My older brother had the red 1957 Ford Fairlane convertible, and I was about 13-15 yrs old (1966-1968) in Vancouver, and still remember that whole top being SWALLOWED by the trunk! Maybe that experience influenced me, bc I owned 3-4 different classic rag-tops over the years!
Lou, this is a nice car. Dennis is a classy man. Both of you inspire me with these cars yet, they're still worth money today. I've always liked classics. Better than today's cars!!!
Lou..Dennis seems to have all the toys a 'boy' could ever want! He must own an airplane hanger to store them all! Another beauty..59. Ford Fairlane conv..another gem!
Wow I just knew this was Dennis's car when i first saw the picture of it. I just love the two tone blue colors on this car as to me it is a very refreshing and cool color for summer. The options on this car would be just like I would have ordered it new. That top is so very interesting to watch. There are so many seals and gears and struts that run that thing it is amazing. I love to hear Dennis talk about each one of his cars and his knowledge of each car as he gets so excited to tell us what he knows and I love it. What a great ride along Lou I really enjoyed this and Dennis too!
Hi Steve, I agree, the two tone blue is great :-) You're right, when the top goes up or down, it's interesting and you have to watch. Glad to read you enjoy this ride along, Lou

Hi Lou! Early 59 Skykiners were Fairlane 500s, but when the Galaxie was introduced in mid-year, all subsequent Skyliners wore "Galaxie" nameplates on their rear fenders
I owned a 1957 Ford Skyliner when I was in High School 1970- 1973, keeping it for about 15 years and selling it to a man in Berkeley, CA around 1985. It had a custom installed Ford 390 with a 4 Speed on the floor, American 5 Spoke Mag Wheels, Black Sidewall Exhaust under the Doors, painted White. It originally had a 292CI with a 3 Speed on the Column. I hand washed and waxed it so many times. Lots of large flat body panels. I rarely lowered the Top because I was afraid it would get stuck in the down position and I didn't have a Garage. Now I'm 65 but the memories still remain. I thought the 1957 was the best looking of the 3 year design. The 58 and 59 kept adding more exterior trim, 4 headlights and they looked overdone.

Great color on this car....it's almost as if they knew the 50's were ending and this was one last colorful Hurrah! Wow, we sure learned a lot in this video about the different models that were introduced in 1959 from Fairlanes to Fairlane 500's and the ultimate Galaxie! What a beautiful automobile...and remember, this was in the low-priced three! I know what he means about the seat covers with the bumps...I can't remember who.but someone in a car I used to ride in, had the seat covers with the bumps!!! I haven't thought about that in years! A one year only vehicle! So different in 1960! Beautiful...simply beautiful.
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read you learned a lot too. I'm learning all the time from the Caretakers and I find that to be so much fun, Lou
What a beauty and this owner is auto blessed! When the Skyliners debuted in 1957, Ford engineers claimed the electrical relays and motors in the trunk which operated the top, we’re the most sophisticated in the world up to that time. Cost and lack of trunk space doomed the Skyliners after three years.
Nice Lou. One of my father's friends had a '58 Skyliner and I always was amazed as a kid watching the top open and close. They really are a marvel of mechanical engineering, considering they don't run off of a microprocessor like today's cars.

