She always came off as an interesting, decent, hardworking woman, but . . . amazing writer?

Lou Grant and Barbara Cartland= what an eclectic duo. Jackie is the balance, I reckon.

I think she's mislead. The standard of living in most of the world is better than it's ever been and that has nothing to do with romance literature

Brava, Barbara Cartland! What courage to say to Jackie Collins to her face that what she has published is horrible. They're called "trashy novels" for a reason! And Barbara is absolutely right that this permissiveness in all sorts of media, whether it be print or video or music, has had a negative effect on society as a whole. Children have lost their innocence and women are not respected, and then you have the feminists who want to be like men. Men don't respect women anymore, and also, they are afraid to be men. The whole situation is sad.

I love them both but if Barbara was around today she would not think that. She was also a huge supporter of the LGBTQ community.
Her saying that people shouldn't see anything about sex in books or media doesn't make sense. People need to be exposed to real stuff that way not everything is a taboo.
I'm so sick of people like you judging what everyone else does with their lives, you have no power in what others do sweetie.

I acquiesced your point and it is well-said. And I was an avid reader of both Jackie amorous writing and Ms. Cartlandt more Romance-oriented. Cartlandt's SIP was rather "pointed and unnessarily curt and impolite. I liked that for the most part Jackie kept her cool! I But I don't know if we can blame society's problems with lewdness or ill-treatment of women squarely on the shoulders of ""Trash fiction alone"Since both had been going On since eve turned rogue- in the Garden.

I came here after watching ContraPoints Twilight video, and I have to say, this comment is fucking bananas, man...
Why would you celebrate this repressive, misogynistic clown, for insulting a fellow author?
