It would be excellent if bot hockey was introduced as a recreational league at school or anywhere else but it may become just a novelty thing. Who knows? Enjoyed the video highlights :)
So this is why Ray says that Max can still come at you when you tear off all but one wheel from his bot. I thought he was exaggerating but it was true.
I do not know much about robot fights so my question is, are there any restrictions how many weapons a robot can bring to fight because a friend of mine build one which had a imemnse arsenal of a flamer, a saw, a hammer, a grapping claw and a long sting that was hidden under hte armor and quickli pushed out to pierce the enemy armor I wonder if this robot would be alowed to fight
Okay, I've had enough of your insults. I will address your points one by one. As to your first point: Quadrupedal robots aren't just useful in war. They could also be great on construction sites or in agriculture where typical wheeled industrial robots would be ineffective. Even in domestic applications, a quadrupedal robot would be effective if designed with a square or circular footprint, allowing it to fit effectively through doors. It could also potentially have 4 arms and 360 degree vision
Well, it's pretty much the same sport, just with robots. And a lot more awesome. I doubt the Romans ever saw a gladiator throw an opponent 20 feet through the air and into a wall. This reminding you of the Coliseum shouldn't be unsettling.
its got three spikes...the akron team was in there with their first combat robot...actually survived a long time compared to most that go against ziggy
Something with that many weapons would not do well. The weight limit is 220 pounds, and that many weapons would mean that weight would be spread to thinly. Better to only have one or two weapons. Restrictions are: No magnets, no electrical weapons, no liquid flamethrowers, no liquid weapons, no projectile weapons. You should look up the rules, they can be found on most combat robotics websites.
Was shoving that Cinema-projector like robot into the perspex, DISCS FIRST really such a good idea? People were sitting inches from it. I know the perspex is strong, but c'mon....
Yeah, I know, but its only my writer's imagination that is worrying me, I suppose. I mean, if people get so hyped up about this, how long will it be until there's the next stage after robots? How many stages are there between robots fighting and people fighting? I know it probably won't happen, but I can't help but consider the possibilities, you know?
"Legue" isn't probably a word. Nobody doesn't have the kind of "moey" to waste on a mining competition because MOEY does not exist too. Have a nice day.
continued... ,making it even more useful than a humanoid. It could also rest in a standing position while powered down, because it would only need to actively balance while walking, unlike a humanoid which needs to do so while standing as well. To you second point: as you said, copying humans is what consumers think robotics is about. In this context, a consumer seems to be another term for someone who doesn't know anything about robots which doesn't come from a movie...
As for not working: consider Boston Dynamics' Big Dog vs. Honda's Asimo. Which do you see as more likely to be practical in the near future. Now, when you can't bother to spell "you" properly, and respond to any comment with "stupid", I hardly think I'm the stupid one.
1:14 now imagine that robot that cut the other one up is about 10 times bigger now imaging yourself in place of the one that just got chopped up yea that would be awesome
But that's because there were actual people and animals dieing, whereas the vast majority of combat robots are RC (yeah, I know, they aren't technically robots). So, there are no moral issues unless you have a moral problem with demolition derbies (incidentally, combat robotics is much safer than a demolition derby). It's also a lot safer, and more spectacular than boxing or wrestling.
Diamonds have several cleavage planes (Yes, that's what they're called, don't laugh). What this means is if they are cut in a certain direction they will split easily. Combine that with the fact robots here are using spinning disks and you see my point.
The wood is used as ablative armor that breaks away easily and transfers the kinetic energy away from the robot instead of having it thrashed around rattling and breaking it's insides.
Yes. It's way harder, and 4 or 6 legs are more stable in situations like steep grades. So why bother trying to do bipedal robots, especially humanoids, which are unstable compared to a dinosaur-like posture, similar to how it's harder to ride a unicycle than a bicycle.

I really enyoyed it. Thanks al lot.

how is this not on TV anymore -.-

love that music. what is it?
IT SO GOOD
Does anyone know the name of the song please ? Thx
what is that music in background?i like it...
good work guys..........
can u plz mail me the specifications of motors used in this.........
This reminds me, unsettlingly, of the Roman Coliseum...Especially all the people roaring and cheering when one of the is dismembered.
@UltraDrago2000 probably a means of defense? or to flip back to its original position?
What i think is a obvius problem for most of those is a huge lack in control.

