I am not a Blue Jays fan (nor Indians, either). I am a baseball fan, so I had the last 12-13 innings on (the MLB TV network). Your comments on Carapazza here are spot-on. What a disgrace. In this year of terrible umpiring, this was the apex. BTW, it was 12 called out on strikes -- 11 of those 12 on Toronto players. I didn't see the Encarnacion/Gibbons ejections, but did see the Martin ejection, and Carapazza clearly initiated it. It was the end of an inning, and as Martin slowly walked toward his dugout, Carapazza FOLLOWED him (rather than walking to the mound, to the Cleveland bench -- to anywhere but to escalate a situation where he knew that he'd get his chance to toss Martin)! I've already written MLB. I expect zero response, but if you media types stay with it, maybe something positive can occur. Especially with these guys that apparently want the spotlight (not just Carapazza; see "Cowboy" Joe West, e.g.), a relegation-type system might just work. Keep paying them their usual salary, so their union will have trouble adequately complaining, but demote them to triple-A (and promote good umps from that level). Repeat issues? Double-A and Single-A are available. I believe that we're seeing more poor umpiring and grudge attitudes because these umps are angry at being reversed so often on video appeal.Frankly, giving Carapazza a seat for a couple weeks -- without public explanation -- might get the message across to him and his brethren. Hell, they might even try to retrain him some during the time he sits?

My friend angel campus did work minor league from A level to triple A baseball for seven years. And was a pro umpire for about 6-7 years and in 2014 was released. So their are umpires who get released and many who work as fill-in umpires for vacations, injuries. These umpires are rated and some get jobs but many do not.
