved your desire for new books will be right back at it!
I gave All the Lost Places five stars, but I seem to be in the minority. I loved Kingdom of Ruins by D C Marino and The Lizard Garden by Anne E Phillips. I also enjoyed Wormwood Abbey. I still need to read Drake Hall. I think all of the books are supposed to be out by the end of the year.
Oh man, now you make me pause and wonder if I should give All the Lost Places another chance . . .
@ChantelReadsAllDay it really picked up for me once the 1904 guy met the woman from the train station again at the bookshop.
@@ashleamarshall9370 we had just met her the first time when I gave up, I was wondering if she'd add more to it, I'll have to try again.
Have you read A Good Girls Guide to Murder? I‘ve never read it before but I’m curious if you have
I started it and then DNFed it but skipped to the end to see how it ended. 😜
@@ChantelReadsAllDay Sounds like something I would do😂 Thank you!
I couldn't get into All the Lost Places either!
I recently read The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner and that one was quite good
Well if Anne couldn't get into it then I feel justified for quitting it.
Where are you moving to? 🐶
Edmonton!