Great
What the heck the "ziggy" bot was doing when smoke/gas/steam(?) shot out the front?
can these robots have projectile weapons onboard and qualify in these matches?
where is this held...can anyone make one and enter the fight???
@GerbilGod7 Is the one guy using a Logitech Attack 3 joystick?
DrBuffaloBalls it is. I used to have one, and I still have that design of laptop :) I'm not that guy though
Is that blowing out candles from Indonesia? i see the emblem and word "Indonesia"
muhammad fayyad yeah i am not the only 1

the firecar is sweet x3
THe Ziggy battlebot is so epic :)

where real steel begins
where is this?
its got three spikes...the akron team was in there with their first combat robot...actually survived a long time compared to most that go against ziggy
What´s the name of the on at 2:40? Beyblade? I just imagine two of them crushing at each other...
1:57 Reminds me of custom robo :)
I thought of making that, but moves slowly, as it has wheels, and a chainsaw on top of it.

thats fucking awesome!!

I know the perspex is strong, but c'mon....
Who does not like robots.
It previously used HPA instead of the current Co2.
Ah ok, that makes sense. For a second I thought it was some sort of weapon, like it was shooting something but it was too fast to see the projectile.
Estou desenvolvendo um desses espero que fique legal e que eu poça participar de um desses campeonatos

is ziggys opponent in the beggining just a box with wheels? ._.

Очень круто!!!
very cool!
I recommend a robot with titanium armor
Infinitamente melhor que UFC
Aluminum or carbon fiber reinforced polymer will do well
1:40 Little silver robot domination!!
they're RC vehicles. And i think anything else would be too precious to destroy. I prefer to see them play robosoccer and stuff like that.
Except for the fact that gladiator combat is now viewed as one of the most barbaric past-times in history.

ziggy has insane flipping power, he can flip bots across the arena easy lol
Nobody gives a shit so shut up or im reporting you
an attack helicopter reported
go ziggy!
Agreed
SHOOWWWWW!!!!!!
4:50 - the feesho-bot 9000!
I recommend a robot with diamond armor.

that has been already created with bio hazard
Are these things controlled or autonomous?
Controlled... you can CLEARLY see the guy controlling one at 2:04
Dakota Allen Actually I think the smaller ones are automated, like at 3:40 - 4.00
noice
Ziggy for the win!
1:14 now imagine that robot that cut the other one up is about 10 times bigger now imaging yourself in place of the one that just got chopped up yea that would be awesome
4:40 HOLY SHIT!
Ziggy the best!
I know.
I just wanted a robot so strong and tough that nothing will ever be able to destroy it.
Iron man should bought his bot to this competition :P
@UltraDrago2000 i don't know
hahaha go ziggy!
better than cute robots ... very good
i reckon a robot with MAC cannons and make it 5 km long mixed with yours then we can call it infinity :)

ohh... wasn't ziggy always using pneumatics to power the weapon though? how come it didn't used to blow out steam? so cool though. =)
That saw robot almost killed two people

Gostei do Ziggy.
ziggy ftw!!!
Ziggy is the best !! :-D
A square bread box
Ziggys creator is my swim team coach

lol i love ziggy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also the wheels are your limbs.
are these real robots, because they seem to be rc
ziggy you are the best
Tombstone wiping robots out, I can't believe people use wood as armor? what is this the stone edges? figure od speech of couse
The wood is used as ablative armor that breaks away easily and transfers the kinetic energy away from the robot instead of having it thrashed around rattling and breaking it's insides.
i like ziggy
Juggernaut 1.
ISD!!
Unless constricted by weight, steel will always be superior over titanium...
Not true if you’re using grade 5 titanium

1:18 kid saying fuck fuck fuck fuck!
hahaha
It would have been awesome if at 8:05 the glass gave way and the robot kills the first row audience.
oh. ok xD