@18:13 - So nice to see "Made in USA" instead what we see on everything made today! (Edit: On the body plate, that is.) That's a beaut! Always nice to see cars from Mr. Roxbury's collection.
Lou, as always a great feature. Of course all things being subjective - I feel Ford has offered up some of the downright homeliest AND most beautiful cars ever. This land yacht is the former (imho).... Ford just couldn't get out of Edsel mode and this is a prime example. My dad had a '60 Sunliner and ohhhhh...what a difference a year makes. As in "All Things Great and Small" you show things objectively. A virtue for sure as I wouldn't walk across the street to look at this cluster...keep up the good work!
Hi Audie, Happy to read this one brings back memories of Dad's 1960 Sunliner too :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and I appreciate the encouragement, Lou
Can't stop smiling at this one, Lou!! Dennis found a gem for sure! It never ceases to amaze me watching the retractable hard-top in motion, up and down!!. An engineering marvel for sure! A big thank you from this Ford guy! The brochure story with the marriage of the Fairlane's and the introduction of the Galaxie's was something I had never heard of! Can't get enough of Ford's history!
Hi George S, Happy to read you enjoy this "gem" :-) I agree, these tops in motion are an engineering marvel. My pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Hahaha, even Mr. Roxworthy's 'new' car is a classic! Just one look at that paint color and it's easy to see why this one found a new home in his collection. The interior is impeccable too, especially for a convertible. It's always a treat when you two gentlemen get together. Thanks, Lou!
Haha. Wow! The grille, bumper guards, spotlight mirrors, two tone paint and interior, rocket back end. Great brochures too.❤️the 50’s! Happy days! TY Lou and Dennis.👏

What a beauty! I always was fascinated by the 1959 Ford Galaxie retractable roof car. I heard that once the mechanism started to fail, that retractable roof became a serious nightmare.

4 locations on the Roof and 2 locations on the Trunk Lid were 3 inch long Worm Drive Screws that secured the moving Roof to the Body. You pulled the button to lower the Top and pushed it to raise the Top.
Lou when I was a kid my neighbors were Italian they had a 59 galaxy 500 hard top it was two tone black and burgundy candy apple rad with crager rims that had the gold centers and a nice rumble always wondered what ever happened to that car was beautiful
It would be impossible to find a nicer example or a better equipped one. Just amazing and what a great color combo. So rare To see factory air conditioning! Love it!
Even items that are functional like the spotlight or the A/C are sculptured art pieces! So many little details too; glad Dennis and others are preserving them!🙏🇺🇸
Thanks Dennis and Lou! Very nice Ford - and I agree with the other commenters, wonderful colour combo. Stunning car with tremendous attention to detail.
I was 5 when we went to get our new ’59 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Dr., in light blue and zero options, not even a radio. No automatic, power steering or brakes. We kept it till 1965, when we got a fairlane, but it was an intermediate size car. It too was stripped. My dad didn’t believe in luxuries.

Denis is so excited about this car!!! I don't blame him, Compared to other vid's Lou's brought, of Denis's collection, I doubt there's one that has his tone of voice as excited as a 16 year old with his first car. Proof cars keep folks young.

Wonderful video of a gorgeous car, fully optioned with amazing retractable roof working beautifully. Quite a wow! There was a farmer's wife living down the street at the edge of our town who had a 59 Ford Fairlane back in the early 60's and every time she drove past taking her kids to school or just to go shopping I would stop and watch her car glide effortlessly past. And being in Australia and having a father who was a BMC car salesman he bought me a 1959 Wolseley and it also had the same two tone blue colour combination. Thanks for posting Lou.
Hi Train Lord, Happy to receive "Quite a wow!". Happy to read this car brings back memories of the Farmers Wife's car and your car too :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
One of my dad's used cars when I was a kid was a '58 hardtop that had the 352 and clear plastic seat covers. He liked to say it could pass anything except a gas pump. 😁
Wow! I do believe you have found the accomplishment of video perfection! Stunning car, greatest trunk treats, fantastic conversation with Dennis! I could honestly say this show was scored 10 on a scale of 1-10! Thank you, Lou!

