The reason for the longer shaft is because at that length the shaft is lighter than any other shaft and in order to get everything out of this shaft the swing weight needs to be between D0 and D1.5- you have to test and see whats best for you. I would have left it at the 46" length and tested it first and then go lower if needed. A longer shaft will always give you a faster club head speed and if the shaft still gives accuracy then its a win win.
@@DaveFogel I had the same feeling with mine. I currently play va nemeysis but autoflex in xx is intriguing as the one I played I loved but it was just the sf505 stiff
It would seem that the Autoflex is marginally better right out of the box than your fitted Titleist/HZD RDX setup. Would you think spending some time tinkering with loft, lie and swing weight might yield consistently better results worthy of the $750? Is just swapping the shaft too simplistic an approach?
It does take some tinkering to get it right. Titleist heads aren't always the best for this shaft, they still work but The Callaway Speed and Cobra Rad are 2 that really work better. You really need to dial in the SW and it may be shaft length, (45-1/2 works the best) shifting of weights, leaving some weights out, heavier grips, lead tape etc. It works differently for everyone. Hard to justify the $750 but even if you don't gain a lot in distance but you hit a lot more fairways, is it worth it ??? That's the million dollar question.
@@hawkey100 just got mine today. I hit about 65% of fairways already so I don't care if it's straighter. I'll be tuning mine to get 20 more yards and if I can't get it, off to eBay it goes because I already hit my Ventus Blue great. But if Autoflex gets me 20 yards, bye bye Ventus.
@@Jus4kiks Still gaming the Autoflex. You can pry it from my cold, dead hands. I did change weights on the head because at full length it was D9 and I was hooking it a lot because of how hard I was going at it. Using 9 degree Mavrik Max turned down to 8 & swapped stock rear weight for 6g weight. This is at full length (47.25"). Some guys have been happier going a little shorter but I haven't seen any reason to cut it down. Took two range sessions of tweaking (with launch monitor) to get it properly configured but the results have been stellar. It's not for everyone but it's worth a try. If you hate it, you can easily sell it for only a $50-100 loss.
There are some things I just cannot afford. Well, actually quite a lot of, from yachts to Rolex and Porsche over a round at Pebble Beach. This shaft is one of them :-) SO was it worth the 750 bucks ? No by yards, but by feeling? You seem uncertain....
I agree i play mine at 46 inches Old shaft was 44.75 Better dispersion with the autoflex Key is swing smooth giving it a huge heave from the top is a recipe for off line drives As said feel like the shaft catchs up and away you go
The raw shaft length is 45" so uncut playing length is ~46.25". Just got mine today - I'm already playing 45.75" so another half inch is no big deal. This b*tch better scream for $750 😂
I personally wouldn’t want to have to swing my driver at that sort of pace on a tight course with trouble left & right...... I’d rather be accurate & a bit shorter with the ball in play. ⛳️😃👍🏻
You’re correct, that’s what it says but as I mentioned in my second comment that you probably didn’t read is that it works differently for every player. What works for me doesn’t necessarily work for you. Autoflex’s website gives you a range to work within but that’s in a perfect world. So many variables like I mentioned before come into play. Your swing whether it’s fast or slow, head weight, swing weight, grip size and weight , more weight forward or more weight back, or no weights. If you are hitting it high and right it’s too heavy, if you hit it left it’s too light. That’s why you need it to be dialed in, trial and error
@@MichaelNewtonGolf I’m sure you are aware that cutting the shaft down affects swingweight, but even if you correct the swingweight to a playable number I’m not sure how cutting an Autoflex shaft down much below 46 inches changes it’s effectiveness. I just know that I put my Autoflex shaft in a Titleist TSi1, cut it to 46 inches and picked up 20-25 yards carry and have NEVER hit a driver straighter. FYI: I am 1.8 handicap and have always hit my driver pretty straight. If you don’t like playing a longer driver, maybe this shaft is not for you. I’m not getting anything out of this, just wanted your audience to get an idea of the potential this shaft has for some of us and when played at the manufacturer’s recommended specs. BTW: I Enjoy your channel!
Interesting. Very consistent with such a whippy shaft. Thanks for sharing.

Lighten the swingweight to D0~D0.5 and you will eliminate the push fade. Length is perfect at 45.25.
Excellent review. Would you consider retesting with a TSi2 head. That added MOI with this shaft would be really interesting to see?
How would this shaft suit a jon rahm style short swing 🤔?
Thanks for this vid
You get much better results with a lighter head weight as the shaft isn’t too whippy
I got the 505xx at 46". Ill be taking it on the course Monday. So far im spinning it too much.
What swing speed or ball speed are you ? I had an autoflex last year but I think I should have gotten an x or xx in it
@@kwalter2323 about 112-115. I snapped the head off the 505x

Just waiting for the courier to drop off my AF 505X. Putting it in a Cobra Rad Speed XB, with 5g head weight, so be about D1.8 at 45.5"
Hi, looks like all pros have problem with that shaft, goes left and right? To expensive for all golfers?

Isn’t the thought process with the Autoflex is to play it around 46-48” ?
They say to play it a bit longer than your standard length because it's so much straighter. It's worth the trade off

Try to get your SW to D0 . Fiddle with the weights. Might work better.
Incorrect. The swing weight for the xx is higher. Look on the autoflex site

More testing required...
I believe many people achieve the optimal distance with 46 inch and swing weight of zero. Hope you give that a try.
use a lightweight ladies shaft
ITS NOT A NORMAL SHAFT, THEREFORE, YOURE NOT SUPPOSE TO CUT IT TO YOUR NORMAL LENGTH... ITS SUPPOSE TO BE USED AT 46INCH MINIMUM
Seems to me you need a different shaft
