The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
#Graves #Cemeteries #Death
That cemetery is fully of photos on the markers. Not all cemeteries are like that so that certainly makes this one special!
yes, Italian and Czech cemeteries traditionally have these porcelain ovals on most stones. On the other hand, Irish, German, and other European cultures -almost never.
Bot now lately, it seems to be catching on with everyone, just in the last decade or two.
Oh goodness I am in bed with covid, it’s horrible! Ron your kind words and prayers made my heart happy with joy 🥰 … God have mercy on us all 🌹
Feel better soon
Thank you 🙏🏻
Take care of yourself. Feel better 🤗
Get well soon. If I may ask, had you received the Covid vaccination before getting sick?
Thank you 🙏🏻 Yes I had vaccine & I am counting on it. Cough attacks are so wicked.
Italian gravestones are my absolute favourites especially with the pictures.
Greek headstones are the same, so interesting and such a tribute to the loved one.
According to the newspaper I read online the Borsellino cousins were bootleggers, and owned a speakeasy in Cleveland. They were found in a parked car in a field outside of Cleveland. Both were bound, gagged and strangled, and stuffed in the turtle back of a buick coupe. Back in the 20's & 30's the trunk of the car was called a turtle back (luggage department) because it was shapped like a turtle shell.
I read they were strangled but didn’t know details. Thanks!
This grave is my neighbors parents and brothers who died very young. Grandpa jack. Is here buried next to his wife and boys. They came from Italy moved to Morton grove Illinois. There two daughters and husbands are in the mausoleum across the street at queen of heaven. They lived on my block were I grew up on. There other son is buried a few rows down. He was in the navy he passed away in 1957. That’s great you went in so far. Thank you so much.
I use to work in a cemetery, those chips in the glass most likely came from rock being thrown from the mowers .
A shame about the cameos getting chipped, as I guess they are not cheap to produce or install. The covers seem mostly to stop them being chipped, broken or dislodged, although the cover Ron lifted in this video revealed a chip on the photo placed on the headstone. However, the photo on the inside of the cover looked fine.
These cameos serve to keep the memory of the loved one fresh, when otherwise, with the passage of time, the
image of the loved one would start to fade.
Mount Carmel is a very interesting cemetery. Enjoy your walks through it.
Love the old pictures.
Beautiful cemetery. My dog heard the geese flying over, woke her from a nap! Some of the statues take your breath away, the pain is so real and intense.
At 14:52, the man that you said had no name: he was the one named "Carmen". Yes, that was a popular male name among Italians; I should know because my Dad had a brother and a cousin both named Carmen.
It's a beautiful cemetery. On my way to cemetery to visit my dad on his bday
I love when men & women wore hats all the time
OMG! I love the Mount Carmel cemetery videos ♥️♥️💙💙✝️✝️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Me too!
What a cool cemetery! So much to see and so many lives to ponder. It would be easy to spend a whole day here. Thanks for taking us along!
The size of this cemetery always amazes me. And also the markers which are so generous. They must have been quite expensive. Really sad how young they were. RIP to all.
Lots of young people buried there. So sad.
Wow 😯, I got the notification for this video & I have never clicked so fast, LOL 😂. Have a great rest of the weekend Ron & FOTF gang.
Really like how respectful you are sir
You are amazing with the respect you show the deceased
Always looking forward to your very interesting videos. Thank you!
You're almost at 100k Ron.
Hard work paying off! I love Mount Carmel, its my favourite of your videos. Endless interest.
ty, yes, I cannot believe it! 500 new subs a day on average says the analytics. Lot's of us out there!! 😊
Wife and I LOVE your Site; we look forward to it...
Happy you’re a part of the gang!! Hello to your wife👋🏼
Thank you so much visiting Mount Carmel even though it's a year ago. You have made my gloomy morning filled with the hidden sun smiling behind it.
That you Ron for allowing us to visit all these amazing cemetery’s and to
Pay respects to so many
I love that place
Prayers for you and your family in the loss of your daughter and also prayers for Jimmy’s loved ones. I have lost two sons so I know the pain.
Thank you for all you do to bring us such interesting videos! Be safe!
I am so glad I found this channel my husband and I when we’re out on the motorcycle and he used to be a smoker so we would have to pull off to the side of the road so we can have a cigarette and we would always look for old cemeteries out in the middle of nowhere sometimes they only had like maybe 40 graves in it but they were so cool!!! thank you for going around the United States and showing us some really cool graves we’re going to continue to do that you just motivated me!!
its all a new adventure, every time. we reflect on history every time we enter.
