I like Pineda as much as the next crossover boxing fan, but I’m definitely questioning how Misfits gets away with fighters not knowing their opponents. When fighters are wrapping their hands, doesn’t a member of the opposite corner have to be in the room to monitor it? How are the contracts written regarding the mystery opponent? Seems confusing.
For "mystery opponent" fights, the known opponent should absolutely be told who the mystery opponent is. It's not fair at all that the mystery opponent knows who they are fighting and could train specifically to prepare for said opponent's style/attributes, whereas the known opponent doesn't know who they are fighting at all and can't prepare for them. I guess that's what happens when fighters (like Ed) get cocky and literally say they could "fight anyone," but the competition is still not fair.

The thing about the mystery opponent is they say every time that even the fighter doesnt know who theyre fighting. theyve done it about 3 or 4 time now. the only thing i didnt like was when they revealed it during the press conference. i prefer the ring walk.
To me they basically said 'fuck you' to Ed Matthews. I mean, what the hell is he gonna do against an actual pro boxer? We can joke all we want, but with no preparation thats a tall feat, quite literally in this instance. And for a shorter guy, not knowing that he's gonna fight someone with that type of range makes it impossible. Not knowing your opponent is fine when it's a close gap in skill and experience. Ed doesn't have the skill to make adjustments on the fly like that.
