  • Therapy? is a rock band from Northern Ireland, formed in 1989 by Andy Cairns and Fyfe Ewing. The band started as a duo and soon expanded to include bassist Michael McKeegan. They initially captured attention with their distinct indie rock influence and unique sound, characterized by aggressive guitar feedback and unconventional song structures. Their early work garnered them a following in the UK alternative music scene, leading to a deal with A&M Records in 1992.
Their major label debut, "Nurse," released in the same year, entered the UK Top 40, propelled by the success of the single "Teethgrinder." Therapy? achieved broader recognition with their subsequent albums, notably "Troublegum" in 1994 and "Infernal Love" in 1995, which showcased a blend of heavy guitars and inventive drumming that aligned them with the grunge movement. The band experienced changes in their lineup, with Ewing departing in 1996 and replacements including Graham Hopkins and Martin McCarrick adding new dimensions to their sound.
Over the years, Therapy? has released 14 studio albums, selling over two million albums worldwide. Despite numerous changes, they have maintained their edgy sound and remain a force in the rock music scene, currently signed to UK independent label Marshall Records. Their music continues to evolve, reflecting their roots in punk and alternative rock while embracing a broader range of influences.