The torture continues without mercy.... And Lou just goes on his little dalliances that shred the souls of us weak, nostalgic fools with memories of bygone days....💔
Talk about how times have changed. I have a Ford brochure that's all packed up, so I can't put my hands on it now. I don't recall the model but it is from the late '50/early '60s. In describing the comfort of the car's front seats, the brochure says (almost verbatim): "No matter how thin or fat you are, the comfort of...." Imagine that!
Hi, Lou! Boy, can Dennis pick 'em or what! My hat is off to him! He just seems to have such an amazing knack for finding those extra special classics to add to his already fascinating collection! If you'll pardon the pun, this has to be one of the best cars in the Galaxie (even though it's not a Galaxie)! It's just got everything...even luggage! This was the last of the three years for the retractable. The car itself wasn't entirely practical since you couldn't carry much in the trunk, and the next year's redesign wouldn't have lent itself well to the idea, because its trunk lid was too narrow. But be that as it may, it is fun to watch how the whole mechanism works. If Dennis comes up with any more acquisitions you can be sure it will be newsworthy for a future "My Car Story". Thanks again to you and him for taking us along for the ride!
Hi iswc27, I agree, Dennis has a great collection of cars, and this one fits in perfect with his other amazing Fords, and this one does have everything. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and glad to share the ride on this one with you, you're welcome, Lou
What a beauty! I like the way you give a presentation that gives everyone a chance to view the cars close up and personal. Such rare classics. Thanks Lou! Do you ever come to Atlanta Georgis for any of the car shows down here?
Hi Wiiam, I have not been to Atlanta yet. Usually is there is a Car Show Promotor they would Sponsor me (Hotel, Air Fare, Car Rental if needed), or I'd be there possibly in my travels, however I do not have a scheduled trip there. Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car. Appreciate the kind words on the presentation, and glad to read what you enjoy seeing. You're welcome, Lou
Excellent video Lou! The ‘59, ‘64 and 65-66 Ford Galaxy’s are my favorite Ford vehicles. The steering wheel of this ‘59 Ford is very large compared today’s vehicles!
hi lou, i used to go by "mouse", but have changed identities lol, BUT...that hasn't changed my love for the classics you bring to us all the time! yet, another awesome classic! awesome 2 tone blue, keep 'em coming!! thanx!
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the episodes with Dennis :-) High praise for the looks of this car. My pleasure sharing this car with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Hi Dennis, i have a. 59 Skyliner also here , mine is surf blue on the bottom and colonial white on the roof , though the original paint was wedgewood blue roof and body , enjoy your classic , regards Tom
Wow... That's the most optioned-out Retrac I think I've ever seen! And thankfully, it ain't red and white🙄 Seems like ALL of them somehow ended up that way. I'm also glad to see it's not wearing a Continental spare... Those are okay, but those bullet bumper guards are killer... I've never seen those on a '59... They must be incredibly rare. She's a real beauty!
¡Sencillamente impresionante este Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner convertible de 1959! Esta bellamente cuidado, además que no me deja de impresionar su techo retráctil rígido para su época. Como siempre, excelentes tomas a los detalles del vehículo... Saludos!
That is one beautiful cruiser Lou. My cousin owned a 59 Galaxie 500 convertible back in the day. It was the Aqua and white 2 tone exterior with the matching interior. The 59 Fords were very nicely styled. Another great video Lou.

Where does Dennis find these gems Lou? Unique styling, Ford had some great stylists back in the day! Lot of analog engineering in the folding hardtop. Flamboyance was a key element on these vehicles! I was 9 years old in this model year, my Dad had a 59 custom which was a stripper, 3 on the tree, rubber mats and a straight 6!
Hi Ron, I'm not sure, however he does have a way of finding good ones. Happy to read you appreciate the engineering with this car. Glad to read your Dad had a fun 1959 too :-) Lou
Great cars, my late father in Australia 🇦🇺 had a Ranch wagon and a few sedans, however, in Australia, they were badged as being 1961-2 with a square grille Sad he's no longer with us to see this and other fine examples of these cars available to see online. Great content, I would have loved to hear more from the gentleman with his knowledge of these cars. Also in Australia, the Ranch wagon was converted into hearses that often weren't extended. I must confess that I have never been a huge fan of these cars but this one is just special!!! Such a beautiful car!!! Those colors 👍👍👍 Love it!!! Had to edit this comment. This car oozes with detail everywhere. Magnificent is an understatement!!!
I owned a 59 Skyliner when I was in undergraduate school in Missoula, Montana. It had one problem. If you put luggage in the luggage compartment in the winter and you didn't have a garage, the snow would collect in the gap around the lid, melt then freeze. If you wanted to open it up to get at the luggage you would either have to put it in a garage or put hot water to melt the ice. Otherwise you could not open it up.