Putting beautiful faces to who is buried there is so powerful to me. The only ones Ive come across in New England (used to do photography I'm the cemeteries years ago ) unfortunately we're in bad shape, so I had to stick with only the sculptures. This is gorgeous Ron. Thank you for bringing my fire back, and as always for doing this. This was a phenomenal watch❣️
It's GREAT to see so many of the older graves being so well maintained!! Thanks for sharing this with us, Ron!! XXXX
@@pippadot679 You too, Pippadot!! XXXX
Thank you Ron for this, I am now getting familiar with the names of the cemeteries you visit more often and I find this one beautiful because of the pictures of the people, it makes paying respect to them more personal somehow. As a retired nurse I can say you are very lucky to recover from Covid Ron, enjoy every day. 🇦🇺
thx Liz.
@@Bella1neverknows670 - thx Bella I appreciate it
Thanks for turning back the sands of time! I enjoy all the forgotten historical stories that have been forgotten. Should do one on the Polar Bear Monument, White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan. A forgotten story of American history in WW1. And thanks to all the viewers that fill in missing parts of the forgotten. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for all that you do for the viewers/subscribers. Each episode contains so many hours of research, planning, traveling, and editing. The viewers are given a priceless gift in return.
I admire the images along with the Funerary sculpture. The way Ron coneys a story is completely remarkable. The viewer becomes engrossed in the video while being drawn into the life story of an individual. A show of hands on an extended episode, such as a documentary, with our favorite Curator/Docent/Researcher/Architect & Pilot. Cannot wait for FOTF to get to 100,000 subscribers!!!!
🖐️
@@Regina0964 thank you. I really enjoy all of the episodes. Mount Carmel is an incredible location. I'm just happy wherever FOTF goes.
@Faces of the Forgotten- Ron, maybe the damage to the images is possibly caused by lawnmowers kicking up rocks? Then again, nothing would shock me (the cemetery where my mother is buried was vandalized by local teens several years ago).
Little Irene and the angel on her stone was gently dropping a lilly towards the ground. I need to find my notes on what the symbolism is referencing.
I love listening to you explaining the stories..keep coming back to MT Carmel
Love these videos!!
Love seeing these portraits. Fascinating
I love that granite cross
Thanks for taking us on the tour with you but it's so sad to see so many young ones who died so young
Well Done ,
They All Deserve to
Be Remembered !
Rest In Peace 🙏

@@Regina0964 Thanks so much but I've been a part of this group already for a long time
I really love yr videos. Greetings from distant Brazil.
Please hit the thumbs up…thank you!
I really love looking at the pictures.
Mount Carmel really must be a huge Cemetery. I love how you pay respects to the graves you come to, describing it all for us, even how they dress, thanking them for their service in Wars. I much appreciate the time you put in to all of this. I would love to see more of Mount Carmel. Love from 🏴
I love when you do mount carmel.its nice to put a face to the names.i wish everyone did that.i know I'm gonna do it
Hi Ron, Not to be a wise guy, but Vincenzo is pronounced Vin-chen-zo. Concetta is pronounced Con-chet-ta. I'm Italian on my mom's side and grew up mostly with her side of the family. Thanks for another great video.
Just found out my Great Aunt Ann Townsend, is buried in Mt Carnel. She was born in Prince Edward Island 1865.
I was born a Townsend and have relatives from Nova Scotia back in the day.
@@teyjahxaveriss6270 My grandfather and his siblings were born in Tracadie PEI. Name was McNally. Ann went to Philly and married John Townsend and then moved to the Ill. area,
I love when you walk through here Ron. The stones are so beautiful as well as the cemetery and the photos are exquisite. Thank you for another interesting and thoughtful video. Stay safe Ron and be well!
Thank you so much Pippadot, I love being here. It is an amazing channel and so is everyone here. Stay safe and have a great week!
Paolo Borsellino was a judge in Italy was assassinated by the Sicilian mafia, 1992. Maybe those young Bosellino brothers were assassinated, too.
Thank you 🙏🏽 Ron!
Love to see the wedding dresses and the men dressed up with hats on so smart
Me too!
This is paying so much respect
Thank you for the tour. I live the pictures, and My. Carmel. I like to see their faces and their clothes, so inter string. Thank you for telling their stories so well. May they all rest in peace. Take care, stay safe, God bless you. Stay well.
I love Mt. Carmel. Spent many hours walking the grounds. Ron, you keep filming and your fans will keep watching! Time well spent!
