- Here is the band that we think gave one of the best - if not the best - overall performance at this year's Panorama Finals competition. The band was the first to perform and they wowed the audience with their arrangement, presentation and stage presence. How they did not place in the top 5 is beyond our understanding.

Note:
In Sparrows 1976 original, the words of the chorus are spread out as the song develops, and only come together some way into the song.
In this 2023 RMX, the words of the chorus are always used in full; when there is no instrumental interlude that replaces their lines.
Sparrow, using a bit of artistic license, changes the words for the chorus slightly in the 2023 RMX; probably for stronger dramatic effect.
The word ‘Roshaeee…’ of the chorus, is replaced by ‘Solshaeee…’ in later repeats of the chorus of the 2023 RMX.

I agree with you 2%. The other 98% of their problem was the song selection, plus the arrangement was completely uninspired. And that fool in front 🤣
Is not every calypso that is a Panorama tune. But look at Invaders who I think also had an equally poor song selection, but their arrangement and rendition was powerful and inspiring. Compare them to Starlift and you will understand.
Just about everybody had a fool in front. I don't see how that turned into a problem.
@@errolmichaelphillips7763 So you didn't see the smiley face??? By the way, most of the others served a useful purpose. They actually conducted the band. This fool just acted the fool.
@@mangojulie123 From what I remember, conducting in Panorama is a very recent phenomenon and has very little impact on the performances of the bands. Anthony Williams did not conduct his band, but Bobby Mohammed did. Earl Rodney, Ray Holman, Beverly Griffith, Clive Bradley, Jit Samaroo, Leon Edwards and Len Sharpe produced great performances without conducting. Even Devonne Stewart DID NOT conduct his winning performances. He enjoyed himself. If you consider Dante Pantin to be a fool, then that's your call. But in my opinion, his theatrics were meant to entertain. Cheers!
@@errolmichaelphillips7763 I stand by my remarks. He acted the fool. He should have let someone else wear that ridiculous costume and focused on what he was there to do. The results spoke for themselves!