I can’t imagine owning this in 1959 how proud you’d be. You had to be the envy of your neighborhood in 1959. This looks Showroom!
Hi gene978, Thanks for viewing & sharing your thoughts, and you're right, this one looks showroom new. Lou
This has to be one of the nicest cars featured.
Hi David, High praise :-) Lou
What a beauty...thanks for sharing!
My pleasure sharing this one with you :-) You're welcome.
I learned to drive on a 59 Country Squire with 260 V8. It had the gold ball on the fenders. It was a tank and I put it thru hell LOL.
Hi John, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the Wagon you learned to drive on :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Thanks Lou. That man has impeccable taste in cars. Every one is always drop dead gorgeous.
Hi Mark M, My pleasure sharing this car with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
4 locations on the Roof and 2 locations on the Trunk Lid were 3 inch long Worm Drive Screws that secured the moving Roof to the Body. You pulled the button to lower the Top and pushed it to raise the Top.
Thank you for viewing & sharing your knowledge.
Lou when I was a kid my neighbors were Italian they had a 59 galaxy 500 hard top it was two tone black and burgundy candy apple rad with crager rims that had the gold centers and a nice rumble always wondered what ever happened to that car was beautiful
Hi Darren, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Italian neighbors car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Absolutely flawless. Dennis is one of the more animated car owners
High praise the the car & the Care Taker too :-)
24:47 When Cars were built with Hood and Fender mounted Gun Sights and Jet Turbine Exhasust inspired Tailights. How cool is that?
Pretty cool :-)
It would be impossible to find a nicer example or a better equipped one. Just amazing and what a great color combo. So rare
To see factory air conditioning! Love it!
Hi Craig, High praise :-) Lou
Even items that are functional like the spotlight or the A/C are sculptured art pieces! So many little details too; glad Dennis and others are preserving them!🙏🇺🇸
What a beautiful car! I love the two tone paint and colors. Thanks, Lou!
Hi Brian, I agree, the colors on this car are amazing :-) You're welcome, Lou
Great !!! Said before, these Fords were rolling works of art.
To borrow from Sammy, 10 on a 10 scale :)
High praise :-)
I helped restore one of those back around 1990 , what a PITA. Miles of wiring on one of those.
Sounds like a big job. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dennis and Lou!
Very nice Ford - and I agree with the other commenters, wonderful colour combo.
Stunning car with tremendous attention to detail.
Hi Jeff, The colour combo is very striking :-) This one has details around the whole car. My pleasure sharing this one with you, Lou

Hi Gail, You're right, this one has little details everywhere to enjoy :-) Lou
Denis is so excited about this car!!! I don't blame him, Compared to other vid's Lou's brought, of Denis's collection, I doubt there's one that has his tone of voice as excited as a 16 year old with his first car. Proof cars keep folks young.
Hi Chuck, You're right, Dennis enjoys this car :-) Agreed, the cars keep us young, Lou
Thanks guys, one of the greatest engineering spectacles of all time.
When that top is going up or down, it's FUN to watch :-)
Really enjoy Dennis. This is one of the most gorgeous of Ford's. Thanks Lou!
Hi motorTranz, Happy to read you're enjoying Dennis and his FUN Fords :-) You're welcome, Lou

Hi Randy, Happy to read you enjoy this "Art Work!!!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
One of my dad's used cars when I was a kid was a '58 hardtop that had the 352 and clear plastic seat covers. He liked to say it could pass anything except a gas pump. 😁
Hi Deorman Robey, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

@@loucostabile Hey Lou, I will watch more of your offerings. I caught the one you did on the '59 Impala Four on the floor Fuelie, amazing!
Absolutely beautiful!
High praise :-)
The torture continues without mercy....
And Lou just goes on his little dalliances that shred the souls of us weak, nostalgic fools with memories of bygone days....💔
High praise :-) Thank you George B! Lou
❤️Dennis’s enthusiasm, and Lou shines in his descriptions. Baroque era of cars.👏The retractable top is pure genius, American know-how.👍🙏🇺🇸
Talk about how times have changed.
Hi Michael, happy to read this video brings back memories of the brochure you have :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
another nice car Dennis I enjoy this ole guy lol!!!