I find the headstones with pictures on them fascinating. I'm from Buffalo & Syracuse NY and have never seen markers with pictures on them. It is so interesting how funeral rituals differ in various parts of the country. I like walking through cemeteries. I always have. I like your videos so much because they bring me too many places i have never been
You don’t see many stones with photos these days. I think more people should do that.
@@KimberlyLew I see them very often now as the grave photos are making a comeback. I love them!
@@KimberlyLew I love the pics too I look into their eyes and smiles and wonder what happened to them to die so very young.
Same here in Georgia. There is one in the church cemetery I have family at and it has a pic of young man....believe he was 21 and passed in 1972. Other than that into Ron started his walks never seen them. I don't like how cemeteries nowadays don't allow these beautiful headstones 😓
100 years ago today, Irene's Grave x Happy Birthday 🎂 in Heaven 🕊🌹❤️
This is why I love this channel. All these pictures of people who had lives, they lived, loved and died, but who were they really? I want to know about their lives, were they happy? I wish we knew more about them D
The lawnmowers kick up stones
I am so fascinated with the graves that have photos... they don't do that too much in the South. What a beautiful way to memorialize your loved ones❤ ❤❤
me too. it's like going back in time machine, they come to life for me.
My favourite videos are the ones with the beautiful porcelain portraits. Thanks for sharing, Ron.
I bet those chips are made from the weed trimmers throwing stones.
Very nice job. Thank you! I am glad you were able to recover from COVID. I do remember one of your videos when you were gasping for breath. You are a trooper.
6:34 age 21, Endocarditis
Also called: inflammation of the heart valve
My very favorite cemetery that you walk through!
Thank you MR Ron always look forward for walks Montcarmell is a amazing cemetery pictures really brings the name alive thank you for taking us along
I love seeing the photos
Absolutely love this cemetery. I love the old photos as well. So sad that there are a lot of young ones that died
Lawnmower shoot rocks I always liked Mt Carmel I wish more people put pictures on headstones adds to them nice
I wish cemeteries now days would allow the elaborate and unique headstones 😓. Ones that lay on ground ain't much to look at 💗🕊️
Like Mt.Carmel.I like all of the pictures.
Lucille's hat kinda resembled the Christmas wreath 😆
I love your videos at Mt. Carmel! Very interesting
Ron, great video and thanks for sharing.
I was intrigued by the Borsellino brothers dying in the same year. Apparently they were murdered by strangulation in Cleveland Ohio,
I like Mount Carmel and all those beautiful pictures.
I just got my second booster. Feel great about being vaccinated. God bless you Ron for doing what you are doing. Acknowledging all these people that have gone before us. I would love to go with you on an expedition. But I live in Las Vegas and live on a very tight budget. But sure would love to see some of these places. Please be safe I may God bless you
I got confused as too your entire is very fall like, you look cold and thought hummm "odd for August", then seen that side note, makes sense. 😏 Love those beautiful porcelain "almost a mother of pearl looking" pictures displayed on those Graves. You can see allot of personality if you look at their eye's in those pictures, truely a glimpse into the souls that once were. May they all rest in peace.
Love from Canada.
Love the cemetery, the pictures on the headstone is really neat too. Being able to match a name with a photo of the actual person. Next time I go to the cemetery to place flowers on my mom's grave I'm going to walk around.
Amazing 👏 looks like an old video 📹 beautiful pictures 📷, may they rip 🙏 💔
Your videos of this cemetery are very interesting all the time. Thank you for sharing
I just love these videos especially the old pictures, very haunting.
I think I would blame lawn mowers putting the holes in the photos before guns. Mowers like to throw rocks. I think these walks through Mount Carmel looking at the pictures are my favorite videos.
Thank you for the tour, Ron. Makes you plant your feet firmly non the ground. ✝️😔🇺🇸
Those covers are a good idea to protect the photos from any projectiles that might come at them. Love your channel I’ve been binge watching for days, fantastic videos 👍
I just love the pictures on the grave stones...I could spend all day there...
YOU STAY SAFE AND TAKE CARE OF YOU AS WELL RON. . THANKS FOR THE TOUR . 😊😊
Mount Carmel is one of the most beautiful cemeteries In My Honest opinion So many faces on the tombstones

Beautiful cemetery and beautiful head stones
Enjoyed very much. 🦘🦘❣️
I like to see all that pictures, so the stones have a story, so sad that so many children had to die, we should be thankful for every day we have on this planet. Thank you so much for this walk. 🖤🖤🖤
Always interesting. This has to be in the good old winter time.
I love the old pictures 🙏 looks so classy RIP 🙏 imagine the pictures that will be in this generation 🤭