Great car, love the colours.
Hi sulphur, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
A great summer beauty!
:-)
Great video Lou and what a tremendous car. The retractable hard top is a wonder. Keep these videos coming!
Happy to read you enjoy this car & video Paul :-)
That was when cars were steel and real the skyliner was the cats meow love the colors from that era
Hi Larry, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
Hi Rob, High praise for this video. Happy to read this car lands in your favorites :-) Lou
hi lou, i used to go by "mouse", but have changed identities lol, BUT...that hasn't changed my love for the classics you bring to us all the time! yet, another awesome classic! awesome 2 tone blue, keep 'em coming!! thanx!

Hi Thomas, Happy to read you have a cool car too :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Absolutly fantastic car♥️🇺🇸☝️
Happy to read you enjoy this one Marko :-)
Wow... That's the most optioned-out Retrac I think I've ever seen!
And thankfully, it ain't red and white🙄
Seems like ALL of them somehow ended up that way.
I'm also glad to see it's not wearing a Continental spare... Those are okay, but those bullet bumper guards are killer... I've never seen those on a '59... They must be incredibly rare.
She's a real beauty!
Hi Slick Andrews, High praise :-) Lou
I looked at the survey, what's the best car and truck people wanted, it was the FORD.
Hi Jerry, Thank you for sharing the survey results you've seen, Lou
¡Sencillamente impresionante este Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner convertible de 1959! Esta bellamente cuidado, además que no me deja de impresionar su techo retráctil rígido para su época. Como siempre, excelentes tomas a los detalles del vehículo... Saludos!
Hi Jaime, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
That is one beautiful cruiser Lou. My cousin owned a 59 Galaxie 500 convertible back in the day. It was the Aqua and white 2 tone exterior with the matching interior. The 59 Fords were very nicely styled. Another great video Lou.

Yes indeedy Lou, Beautimous! That’s when a car was a car, know what I mean?! They just don’t build cars like that anymore!
Hi Doug, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Where does Dennis find these gems Lou? Unique styling, Ford had some great stylists back in the day! Lot of analog engineering in the folding hardtop. Flamboyance was a key element on these vehicles! I was 9 years old in this model year, my Dad had a 59 custom which was a stripper, 3 on the tree, rubber mats and a straight 6!
Hi Ron, I'm not sure, however he does have a way of finding good ones. Happy to read you appreciate the engineering with this car. Glad to read your Dad had a fun 1959 too :-) Lou
Great cars, my late father in Australia 🇦🇺 had a Ranch wagon and a few sedans, however, in Australia, they were badged as being 1961-2 with a square grille
Sad he's no longer with us to see this and other fine examples of these cars available to see online.
Great content, I would have loved to hear more from the gentleman with his knowledge of these cars.
Also in Australia, the Ranch wagon was converted into hearses that often weren't extended. However, a few were

Wow!!! Just Wow!!! Really Love the colors of this car!!! Dennis is so right, that one would look so sweet at the beach!!! I must confess that I have never been a huge fan of these cars but this one is just special!!! Such a beautiful car!!! Those colors 👍👍👍 Love it!!!
Had to edit this comment. This car oozes with detail everywhere. Magnificent is an understatement!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, High praise :-) Lou
I owned a 59 Skyliner when I was in undergraduate school in Missoula, Montana. It had one problem. If you put luggage in the luggage compartment in the winter and you didn't have
a garage, the snow would collect in the gap around the lid, melt then freeze. If you wanted to open it up to get at the luggage you would either have to put it in a garage or
put hot water to melt the ice. Otherwise you could not open it up.
